Chapter 13: The past never leaves you!
Sam tried to hold herself somewhere, while she felt the car 'scratching' over the ground. The car was definetely not intact anymore. She could see the and feel that the police-car was litterally cut in two halfs. The front part with the two police-men was gone. And the rear part with Sam inside spinned over the asphalt and finally stopped when it crashed backwards against a rock next to the street.
Sam was thrown into the soft, rear seat that worked as a cushion and therefore she was unhurt. She was dazed, everything was still circling in her head but she was able to see the 'front' of the police-car in the distance. The police-car was really cut in two halfs, right behind the front seats and before the barrier that seperated the rear-seat from the front area. And it was laying around 100 feet away. Sam was able to see the two police-men fighting with thier seatbelts. They seemed unhurt, but suddenly the front-part burst in flames...
Sam let out a horrified scream when she saw the front of the police-car exploding in a big fireball. Devouring the two men within a second, Sam feared that her car-half will explode soon, too. There was the separation wall in front of her. In panic , she tried to open the doors. But they were locked. The only way to open them was from outside. It was difficult enough to grab the door-handle with her hands handcuffed behind her back. But she was not able to look away from the burning front part of the car. They were dead... there was no chance that the two police-men are still alive. Sam was terrified. Suddenly the memories on 1982 shot back into her mind... she is back in Amity Park and it happens again...
A pair of cold 'hands' suddenly grabbled Sam by her shoulders and Sam could feel that she was lift up. Before she could respond, or even scream, Sam realized that she litterally 'phrased' threw the roof of the police-car. How? Is she dead and a ghost now? Sam tried to look up, only seeing bright 'shinining' clouthes that remind her... a cheerleader-uniform?! A cheerleader-uniform of the Casper High! How they looked like, before the school got destroyed... It was another ghost, that just kidnapped her again.
"MANSON..." it screamed.
Sam screamed again. This thing called her by her maiden name, too. Trying to hit the ghost with her hands. They were free? Somehow, maybe while she was beeing pulled threw the roof of the car (beeing intaingible), the handcuffs were pulled off her hands. So she was able to slap the 'cheerleader'. But that was nearly useless as her hands went right threw the 'body of the ghost without harm.
Together they were floating around five to six feet over the ground. Once again, Sam did everything to defend herself from the 'monster' or whatever it was. She knew that her unborn child would be killed if she falls down on the ground. She had to find a way to get back on the ground before getting rid off the ghost that tries to take her with it to somewhere. The treetops… maybe she is able to grab on a branch of one of the trees to hold on. She had no clue where they were going. She only knew that she was 'near' Amity Park. The forests around her were to dense to see anything. Is she getting closer to the town or is she moving away? Would it be safer to hide somewhere in town or get away from it?
Sam could see that the ghost somehow affected her. It was like she was a ghost, too as long as the real ghost touched her. That's why they where floating threw the trees without any harm.
"Let me down! Let me down…!" Sam screamed again while she tried to figure out which dead A-listener attacked her this time. "Whoever you are, let me down… You died because you're own fault… FIRE!"
Why Sam did not keep the lighter? But just screaming the word 'fire' let her kidnapper get upset. And so she was dropped…
Sam closed her eyes and prayed. She feared that the fall would kill her baby. But the fall was surprisingly short and soft… And so she fell into a hole of soft mud …When Sam opened her eyes again she realized that it was really a mud hole. But at least she was alive and unharmed.
Still full of fear, Sam climbed out of the mud and hid in the bushes. The ghost of her former 'classmate' hold her ears, got afraid and flew away. Sam continued hiding in the bushes for a minute or two before she ran to a nearby free field with some benches. And than she saw it… Amity Park… 22 years after…
Amity Park had changed a lot in the past 22 years... It took years to rebuild the city. And as many people left permanentely after the fire, some areas were never rebuild. Smaller buildings stood there were once bigger ones stood. The town lost it's charm. A big park with a big monument as a memorial for the thousand victims was erected where once the explosion had it's orgins. There where big empty spaces everywhere. All in all, Amity Park became a much 'greener' city. But some people saw the green parts as 'scars'. As leftovers of the great catastrophe.
