Like any other adults, Gohan and Videl worked five days a week with the weekends being their only days off. Usually, on Saturdays, the couple would lay in bed until their duties couldn't be held off any longer. This morning though, Videl and Gohan had found themselves entangled in each other's arms since the birds began chirping. Since they officially decided to try for baby number two, husband and wife were glued to each other at all times like a couple in their honeymoon stage.
"Gohan," Videl had moaned loudly.
"MOM!" Pan, who had passed by her parent's bedroom door at the perfect moment, screamed in disgust.
The now flushed Videl lifted up the sheets and glared at her husband. "I told you she was up!" she hissed.
"I told you to be quieter!" he spat back as he shot up, using the sheets to hide his nude body.
"Well, at least we got to the important part last night," Videl giggled before planting a soft kiss on her husband's cheek. "Hey, she should be lucky she didn't see us like I did with my dad and one of his floozy girlfriends. No fifteen year old should see the butt hair on their dad."
Gohan gagged at the thought of his nude father-in-law. "Thanks for the picture Vi. How about some breakfast. For starters, I'll make you a super healthy vitamin-rich smoothie which is a key point in operation baby."
"Oh Gohan I love you but I can not have another one of you magical baby-making nasty smoothies," Videl said as she cupped his chin in her hands and kissed him gently on his lips. "I want your waffles and french toast which whip cream."
Gohan frowned. "That doesn't sound too nutrient-dense."
Videl sighed, rolling out of bed. "Fine I'll throw you a bone, I'll take a strawberry, banana, coconut milk, and spinach smoothie. Light on the spinach."
"Fine, but once you're actually pregnant it's back to those healthy smoothies you hate so much," Gohan warned as he followed his wife's lead.
Videl face scrunched up in disgust, "Fine. Now let's hop in the shower before our moody teenager gets hangry on us."
"A toxic trait she learned from her mother," Gohan mumbled as he walked into their bathroom which quickly earned him a slap on his back.
"I heard that!"
"Good Morning honey, how'd you sleep?" Videl casually asked as she approached her daughter in the kitchen, and giving her a soft peck on her cheek before she could dodge it.
Pan promptly groaned in the disgust, wiping her mother's affection off her cheek, her eyes glued to her phone screen. "Did you even brush your teeth yet after you and dad had sex this morning."
"Of course sweetie and it's him you should be worried about where his lips have been," Videl responded as she prepared her morning coffee, knowing this would gross her daughter out even more.
"Mama!" Pan shouted as she jumped out of her seat. "I'm going to get ready for our run but when I come back I don't want to hear any more about your slutty nights with Dad!"
"It took a slutty night to make you might I remind you," Videl taunted further.
Pan angrily mumbled before walking off, passing her dad on the way back to her room. She greeted him with an annoyed and disgusted look. "Next time can you guys decided to screw each other loudly, please send me away.
"I'm making waffles and french toast, by the way, come down in thirty minutes," Gohan shouted down the hall. The echo of the door slamming was all the response he needed before he continued his way to the kitchen
As he made his way downstairs he could hear the sound of another woman and the cries of a baby. Upon entering the kitchen he found Marron clad in a messy nightgown, her hair was frizzy, and dark circles around her eyes. She was frantically crying while rocking her baby back and forth.
"I just don't fucking understand why she won't stop crying!" Marron sobbed.
"Is everything okay Marron?" Gohan asked, Marron, never cursed so hearing the f-bomb leave her mouth meant that this was serious.
"What do you think Gohan!" She cried out. "I'm left at home to take care of her by myself because that's what good moms do on maternity leave right? Well, I must be a terrible mother because nothing I do works! I feel like shit because I can't fucking sleep, or eat, or even take a shower. Trunks left a super important business meeting for a week so I have no help! She just won't stop crying and I don't know what to do!"
"Marron, marron, look at me, it'll be okay. You're not alone sweetie and you're not a terrible mother, you're just exhausted," Videl told her calmly with her hands sandwiching her head. "Gohan's going to take the baby and we're going to get you into the bathtub, then you'll eat breakfast and finally you'll sleep in the guest room for as long as you need to."
