01 - Let the fun begin

.

''Shit.''

It was the first curse Izuku blurted out in his life. The first but certainly not the last, as other waves of this simple word were streaming over his mind while the most violent fight was happening in front of his eyes. A Villain fight to be exact.

Let's start from the beginning.

Midoriya Izuku is fifteen this year. And like most of the children in Japan, his dream has always been to be a hero. To save lives, reassure people, defeat villains. All of that. And it would have been all real if it wasn't for the fact that Izuku was absolutely Quirkless.

Unlike 80% of the world population, Izuku was a part of the 20% without a Quirk. He couldn't move objects from afar, spit fire from his mouth or his hands, didn't have wings or any kind of body mutations like his friends. No, Izuku's got nothing. It was one of the multiple reasons he passed his life being bullied and mocked, all because of this little difference that everyone didn't want to tolerate, not even understand. His own best friend turned his back on him and instigated the bullying since he was diagnosed as quirkless.

But Izuku stayed strong. He stayed strong.

He endured the laughs, the beatings, the pitying looks he got from every person around him. His only support has been his mother, Midoriya Inko. But even she got taken by his unfortunate fate. Before Izuku is six, she passed away due to an unknown illness without any relative to live with. He was all alone again.

But he stayed strong.

Quirkless people still could help others. His idol told him that. Despite having crushed his hopes saying he couldn't be a hero, All Might told Midoriya he could get a job in a police station and realize a fragment of his former wish. Yes, he could do that. That's why Izuku has found himself pushed against a wall by Kacchan one day, just after their teacher announced both of their application to UA.

'I'm the only fucking one who's gonna go to UA! Heard me Deku?! What a pathetic useless quirkless gonna do there anyway? You trash! Do you think you're better than me?!'

'K-Kacchan stop! I-I'm only… I'm only applying for general courses so-!'

'I don't fucking care what you're applying for, dumbass! Know your place damnit!'

He went home with a purple bruise on the cheek after that. But his goal remained the same. Izuku was going to be a hero. A hero in his own way so that no one would have anything to complain about.

So eight months later and full of hopes, Izuku is at UA, taking the exam in a huge amphitheater with around one hundred students in the same case as him. The tests was surprisingly easy for Izuku, who was the first to return his copy, along with another gloomy boy that caught Izuku's eye with his shaggy purple hair.

The boy– Shinsou Hitoshi according to the name written on the sheet– has stared at him in a mysterious way before looking away and leaving the room without a word. Not long after Izuku did the same and exited the building as a weird height slowly spread over his body. Was he tired after using all of his neurons at once earlier to the point of overheating all of them?

And then, it happened.

Midoriya was on his way to the orphanage after leaving the academy. Excitation and stress were fuming inside his mind, leaving Izuku mumbling to himself from the school to the train station. What if he failed? Does the academy have catch-up tests? Maybe there's a limitation of the number of students admitted in general courses like the hero's. Wait, according to the previous interview of the school's headmaster, fifty students were admitted in general courses last year. Which makes ten more than heroic classes. Is there really a limit then? He remembered Present Mic had barely been admitted due to his poor results in his first year. He said so in his thirty-second interview five months ago and—

A scream stopped the flow of Izuku's thoughts just as he was stepping in the familiar alley he usually took as his favorite shortcut. Midoriya raised his eyes previously fixing the ground as he was continuously mumbling and then- he froze.

About twenty or thirty men had monopolized the tiny place, throwing blades and fists at each other with such brutality that Izuku didn't know if he was watching villains or wild beasts for a second. Blood was squirting as soon as claws and quirks clashed together.

A war zone. With gangsters who were definitely villains.

Some of them collapsed on the ground, big puddle of viscous red leaving their chilling bodies. Probably dead. Midoriya gulped, taking a step back but ended up staggering and falling on his butt. It would have been easy to get up and run as soon as possible. If only he wasn't horribly unlucky.

Because this simple mistake brought all eyes right on him. Silence followed for an eternal minute, before Midoriya realizes how doomed he was.

"Shit."

The first curse of many to come.

He stood up, a bit too late. One of them already he dashed at Izuku to hunt him down. He was now a witness. Something they have to dispose of. The villains still standing suddenly rushed toward Izuku too, aiming to kill him or knock him out before he calls for help.

"Oh God. Shit—" He miraculously dodged an iron claw striving for his throat. The tired feeling still up kept Izuku from running too far. His head was heavy, too heavy to not see his surroundings without blurry spots spinning everywhere. Where did this exhaustion come from?!

A villain pressed a bloody hand to his throat, brutally pinning him against the wall while leaving sticky red trails under his chin in contrast with Izuku's pale skin.

"L-Let me.. g-" Izuku hissed through his muffled breath.