It was the very first time for Sam to see Amity Park since 1982. She always thought that she and Danny will be here on this spot together. The 'viewpoint' she was on right now… Here was the provisional open-air-hospital where she saw Danny for the last time before her parents forced her to California. Here was once the huge chaos. A big sighn with an old photo of the 'old' Amity Park and the destroyed Amity Park was standing next to a long stair down to a neighbourhood in the valley. She always imagined both of them looking down on the town for a long time, talking about how much it changed, which building was only renovated, which one is new and which one was never rebuild... And now Sam had no time to wallow in memories. It was always a secret wish of her to come here. Just to see how the city rised out of the ashes like a phoenix... or at least tried to as it never fully recovered. But Sam had to continue to run down the stair below the viewpoint to reach one of the houses there. She had to call the police... Police that won't take her back to the burning guys-in-white's prison and help her to find Danny...
In the other dimension...
Maddie Fenton suddenly dropped her cup. An ice-cold shiver ran down her back while she felt some kind of 'stinch' right into her hearth. When her cup shattered on the kitchen floor, her husband Jack turned around scared to look after his wife.
"Maddie, are you allright?"
"I... I don't know... Jack, I have this weird feeling..." Maddie explained. Actually both still had to think about the recent events. With the movie they saw, the knowledge that there is another Danny, and all the other things they learned. Both were worried for 'alternative-Danny' and his health-issues or why he is somehow connected to the ghost-zone. And now Maddie had this weird feeling that right now something terrible was going on there... and she was so true...
Sam meanwhile continued running to the houses she saw below her place and cried for help. Cursing on the something, that once appeared in her living-room and started this nightmare. She was in the eastern part of Amity Park. She guessed that at least. The eastern suburbs were spared from the fire somehow back then. And she could swear that this houses look familiar. A little boy was playing in a garden. Sam screamed, hoping to catch the child's attention. The boy looked up the hill, saw Sam in her dirty dress running towards him and start to scream, too…
"Mommie … !" the boy, Sam guessed that he was 4 at most, screamed scared and dropped his toy-plane. Of course he was scared when he saw the dirty and messed Sam. Sam just reached the fence to the garden of the house when she saw the boy running inside.
Still full of adrenanile, Sam tried to climb over the fence to get into the garden. Just in that moment the mother of the boy came out off the house.
"What is going on here… AGHHH…" the woman let out a horrified scream when she saw Sam.
"Help me… I was kidnapped …" Sam screamed again and collapsed into the woman's arms…
Danny meanwhile opened his eyes again. He found himself in a dark but kind of familiar room. He could feel that the surroundings kind of affected him. His body felt so… 'light' and better than before. But everything in his head was still circling. He mentioned that he was sitting on something cold and hard.
"Are you awake now?" a familiar voice asked unpatiently.
"What the… where am I?" Danny yelled shocked when he fully woke up and realized that he was not dreaming. But he was also not able to move because he was spellbound to whatever he was sitting on. " Who is there? What is that for a place?"
"You don't recognize it, don't you?" the voice asked. "You really don't recognize your parents lab? I admit it looks different without all the stuff…"
Danny looked around again. This room… he saw it… he saw it before! Not in that vortex in his living-room-wall, but… years ago… when he was a little boy, right before that incident… It was empty, but it looked like it was once full of stuff. He saw electric-lines, something that looked like a light-switch and a lot of dust. It was too dark to see more. Some candles
"Show yourself… where am I? And where is my wife?"
"One thing after the other…" the voice said before suddenly Vlad Masters appeared out of the darkness. Revealing him to be the voice. "Your in your parents lab and your wife is on the way…"
Danny was shocked to see his parents old friend in front of him. "Mr. Masters…?"
"Vlad!" Vlad corrected him. "Suprised to see me… ?"
Sam meanwhile was brought into the woman's living-room. The woman send her son to his room while she gave Sam a glass of water. Sam had visible injuries all over. Her dress was soaked in mud and she was so pale that the woman feared Sam will become unconscious soon. Sam asked for her phone ever and ever again. First the woman was to shocked to respond. Especially after Sam's statement that she was kidnapped. But finally the woman handed her the phone.
