All characters (exept the OCs) belong to Butch Hartman and Nickelodeon.

Chapter One: Greetings from the beyond?

Danny Fenton never expected it. He never expected this day to end like this. He never expected to get the shock of his live. Way worse than everything he ever went threw. So sad, because actually the day began pretty nice…

Danny woke up and felt the soft breeze going threw his hair. He felt tired and exhausted. Like every morning since the diagnosis. He felt the sun and the cozy fresh air that came in from somewhere. He looked around to see that he was alone in thier bedroom. The window was open. He could hear the birds singing outside and there was the sound of splashing water. So that meaned she was outside to water the plants. Danny carefully lift up, put on his slippers and his bathrobe and went downstairs. The sun was shining. No cloud on the blue sky. It was going to be another hot summer-day here in thier small town in the North of Illinois.

Danny walked down the squeaking stairs. Carefully stepping on the last step, because he knew that it won't hold any longer. Not the only thing in the house that needed to be fixed. The whole house seemed to beg for repairs. Almost every part of it squaked and crunched. The problem was very simple: They were not able to pay it. When Danny reached the kitchen he could already smell the fresh coffee in the maschine. He saw some fruits and eggs next to the stove. Looks like she prepared everything before she went outside to water thier ‚winter-supplies' before it is too hot outside. He watched her, using a water-hose to pour them and he saw that she is saving water. Looks like they run out of water, too now. For the garden she only used rain water they collect in a big rain barrel right behind the house. But it hadn't rain for weeks now. She looked up and saw him threw the open window. She winked, he winked back and turned around to get some coffee. But he saw that she placed ‚it' right next to the coffee maker. Maybe to remind him, that he had to do it every morning. Before breakfast and especially before he drinks coffee. Danny sat down and put the bandage around his arm to start to measure his blood-pressure. That was when Sam finally entered the kitchen…

"Morning!" Sam Fenton said with a tired smile and went to Danny to give him a good-morning-kiss on his forehead. She had two mature tomatos in her hand, ready to use them for breakfast, too.

"Good morning, Sam!" Danny replied when the device start to beep. Danny avoid a loud moan. But Sam mentioned that Danny tried to hide the result.

"And? As low as usual?" Sam asked while she took the frying-pan out of the shelv.

"Ehm…" Danny didn't want to worry her but before he could turn it off, Sam already looked on the display of the sphygmomanometer and start to moan, too.

"Aww… it's getting worse." she moaned worried and shacked her head. "Danny, are the pills the doctor gave to you helping? Because your blood-pressure is as low as before and the doctor said you should consultate him again…"

"Sam, I am fine." Danny interfered while he wrote the result of the measure on the list, as the doctor ordered him the last time. But it was honestly, not true.

Several months ago, Danny start to feel weak and tired all the times. He thought it was because he did not sleep very well. But it became worse and than he once faded away at work. His colleagues called an ambulance. He spend two days in Hospital were they figured out that his blood-pressure was dangerously low. Noone knew why. And so far, nobody figured out.

Sam handed Danny a big pill and a glass of water. With a harsh glare she ordered him to drink it. Danny felt like a little boy whose mother forces to take his medicine. The pills the doctor ordered him to take became bigger and bigger with every month. He hated to take them. But he had to. Without them his blood-pressure would be so low that he won't be able to stand up…

Sam prepared an omlette with the tomatos she just harvested in the garden and Danny washed the fruits. It bothred Danny to see his wife so worried. She was a goth-girl when they were teenagers. Now the only thing that was left from this time was that she prefered black, or at least dark clouthes. She also didn't wear make up anymore. She aged a lot since Danny's diagnosis. She put half of the omlette on Danny's plate and the rest on hers before going to the fridge to get the soy-milk for her coffee. Danny prefered it black. Better black than with soy-milk…, he thought.

"I ask my boss, today." she suddenly said.

"Sam, please… No need!" Danny tried to convince her. He knew the matter. "You worked so hard to collect all these overtime. You don't have to…"

"Danny, it's fine. Really!" Sam said but Danny could hear that it was still bothering her. "I ask my boss to pay me off all my overtime. We really need the money."

"And you worked so hard to collect all these overtime to have some extra free days for your environmental actions…"

"I allready talked with my fellow campaigners. It's not a problem if I miss one or two protests."

"I am so sorry, Sam. It's just my fault…"

"Danny, it's not. It is not your fault that you are currently unable to work."