A mysterious smell spread under Izuku's nose. A scent in which the teen could perceive hints of sugar and exotic aromas. What was that?

"Sorry, boy. I have nothing against you but... I need to kill you." The villain said, his smirk indicating he was not actually sorry. More like mischievously excited.

Black spots took over his vision. His throat was burning, his lungs aching. He was going to die. He heard some villains snicker behind his assailant. The lack of air made his every nerves feel the absolute need to breath.

He was going to die.

Not even as a hero.

Only as a powerless civilian with an atrocious misfortune that have been following him all his life. Will he meet his mom after this?

'No no no no. Not like this. Please, not like this…!'

Midoriya's forces were leaving his body.

'Someone… All Might… Kacchan… Please-'

Izuku thought it was the end. He could almost hear the mocking voice of the blond telling him to shut the fuck up and die in silence.

And then, everything went very fast. Darkness enveloped Izuku's senses like a sweet, lethal sleep. It felt like the burning in his throat blew up in a devastating energy, as Izuku's body took control of his limbs.

One moment he was pinned against the wall and the second after, Izuku was free and tasting the exquisite flavor of the sweetness he just smelled earlier. Delicious liquid flew down his throat no longer suffocating. The burning transformed into sparks of unknown delights. Izuku didn't even pay attention to the scream he got from his almost-killer. Or the stares filled with horror the villains were giving him.

"His… his quirk… vanished?!" They gasped.

Izuku just dropped the bloodless corpse at his feet and flew next at mountain-like villain to pierce his neck with his shining fangs. He sucked him dry in less than a minute and like the first victim, his stony skin turned suddenly into fragile flesh like any other human being. The man doesn't have the time to look surprised as he falls on the ground, next to his fellow comrades.

One man finally came to his senses and tried to attack Midoriya behind his back. He stopped and blink once, then twice in front of the empty space where Izuku previously stood. The boy had disappeared. The villain didn't have the time to look up when his instincts told him to do so. Before the man sees the green haired teen above his head Izuku kicked him hard behind the nape, sending him into some pile of trash bordering the alley.

The remaining gangsters went to assail Izuku together, forgetting their previous loathing against each other to put their current mutual enemy down.

Izuku was still in a bliss, not realizing he was beating some dangerous hooligans by himself without a drop of sweat. He crushed them all as if they were not even using their quirks. He was too fast. Too thirsty. Each villains was collapsing one by one, either stunned or sucked dry without one drop of blood remaining in their veins.

"M-Monster!"

"Run!"

A couple of seconds was enough for them to disappear away from the teen, who stayed alone among the bodies scattered all over the alley. The delicious smell was still here, but Izuku regained control of his senses and movements. The sight had him paralyzed instantly.

"...What... the hell?!" Another curse.

"What- How did I… Wait. Is that… is that blood?!" He put a trembling hand over the corner of his mouth. Izuku paled.

"Oh my god. Ohmygodohmygod— What did I do- What happened!? I just came across a villains fight a-and I was going to get killed and- and then-" He mumbled in a panicked whisper.

A tasty smell- Dying- Blackout- Sweet and delicious- Fight- More blood—

Blood. BLOOD.

He drunk blood! And he didn't find it repulsive..? Another detail hit his mind as Izuku started to remember every moment of his 'blackout'. As soon as he's drunk their blood, the villains quirks have just… faded almost immediately. As if their blood made him capable of erasing their power. As if Izuku had had… the power to vanish any quirk with just a drop of hemoglobin.

Like he had a Quirk.

He, Izuku Midoriya, quirkless since his birth and useless as fuck for everything except having good grades, with a Quirk?

Hahaha. No. Nonononono- he won't fall for that. Fate has just been such a bastard with Izuku for him to just... get a glimmer of hope all of sudden.

…..

But.

...what if-

Just for a moment-

he really has-

a…

Quirk?

He stared at his hands. And stared. And stared again until his pupils became dry. He blinked. He could still feel it. The power he's absorbed, changing it into nothingness through the shell of its user. He'd erased their quirks. By drinking their blood.

He erased them.

Like his idol number two- the underground pro-hero Eraserhead.

Like a hero himself.

He didn't notice the tears falling down his cheeks till he saw them dripping in his palms. He stared, and stared, and stared again and- he smiled.

Oh god. He had a Quirk.

"I… have a quirk…" he murmured and then repeated, "I have a quirk."

He closed his hands into fists and his smile widened through the salty drops. "I can be a hero..! I have a quirk! KACCHAN, I HAVE A QUIRK!" He raised his fists in the air. "I CAN BE A HERO!"

The sight of blood and unconscious villains did not matter to him anymore. Neither did his good manners as he swore one more time, "I CAN BE A FUCKING HERO!"