Sam's first thought to call the police suddenly became a bad idea when she remembered that the police is propably still convinced by the lies of this guys-in-white that she set thier prison on fire. But who else she could call? Jazz! Yeah, she is the only person that could help her now…
Latter, was shocked when she saw what was going on at her brother's house… The house was covered by a big 'tent'. Like those exterminators use. The whole property was surrounded by barriers and warning-signs. Jazz came here alone, without the kids or her husband, after one of Danny's friends called to tell her that her brother and his wife were attacked by 'a big glowing monster' in thier living room. Jazz didn't hestiate and got into her car to drive two hours only to see that these 'guys-in-white' arrived before and treated this place like the crash-site of an UFO… The road was closed, too. Neighbours were forced to leave thier houses. It was definetely not normal what was going on here.
"I demand to know what happens here. Where is my brother? Where is my sister-in-law? Who are you? And what is this insurgence?" Jazz asked another man in a white suit, who only glared on her and tried to send her away. But Jazz remained adamant. "Answer my questions! Or I will call the police… and that camera team over there!"
Unimpressed, the white dressed man turned around to see a team from a local TV-station arriving at the other end of the road. The man only murmured something into his headset and Jazz had to witness the reporter and his cameraman beeing arrested by two other 'guys in white'. Jazz realized that it was useless to discuss and just to prevent to get arrested she left and tried to figure out somewhere else about her brother or Sam. A second later she could hear her cell-phone ringing in her purse. She expected it to be her husband or one of the kids. But it was an unknown number …
"Gosh, Jazz please pick up the phone!" Sam begged. Hoping that her sister-in-law was not kidnapped, too.
"HELLO!" Jazz said worried. Sam was relieved.
"Oh, Jazz… I am so happy to hear you." Sam said relieved.
"Sam, oh my gosh… Where are you? What happened?"
"You won't believe it… I am in Amity Park…" Sam told and start to tell Jazz what happened so far…
Vlad meanwhile had a story to tell, too…
"I admit that I never expected this day will come. After learning about you beeing alive I actually didn't care. Nor for your sister. There was no use in you two. The person who ruined my life and stole the love of my life was already dead. His children were old enough to take care of themself and I had enough power to increase my influence by my own."
"What are you talking about? Who ruined your life?"
"Your stupid, clumsy dumbheaded father!" Vlad told, his hands turning into fists. "I have no clue how your father was able to not to blow up your house and kill you all before the fire by himself…"
Danny could see that Vlad was full of anger, bitterness and hate…
Sam meanwhile told her sister-in-law the short version of her imprisionment, her arrest and the horrific attempt to kidnap her. Right after she finished she saw the woman shying away from her scared.
"…these guys-in-white are all over here…" Jazz told her.
"Don't get close to them!" Sam said shocked. "Or, did you already told them who you are…?"
"Well… I…" Jazz turned around again to see the man, she talked to two minutes ago, talking to two other men, wearing the same white clouthes and they all looked on her. Suddenly she felt like targeted.
"Jazz, get away from there…"
Jazz already turned around and start to search her keys. "Sam… what is going on, here …"
"Jazz, listen to me… don't trust this guys-in-white. Take the kids and get them away!" Sam ordered.
"Okay…I'll call Ho…" Jazz said worried before someone grabbled her by her shoulder.
"Ma'am… you come with us!" a guy-in-white said demanding and before Jazz was able to respond the man already grabbled her cell-phone to throw it on the ground to crush it under his boot.
"…hey, leave me alone…" were Jazz last words, Sam was able to hear, before the call was suddenly over and Sam could hear the beeping in the line.
"Jazz? Jazz!? Dammed…!" Sam knew that something terrible happened to her. She knew… the kids are in trouble. Yeah,… Horatio… Jazz' husband, she had to warn him. Sam did not mention, that the other woman listened to her whole story in horror and sneaked away with her cell-phone to call the police in her son's bedroom. Sam meanwhile hammered the number of Jazz' house into the phone…
"…The number you have dialed is currently not available… Please try again, later!..." a female voice said from a tape.
