Oliver tried not to drop the coffee cups and the bag of scones while navigating Shane's gate. He had a bounce in his step thinking about starting his day with Shane on a beautiful Saturday morning. They were supposed to eat breakfast together before heading over to an all-day kite festival at Washington Park. Dressed casually for Oliver in khaki's and a nice polo shirt, he walked up the path carefully juggling the food as he maneuvered the steps. He set the coffees and scones on the porch railing before knocking on the door. Noticing a leaf on the porch swing he dusted it off.

He heard the gate squeak as the FedEx delivery lady with bright blue and orange hair that had been next door was now walking up the path to Shane's. Huffing a little in irritation at FedEx having the audacity to encroach on his territory he knocked again on the door. Hearing Shane yelling, "I'm coming." Oliver took a step back.

Opening the door Shane took one look at Oliver and quickly shut the door again. "Oliver what are you doing here?" Shane wailed leaning her head on the closed door mortified. Still in her pajama's that consisted of a very loose long sleeve t-shirt that read "Hacking is fun" with miniscule shorts, Shane hadn't had a shower, had no makeup on and her bed hair had reached new heights of disorder.

Mystified Oliver replied raising his voice slightly to be heard through the door, "We discussed having breakfast together yesterday. You told me to come by early. Who did you think it was?"

"Oliver it's Saturday morning. Early is 10:00 not 8:00. I just rolled out of bed for my Jimmy's. I haven't even had a shower and I have no makeup on. Who on earth is normally even up at this hour?"

At this point the Fedex delivery lady was curious as to what was going on and sticking around for the entertainment leaned against the porch with a box in her hand. Getting frustrated at talking to Shane through a door, still miffed about FedEx, and now concerned about an interloper, Oliver asked haughtily, "Who may I ask is your Jimmy?"

"What not who." Shane replied.

"Excuse me?" Oliver said completely confused.

Laughing at the situation the FedEx lady finally decided he needed all the help he could get. "My guess is Jimmy Choo shoes." She said waving the box. "It's from an online discount designer shoe outlet." Raising her voice slightly, "Ma'am are you ok if I leave the box with the cute dude delivering breakfast."

"Yes please." Shane answered.

Handing the box to Oliver with a grin, "Good luck getting through the door until she's at least had a shower. I'd just chill on the porch swing until she's ready." Having given her advice, she jogged down the steps to return to her truck.

Holding the box in one hand Oliver leaned against the door. Now that it was just the two of them, "Shane you do look quite fetching in your pajamas." He politely didn't mention how much he adored her legs in what could barely be called shorts.

Rolling her eyes, "Thank you Oliver but you're still giving me 10 minutes."

Sighing Oliver sat on the swing drinking some of the coffee he brought. Fifteen minutes later having taken the fastest shower on record, Shane opened the door dressed in jeans and a sweater her wet hair braided to the side. She'd applied some mascara and lip gloss skipping the rest of her makeup.

Oliver grinned at her wryly patting the swing. Swiping the coffee cup off the railing on the way, she sat next to him on the swing.

"Thank you for bringing coffee." Shane said.

"I brought scones as well. May I ask why you thought I was a pair of shoes?" Oliver asked still grinning.

"The tracking text woke me up." Shane answered sipping the coffee while eyeing him. "It never occurred to me Mr. O'Toole might beat the shoes to my door."

"Next time I'll clarify what early means." Oliver said before turning serious. Trailing a finger down her porcelain cheek, "God made you beautiful even without makeup Shane."

"Oliver not only are you a cute dude you're a sweet one as well." Shane said cupping her hand against his face. "How about I heat up the scones while I make something to go with them."

"That sounds good. After all the drama this morning, I'm quite famished. I'll need sustenance to discuss your fraternization with FedEx." Picking up her package and the scones he followed her into the house. "Am I going to get to see the shoes?"

Shane laughed kissing him on the cheek, "Possibly."