Danny didn't deny that they are in difficult times. His health problems made him unable to work. It was now up to Sam to bring home the bacon for them and thier four kids. And latter had needs, too. Off course they mentioned that thier father becomes weaker and weaker. Off course they mentioned that they were not able to afford everything they wanted. They were not happy when Danny and Sam told them that thier summer-vacation is cancelled because they had no money to go somewhere. Danny very appreciated that his sister offered to take the kids for several weeks. Jazz had a house in a suburb of Chicago. And she loved her nephews and nieces very deeply. So, she offered them to take the kids for three weeks and show them Chicago and it's surroundings. That was two days ago. Danny and Sam meanwhile had time to find a solution for thier problems. And there were a lot of…

They were broke! Danny is sick. They had to finish off some repairs here in thier more than 60 years old house, which was honestly a bit too small for a family of six. The kids had needs. The car needed to be fixed. The dish-washer was broken. The washing mashine was going to break down, too soon.

So far they were able to pay all bills. But according to thier calculations they run out of money, pretty fast. Thier savings were depleted. They really hoped that the bank grants them a deferment of payment for the mortgage. If not, they would have to prepare to move into one of the much smaller mobile homes in the mobile-home-park at the edge of town…

Sam finished her breakfast faster than Danny and left to prepare for work. Just 15 minutes later she was ready to leave. Her colleague would pick her up. Danny meanwhile start to wash up. Since Sam was the one who had to work longer, he was the home-maker now.

"Okay, Danny… I have to go now. Don't forget to take your medicine. I watered the plants in the garden but please look that the neighbour's cat don't uses our tomatos as toilet again. Oh, and please look for the TV. Yesterday evening it start to flicker."

"Flicker? Please don't tell me that the TV is now broken, too." Danny moaned. One more thing that breaks down.

"I hope not!" Sam said when she opened the door. "The kids would freak out."

"I'll look for it."

"Thanks, Danny. If something happens call me. Bye…"

Sam left. Threw the big window in the kitchen he saw her walking to the street just when a white Toyota stopped in front of thier house. Sam formed a carpool with three colleagues. He watched her entering the car and driving away. He felt still bad that she sacrifices all her overtime only because he is not able to contribute something. But they had no other choise. For nothing in the world Sam would ask her parents for support. It bothered her enough that they knew about Danny's current condition. Several days ago she said that they already plan his funeral and that it would be the only thing they would be willing to pay for. That was so creepy…

Jazz would support them. But Danny didn't dare to ask her. He didn't know why. Was he afraid of something? Of what? She is his sister. She always supported him. And she earns pretty well. A lot of things went threw his mind. He also had an aunt in Arkansas… but she was not able to pay her bills herself. Sometimes Danny thought that he and Jazz will inherit a lot of liabilities from her…

Danny stopped to brood and start to work in the house…

Both he and Sam, knew that they had to use the time with the kids out for the repairs. And with Danny beeing forced to stay at home, he had a lot of time for them. After an uneventful morning and noon in house and garden, busy with tidy up, gardening and some small repairs… Danny went to the living-room to look for the TV.

Danny took the remote controller and turned it on. A local channel aired a news programme. So far there was no flicker. The TV worked normally…

"Hmm… looks like Sam exaggerated…" Danny murmured and left the room.

It was hot in the house. He had to drink something. So he went to the kitchen and just opened the refrigerator, when he suddenly felt an icy wind…

"Boah… what the…" Danny said before he smashed the door of the refrigerator close and saw the weird green light in the house…

Danny was shocked! What was that? Where is this green light comming from? And this noise? Why it is so cold?

"Hey, Danny…" Danny heared a familiar voice saving. A voice… he knew that it was impossible to ever hear again.

Danny carefully peeked around the corner to see nothing weird. There was the living-room and nothing else. And the green light vanished, too. Danny went back and looked around. He could swear that he just heared a voice. A really familiar voice…

"Hello!" Danny yelled, when he was back in the living room.

Nothing! There was nothing weird or unusual in the room. Danny hold his head and shacked it. He is just tired. Or did he forget to take his medicine? Gosh, Sam will get mad if he does not take it. Danny turned around to get back to the kitchen when the TV start to flicker…

"Look… that's you…" suddenly another familiar voice said. This time a female one. Danny was really surprised now…

"Sam?!" Danny could swear that this female voice sound like his wife. But higher and so unter…

"Hey, he can hear us…" another voice said.