"B-b-but what about the V-venus," She hiccuped as tears continued down her face.
Videl gave her a reassuring smile. "Gohan is great with babies, she'll be alright. Now come on give her to Gohan."
Gohan, who had not volunteered to help, hesitantly walked over to Marron to retrieve baby Venus. Today he imagined he would be filled with baby-making action rather than actually caring for a baby. Nonetheless, he could tell Marron was having a first-time parent full-blown meltdown.
He remembered his first one...
"Gohan? What are you doing here?" Chichi hollered, her eyes gazing on her sobbing son and wailing new granddaughter. Her state of confusion didn't prevent her into going into full-blown mother mode "Gohan, get in here!" she shouted, forcefully pulling her in.
"Sorry I didn't call," he yelled over Pan's screams. "Videl went into work after hearing there was a major breakthrough with one of her cases so obviously she had to go. What kind of man would I be if I didn't let her go! She was so worried about losing sight of her goals once the baby came and I promised her that I would do everything I can to make sure that doesn't-"
"Gohan," Chichi said firmly, not in a scolding tone but a tone of love and relaxation. "Sounds like you need some help. I left your bedroom exactly how you left it so how about you can take a nap, let me take care of Pan"
"I can do this mom, I'm a good dad," Gohan argued, looking down at the crying newborn in his arms.
"Oh honey, no one said you weren't," Chichi said sympathetically. Newborns were tough and she had been where her eldest son was, TWICE! The first kid though is always the hardest. "Great dads need sleep too. Plus, it's also been a whole week since I've seen my granddaughter. Really Gohan, I don't mind.
He knew she was right and he knew she wasn't attacking his capability to be a great dad, nonetheless, he couldn't help'' to feel weak and embarrassed. "I just don't understand mom, I've done everything. I fed her, bathed her, entertained her, she just won't stop crying."
"That's exactly how I felt with you when you were this small," Chichi replied with a slight smirk. She approached her son, grabbing the baby right from his nurturing arms. "Babies are an enigma to new parents so don't feel like you're inadequate, you're learning and you're trying your best. One thing new parents fail to realize though is that it's okay to ask for help. You shouldn't be running yourself to exhaustion because it's important for you to be taken care of too, not just her. Just like you want to take care of your baby, I want to take care of mine. So as your mother, I'm ordering you to take a nap."
Gohan sighed as she gently placed the diaper bag on the floor and embraced his mom. "Okay, you're right. But I only need an hour of rest."
Chichi rolled her eyes as she used her free back to run her hands up and down his back. "When you wake up, I'll have your favorite ramen ready."
"Thank you," Gohan said quietly.
"Anything for my baby," Chichi replied.
"Kami! Would shut that baby up?" Pan scoffed as she entered the kitchen, now clad in running shorts and an oversized worn-out tee shirt.
"It's a lot harder than you think," Gohan responded as he comforted the infant by rocking her back and forth. "You mind helping me make a bottle?"
"Ugh no, I have to start getting serious about my conditioning, only six more weeks until basketball tryouts. It's super important that I kill it. Scouts from some of the best high schools are going to be there."
"You're a quarter Saiyan and you're Hercule Satan's granddaughter. You could make any team you want by just showing up," Gohan said, luckily for him the baby's crying was starting to come to a full stop. "Surely you could spare a moment to warm up a bottle for Venus."
"Papa, I'm not going back on those things to make the team. I'm determined to make a name for myself without Grandpa's Satan's help or my awesome genetics. Now, where's mama?" Pan replied, completely ignoring her father's request for help.
"She's helping Marron relax, she needed some help with the baby," He answered. He gave up any hopes of Pan changing her mind so he went to dig through the baby bag Marron had brought.
Pan scoffed before storming out the kitchen. Her parents were really getting under her skin today.
Gohan shrugged her off, assuming her time of the month was approaching which was prompting the nasty attitude and shortness. Hopefully, their second child would be boy, Kami knew he couldn't deal with another Pan. "Being a girl dad is great, don't get me wrong Venus, but you girls turn into monsters once you hit puberty."