He was just glad his dream came true in the end. After everything he was forced to go through, his prayers has finally been heard. He could definitely do it now. He was going to-

"Aaah~ boring."

Izuku froze. He didn't felt any presence until now, and he didn't expect someone to be hiding during all of his emotional outburst. Wait, since when were they watching him exactly…?

The voice got closer as the stranger continued, "with such an unexpected development I was expecting to see the most interesting denouement in the end, but damn…"

Midoriya slowly turn around to see the man who had just interrupted his one and only moment of joy. His emerald eyes met with fierce, glaring red ones behind the form of one of many hands placed on his face. Bright blue-white hair covered the rest of his face, the only other thing visible being his strangely chapped lips making him look constantly dehydrated.

"A hero? Really? I'm utterly, absolutely, atrociously disappointed."

"W-Who are you?!"

The man- teen?- stopped a few feet away from Izuku who forced himself to not take a step back. The other ignored his question. "Do you want to be a hero that much?" He didn't let the boy answer and continued, "You will just end up crushed by the natural standards of this fucked up society that wants the so called heroes to be strong, flashy and disgustingly eager for glory wherever they go. That's what are heroes nowadays. Just small and pathetic pile of scums—"

"You're wrong!" Midoriya cut him off. He took a step forward while burning his eyes into the stranger's ones. He didn't know who he was but Izuku was not going to let the man disgrace his idols. "Heroes are good people who save whoever is in danger! They don't care about fame as long as they can help. They don't need glory! They deserve gratitude for everything they accomplish!"

A silence followed and the two glared at each other without a word. That is, until the blue-haired young man begins to sneer, then burst out of laughter, making Midoriya more and more nervous.

"They 'save people?'"

"Y-Yeah." Izuku didn't know where he was trying to get at.

"So tell me, mister future pro-hero something–" he smirked, "where are they now?"

Izuku blinked. "Huh?"

"I don't see anyone here so, tell me. Where are your precious heroes now? I hope you don't think you're not in danger right now."

Instinctively, Izuku began to retreat. He almost tripped over one of the villains as he did so. "W-What are you… what do you want from me?"

The villain -Izuku was sure he was not a simple civilian- pretended to think for a second. He started to scratch his neck as if debating the answer.

"What I want? Mmmh. Don't know. I was just passing by and watched this boring fight between those little scums. Then I saw a boring weakling try to run and got caught and I expected to see him die but he suddenly turned out to be a damn vampire with a quirk. And he wants to be a fucking hero. What a joke. Really, what would I want to do with that, huh?"

His eyes changed into icy red orbs. Their intensity was such that it made Izuku totally frozen. That man was dangerous. Izuku could guess so just by looking at the darkly powerful aura surrounding the stranger. Midoriya was a late bloomer. He probably couldn't defend himself so soon after discovering his brand new quirk.

He stepped back again. "If you have nothing to do with me, just leave." He tried to keep his voice firm but couldn't control the weak quiver of his throat.

"Nothing..?" The man narrowed his eyes, "True, I had nothing to say in the beginning. But now I do."

"What?"

"Your pathetic speech about heroes makes me want to vomit. I almost gagged, seriously. Boring. Boring, boring, booooring. You're disgustingly boring. Wait. Maybe it's fate?"

"…" Izuku was at a loss of words. Was he crazy? He didn't like the sound of this anyway. The villain walked towards Izuku.

"That's right. Fate has crossed our paths in order for me to make you understand. Or… to help you no longer be boring. Oooh, sounds nice~"

"D-Don't come any closer!" yelled the green-eyed teen at the sight of the man approaching. How did he activate his power already? Izuku didn't know yet how to use his quirk!

"That good, I was bored until now. So you're gonna save me like the little hero you are and entertain me till I have no more use for you, okay?"

"W-What?! No! Why do I have to-"

"Come here."

Izuku did the total opposite. He ran. Well, tried to. He was still a bit dizzy since the appearance of his quirk and didn't have much strength as before. "Kurogiri" the man called, and all of sudden a dark purple portal took form in front of the boy. Panicking, Midoriya came to a stop and immediately prepared to turn around, only to meet the blue-haired man face to face without warning. Izuku didn't even hear the villain sneak behind his back.

"Where do you think you're going?"

He grabbed Izuku's throat using only four fingers and lean closer to the boy's terrified expression.

"NO! LET GO!"

The man chuckled. "Don't worry Pet. It's gonna be fun, I promise~" He pushed Izuku's shivering form into the black portal behind him.

"Please no- Let me go!"

"Welcome to the family."

The teen struggled once more but too late. His body was already being pulled in the dark mist. The last thing he saw was the sadistic smirk of the villain and the worrisome promise of an eternal agony in his hands.

The last thing he thought was that Fate is a fucking shithead.

.

Sassy Midoriya is coming.