Sam got more and more panicked. She tried it again. With the same result… the guys-in-white already took over Jazz' house, too.
"Aghhhh… Ma'am!" Sam screamed for the woman that helped her.
The woman hid with her son in the boy's bedroom to call the police with her cell-phone…
"…yeah she claims to be the wife of the naked man, they told about in the radio. And she was in that research facility in…"
"MA'AM…" Sam screamed when she stormed into the bedroom. Instinctively the woman throw herself in front of her child to 'protect' it from Sam and her crazyness. "…Tell me… Who are the guys-in-white?"
"Don't harm us …, Please take whatever you want and leave us alone…" the woman was scared.
"These people kidnapped us. They just took my sister-in-law hostage, too. And now I can't reach my kids…" Sam realized that the woman was afraid of her. Or she was afraid of the guys-in-white. She just hugged her son and looked on Sam terrified. "…listen I am not here to hurt you or your son. I am a mother, too. I just try to understand why these people are after me or my family."
Finally the woman start to talk…
Danny meanwhile start to realize that Vlad was not really a friend of his parents.
"Listen… whatever my father did to you… I am sorry. But… maybe we find a way to solve this…"
"Do you really think that this is so easy. No! Actually I tried to forget it and accept my fate. But the past… it never leaves you. You can't run away from it. I actually tried to forget that your father destroyed my life and stole the love of my life. Maddie … oh, the only woman I ever loved…"
"You're talking about my mother?" Danny yelled shocked.
"I was supposed to be your father, Daniel." Vlad told. "I was supposed to marry her. I was supposed to become sucessful…"
"Aren't you sucessful? Didn't you... marry someone... You… you have this big castle, a lot of money…"
"Hmm… yeah that is right. I admit that I am also a bit thankful. I mean without your fathers clumsiness, I wouldn't be the one I am today…"
Danny was shocked when suddenly a bright shining black ring appeared around Vlad's waist. The ring split into two and one moved up and one down. It looked almost like the same with the boy in his living-room who demanded that he is him. Just the colors were different. And instead of turning a ghost into a human, this time a human turned into a ghost. Everything Danny was able to do was screaming…
Sam meanwhile was listening to the story of the other woman…
According to her, the 'research-facility' was opened in the late 80s. Back then Amity Park was still suffering from the aftermath of the fire. Many people were really disappointed when they realized that Amity Park was not profiting from it. Until today nobody knew which 'company' owned the facility. There were rumors telling that it was actually part of some secret gouvernment authority. The 'employes' there were called guys-in-white because they were really not more than guys-in-white-suits. Everyone was afraid of them and some people believed that they actually control the city. But she really did not know more… But Sam knew the truth. She knew that this was actually part of some 'ghost-hunting and/ or research prison'. Suddenly she remembered what they told her… about Danny's old house in Amity Park…
"…Ma'am, is there somewhere here in Amity Park a restricted area? I mean, a place nobody is allowed to enter?"
"Why?"
"Just answer my question! I'll explain later…"
"Ehm… there is this area down in Fairview." the woman explained. "There is a free field with with a high fence around…"
"They said it was the place where his house once stood..." Sam realized. So at least that was true.
She had to get there... at any cost... The woman would not help her. She was too scared for her safety and that of her child. Sam understood it. She did not want to pull them into trouble, too. So she just ran out. Looking for the main entrace. In the distance, she was already able to hear the police-sirens. They are still after her...
Sam stormed to the front-door. She found a car key on the little table right next to the door. Without really thinking about that it was 'theft', she took the key and stormed out of the house to find a dark-green Volvo combi in the driveway. Sam had to get away from here before the police arrives. And the best way was to hide in a car, she could also use to get to Fairview to see what happened. Danny's old neigbourhood was at the other end of the city...
Sam unlocked the car (so the keys were right), got in, turned on the motor and raced away with sqeaking tires. The other woman did not even mention that her car just got stolen. And so Sam disappeared behind the next corner, just in time before the police arrived...
Danny meanwhile was still trapped... forced to listen what the 'vampire' tells...