Now Danny was convinced that someone was watching him. These voices… He could hear voices. One of them sound like Sam's. And one of them sound like Tucker's… No that's impossible. Absolutely impossible… Or does he start to see Ghosts…?

"Who is there?" Danny yelled.

He could hear rumble. And shrieking… The TV continued flickering and it became worse. It became cold. So cold that Danny could see his breath…

"What the hell is going on here." Danny moaned.

The air in the room was suddenly so cold. Too cold, considering the fact that it was a hot summer-day outside and that the air condition was off… like someone blew cold conditioned from somewhere directly into thier living room.

"Danny…" suddenly another familiar voice said from far away. "…are you downstairs?"

"Aaagghhh…" Danny start to scream. This voice… this voice… when did he hear this voice for the last time? Decades ago! Yeah… 22 years ago…

Suddenly the green light appeared again… Small green flashes pranced over the wall right around the TV. The wall looked so weird, too. Like it is shriveling. The wallpaper looked like it is going to fall of the wall. Danny went closer to the wall. He heared a buzz. That was not the TV… it came from the wall.

"Hello!" Danny screamed again. This time directly towards the wall.

"Shut up, adult Danny…" the Tucker voice hissed from the wall. "… or you will bust us…"

"Aghh… What's going on here?" Danny yelled. Tucker's voice! That's impossible.

"Oh my gosh … Jack, come down and look at this." suddenly the voice of his mother yelled. Danny start to scream, again…

"Aghhhh… WHO ARE YOU? Where are you? Show yourself…!"

Danny walked up and down across the wall. Looking for something he did not know what or why. A hidden microphone? A hidden speaker? Is the voice comming out of the TV? Danny went closer to the flickering screen. He tried to change the channel but there was no reaction. Just the flickering became worse and the voices… he could still hear someone but now they were whispering… Danny hold his ear against the TV-screen, trying to hear the voices again. Why they suddenly stopped? Do they try to hide from him, now? But why they happened anyway. Is it over?

"OH MY GODNESS…!" suddenly the voice of his father cried out loudly. "THAT IS AN OLD DANNY!"

"Who is there?" Danny yelled again, but this time not mad, but desperate.

"Dad, you scare him… Jack it works… Mr. Fenton there is smoke comming out… I mean you scare me… He can hear us…" various people said wildly. Suddenly the green light appeared again and greated something right behind the TV. "…that was not supposed to happen… I look terrible… what is that…"

Danny, suddenly saw some figures in the green light that formed something... It looked like a window… Yeah… it was like a window. Or a door? And he saw people in there. Dead people!

The people at the other side had a loud fight. Everyone tried to catch something that looked like a remote-controller… And than Danny saw the people, whose voices he just heared…

"M… MOM!?... DAD!?" Danny yelled shocked.

The group stopped fighting and turned to face Danny… it was obvious… There were his father, his mother and Tucker… next to a girl that looked like a teenage Sam and a young boy who looked like him… standing in a dark weird lab-like room with metal walls and weird stuff that Danny was not able to identify.

"WHAT THE HELL…" Danny yelled shocked.

"Oh my gosh… you look so old …" the boy, who looked like Tucker, said to the boy who looked like him.

"He can see and hear us." the girl who looked like Sam murmured.

Danny (actually both Danny's) just stared on each other's ‚realm' or whatever it was with the adult one starting to cry … This is a dream… Or he just died…

"No… NO THIS IS NOT TRUE…" Danny yelled again. "You… you are not real… no you…"

"Ehem…" his father start to murmur and smiled awkwardly. "Hello… Danny!"

Danny start to scream in horror. His parents… are that really his parents? Here in the hole in his living-room-wall…? Danny shied back and stumbled over the carpet. With a loud crash he landed on the coffee-table and slipped on the ground… Screaming loudly.

"Hey, no need to be scared…" his ‚mother' said, trying to calm him down. But that scared Danny just more. Tears ran down his face, while something in the room start to burn as suddenly black smoke surrounded them.

"Dad it burns …"

"Aaagghhh…. GHOSTS…" (adult) Danny screamed before the ‚door' or 'window' whatever vanished in a puff of black smoke.

Danny just remembered anything again… all the bad memories he successfully suppressed for 22 years… they hit his mind with the power of a tidal wave. Danny felt like he is falling. Falling down deeper and deeper into the darkness that suddenly surrounded him…

Please be honest. Was the beginning good? I tried to make it surprised and mysteriously.
