The young king of Hyrule sits alone in the castle library, scanning the shelves for any book that could possibly help him. The majority of the books are old, having been treasures of his father, and many fathers before that. The shelves tower over the king in seemingly endless stacks. A few guards are nearby, keeping watch over their king from a distance.

Very light foot steps are heard, but the king doesn't seem to notice. The guards take no notice either. A young woman in her twenties appears at the king's side. She does not say a word, but has most of her face hidden with a scarf-like cloth.

She continues standing their silently until the king finally looks up. The two then stare at each other in silence for a few moments. The king sighs.

"Is there a problem?" the king asks.

"I haven't seen you yet today. I'm slightly upset," the woman says.

"Well, maybe I was busy! But you didn't think about that! Shame on you!" the king yells.

The guards finally take notice and turn their heads. The woman seems a little surprised by the king's sudden act of aggression. She backs up a bit.

"Guards, calm down," the king says with a laugh, then he turns back to the woman, "I'm sorry, okay?"

"Would you please follow me a moment?" the woman asks.

"Sure thing. Guards, take a break. I can handle myself for a while," the king says, waving the guards away.

The king smiles cheerfully and follows after the woman down the long and elegant hallways of the castle. The woman opens the door to a seemingly random room in a random corridor. The king enters first and she follows, shutting the door behind them.

"Daphnes, have you told anyone else?" the woman asks, addressing the king by his first name.

The king glances at the crib that is hidden at the corner of the room. The small dark skinned baby is sleeping peacefully at the moment, unaware of anything being wrong. The king sighs and turns back to face the woman.

"No, Impa. Of course not. I can't... I can't let them know..." Daphnes says, shaking his head, "I know you're good at keeping secrets, that's why I have entrusted him into your care."

"He's not going to stay a baby forever... One day, he'll want to run around and play, just like any other child. And then what? We can't keep him hidden forever..." Impa says.

"I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Daphnes says, approaching the crib.

"He's not even a Hylian..." Impa says, "No Hylian I've ever seen looked like that."

"Yeah, I know. I never said he was a Hylian. I just said he needs care. A woman's care. I obviously have no way to feed him. I know nothing about changing diapers, either," Daphnes says, "And you, Impa, you are perfect for this role..."

"So in the past few months that I've been raising this child, you didn't think to notify me that he wasn't just a poor orphaned Hylian?" Impa asks.

"Well, I have now. He's a Gerudo. The last Gerudo," Daphnes says, looking up at Impa with tear filled eyes, "I caused this, and I will never be able to forget this evil that I have committed."

Impa raises a hand to her already covered mouth. The king shakes his head.

"I know... I know... I promised his mother I would protect him... And he won't be like the others. I won't allow it! I will raise him to be the greatest prince of all," Daphnes says.

"He's a cursed child... You've read the stories..." Impa says.

"He's a harmless infant who needs our love and care. He's my child now, and that's what truly matters," Daphnes says.
