The young king of Hyrule is seated on his throne in a luxurious throne room. The walls are a pearly white and a long velvety red carpet is extending from the throne down the center of the room. Only those with clean shoes are permitted to walk on the carpet. The king portrays hardly any emotion, what little he is showing is rather negative as his advisor rattles on about taxes and how the people are responding.
Everything about the king's appearance changes the instant that Impa walks into the room. His eyes twinkle with amusement and joy and he sits up even straighter even though it already seemed he was sitting pretty straight. The light streaming through the windows glitters off of his shiny white teeth. Impa walks right up to the king without even bowing, but he seems not to notice or care.
"Daphnes," Impa says.
The advisor stares in shock and horror at the woman's boldness. This causes the king to laugh heavily.
"Your majesty! Shouldn't you scold this woman for breaking in to your throne room and approaching without permission?!" the advisor asks.
The guards, who were fast asleep at their posts mere moments ago spring awake and rush to grab Impa. Skillfully, she jumps and lands behind them. Daphnes applauds and whistled in response.
"Your majesty! This is getting out of hand!" the advisor yells.
"You're getting out of hand," Daphnes says, crossing his arms disapprovingly.
The advisor falls silent a moment before arguing back.
"Your father would be so disappointed in you! He specifically put me in my position to instruct you and insure that Hyrule would be run by a great king!" the advisor yells.
Daphnes falls silent and the gloomy appearance resettles over him. Impa pushes the guards aside and walks back up to the king. Comfortingly, she rests a hand on his shoulder. He sighs and glances up at her.
"Daphnes... You're doing your best... I know you are," Impa says.
"I miss my father... but perhaps the advisor is right... maybe I am just a disappointment..." Daphnes says.
"What you need is a bit of sunshine!" Impa says, "Come, follow me, sweetie!"
The advisor gags as Daphnes takes Impa's hand and rushes out the door with boyish giggles.
A few guards try to follow, but Daphnes stops them.
"I do not require guards at this moment. Please leave," Daphnes says.
Disappointed, the guards leave.
"Let's take the child out with us," Impa whispers when the guards leave.
"Why?" Daphnes asks, looking confused.
"It's awfully dark in his room. It's not healthy to leave him in there with no sunshine... Cursed or not, I say we at least let him enjoy the sun," Impa whispers.
"You care about him," Daphnes says after a moment of silence.
"He's growing on me," Impa says with a gentle smile.
The two enter the secret room and approach the crib once again. The baby is growing quickly and almost could use a bigger crib now.
"Oh my, he sure has grown!" Daphnes exclaims.
The baby wakes up at the sound of the king's voice and sits up, smiling toothlessly. Daphnes reaches in and grabs the baby out, cradling him.
"You're such a big boy, now," Daphnes says in a cutesy voice.
Impa smiles. The baby reaches up to touch the king's face, laughing a bit.
"Hide him under a shawl. I'll keep the guards away as we go out to the courtyard," Daphnes says.
Impa nods and takes the baby back from Daphnes. She hides him in her shirt and throws a thick shawl over to cover him up. The king leads the way, dismissing each guard he finds and pointing them away from where Impa is coming from. Impa carefully follows, clutching the shawl.
After some time, the three make it outside and a safe distance away from the castle itself.
"Alright, Ganondorf..." Daphnes says.
Impa shudders at the name and grimaces. Regardless, she uncovers the baby and sets him in the grass. Ganondorf looks around curiously, blinking in the bright sun light.
"Do you like it?" Daphnes asks, grinning.
Ganondorf makes an excited sounding noise as a gentle breeze blows past him. His ginger hair, which is already starting to grow out, trembles in the wind. A bit of drool drips from the baby's mouth as he reaches a chubby little hand up into the air. He makes a fist and brings it down to his face, only to discover nothing is in his hand. Surprised, he looks at Daphnes and then at Impa.
"He's trying to grab the wind! How silly!" Impa says, laughing.
Ganondorf looks even more confused and grabs at the air again.
"No, no, silly... That is wind... It's not something you can take hold of," Daphnes says to the child.
Ganondorf sputters and looks about to cry before he suddenly is distracted by something else. That something else is the lush green grass all around him. He grabs a clump of the grass and laughs excitedly upon seeing that, unlike the wind, the grass remains in his hands. The wind blows again and the grass regrows in an instant, appearing to never have been removed.
"It's a marvelous thing... How fast the grass grows here. The winds bring life," Daphnes says.
Ganondorf smiles and starts crawling away after the wind.
"Ganondorf! No! Come back!" Daphnes cries out.
Daphnes runs after the baby who is moving along very fast. Impa remains behind.
"Daphnes...?" Impa calls out.
Finally, Daphnes catches up and snatched the child up. Ganondorf shrieks excitedly and wriggles in the king's arms. A single guard turns and sees them.
"What in Hyrule...?" the guard asks.
The guard falls down unconscious suddenly with a groan. Standing behind where he was standing is Impa.
"I was going to warn you..." Impa says, "I saw him heading that way as well..."
Daphnes bites his lip nervously.
"He's not dead... He'll recover soon. Come on, we need to hide the baby before anyone else finds out..." Impa says.
"Oh, Impa..." Daphnes groans.
Impa takes Ganondorf and hides him under the shawl again. Together, they rush back inside and back to the hiding room.
"He's going to tell everybody... I just know it..." Daphnes whispers.
"A single witness isn't enough to prove it to be true... There had to have been at least two witnesses..." Impa says.
"So they'll just call him crazy?" Daphnes asks.
"Hopefully..." Impa says.
