Secrets, Lies, and Everything Else Chapter 5: "First Day Of Yearbook Class"
I just watched the NY special yesterday, and in that one scene, did Marinette call Adrien 'baby'? Lol how did Adrien not notice that?!
xSapphirexRosesxFanx: Yes Adrienette is very cute UwU
TheyAlwaysUseADagger: Thank you C:
Miraculousfan: Glad you think so XD
Ms. Mendeleiev clapped her hands, "Okay children, listen up. We've got some very important science work to do today! Starting with, a 50 page multiple choice quiz!"
Everyone groaned, but Adrien especially wasn't feeling it. Dealing with the akuma attack last night was hard, and if he was Chat, he might have even described it as being very 'tuft.' (Get it? Tough-t? Because he's a cat, and cats have fur? A TUFT OF FUR! Ha! ...No? Ok.) Struggling to keep his eyes open, Adrien blinked wearily at the packets in front of him, everything a hazy blur. Maybe a small nap wouldn't hurt...
Marinette whispered, "Uh, Adrien, you're supposed to pass them out to everyone."
Adrien's eyes shot open, "Oh, sorry guys." He said, passing the test out to everyone. Out of the corner of his eye, Adrien could see Marinette yawning as well.
Looks like someone else didn't get a good night's sleep either. Adrien thought.
Sitting back down after passing out the exam papers, Adrien focused on his own paper, completing the questions and turning it in. Thankfully (for Marinette), the seating chart in Ms. Mendeleiev's class wasn't the same as Ms. Bustier's, so Marinette was actually able to focus on her work and turn it in on time.
The bell soon rang, signaling the end of Ms. Mendeleiev's class, and the start of another one.
(slight time skip)
"Um, excuse me, is this the yearbook room?" Adrien opened the door to a classroom, peeking inside.
A teacher was teaching math to her students, "No Johnny, you aren't supposed to do the problem like th-" Her eyes fell on Adrien.
"What are you doing here, disturbing my lesson?!" She scolded.
Adrien noticed everyone staring at him, "Uhhh, never mind, wrong room." He stiffly shut the door behind him. Trying to find the right class with little sucess, he finally decided to ask someone. He saw Marinette in the hallway chatting with Alya.
"Hey Marinette." Adrien greeted.
"H-hi." Marinette waved.
"Do you know where the yearbook classroom is? I think I'm lost." He rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed. Although, Marinette was probably ten times more embarrassed, but for a different reason.
"It's um it's-"
"I can take both of you there. That way you can walk with me. Together. As good friends." Alya smirked.
Marinette hung her head. There was no way she could refuse now that Alya had brought it up.
"Sure." Adrien agreed.
"Okay you two, just follow me." Alya lead them down the hall.

"..."
"So...the weather is really nice today..." Adrien said, a terrible attempt at making small talk.
"Yes...it's-it's...b-better than yesterday." Marinette stammered.
"Yeah..."
"..."
"..."
"So..."
"So..."
"I was gonna say...um..."
"You were going to say...?"
"..."
"..."
"There's...an...um...a..." Marinette started.
"A...?" Adrien prompted.
"A spider! On the wall! Next to you!" Marinette blurted out.
"I don't see anything..."
"It crawled away..."
"...oh..."
"..."
"Okay..."
"...Okay."
Alya arrived at the classroom just in time to spare her friends from more awkwardness, "Room 504, here we are!" She opened the door, revealing the inside of the classroom.
Rows of desks were lined up neatly. A large wooden rolling desk was towards the back of the class, stacks of small computers on it, as well as some larger computers and monitors. A cabinet was to the right of the classroom, housing a couple cameras and recorders. There was a large library with (or at least, one could assume) a vast variety of books coloring the shelves. One display were a few books on photography, propped neatly against the wall with small stands. There was a projector in the front of the class, along with a chair and desk for the teacher.
"Looks like everyone but the teacher came." Alya said, sitting down next to Marinette. Adrien found Nino, and sat down next to him.
Someone clapped their hands, entering the room, "Attention, students."
"Ms. Bustier?! But I thought she only taught main subjects." Marinette exclaimed.
"Woah, she's the yearbook teacher?! We're so lucky!" Alya grinned.
"Welcome class, to the Yearbook committee." She asked, "Alright, today we will be learning about what Yearbook is exactly, and what we will be doing in Yearbook. Would anyone like to share what you know."
"Duh, of course we know, it's, like, designing the Yearbook and whatnot." Someone sassed from behind Alya.
"We design the Yearbook, correct. Could someone elaborate on that?" Ms Bustier asked, wanting to start a class discussion.
"It's about designing the yearbook layout and how it looks." Luka said.
Ms. Bustier nodded.
Kagami raised her hand, "It's also about making sure that the information that goes into the Yearbook makes sense and is appropriate."
Marinette raised her hand, "It's about photographing stuff."
"It's about writing the things that go in the yearbook." Alix told her.
"It's about editing the stuff that people write to go into the yearbook." Kim responded.
"All of those answers are right! Since this is the first day of Yearbook, you don't have an assignment today, but I want you students to find out which of these sounds like the most fun for you. Even though you're all in yearbook, you don't have to do the same things. Each one of you can work on something different, like the layout, the writing, the photography, and the other activities that were mentioned."
The bell rang.
"I know what I'm going to do." Alya said, pretending to take a photo of Marinette with her hands.
"Photography? I was planning on doing the layout."
"What?! Why?! We can work together if you do the same thing as me."
"No way, you know how clumsy I am. I'd crack the camera screen or something. I'm just too clumsy; there's no way you'll get me to do photography."
"Hey Adrien! What are you going to do?" Alya asked. Marinette tried to yank her back, but it was already too late.
"I was thinking of photography for the yearbook. People take photos of me, so it'll be nice to take photos of other people for a change."
"You were saying?" Alya elbowed her.
"NevermindokI'lldophotographyhehehehehehe." Marinette said quickly, the words tumbling out of her mouth.
"Great. See you later, Marinette." Adrien waved goodbye.
"See ya." Marinette laughed giddily. She shook her head, snapping herself out of it, "This is awesome! I'm going to work together with ADRIEN!" Marinette smile faded away, "OH NO, I'M GOING TO WORK WITH ADRIEN. ALYA. HELP MEEEEEEEEE."
;.;.;.;.;.;. ❤️ KAGAMI ❤️ .;.;.;.;.;.;
(time skip)
Adrien and Kagami were walking home together in silence.
"Kagami..." Adrien spoke finally, "I apologize about the Yearbook. Marinettes's just really excited about this and-"
"It's fine." Kagami closed her eyes and rubbed her temples as if she had a headache.
Adrien eyed her sympathetically, "You don't sound like it's-"
Kagami burst out, "How do you expect me to be fine when you obviously don't love me anymore?!" She bristled with anger, "It's ALWAYS about someone else, never about me! You could at least tell me if you've moved on."
"What do you mean?!"
"I- you know what, just stop. I don't have the time to argue with you right now, I'm already late for my after school fencing practice." She lowered her voice, "But trust me Adrien, you have no idea what it's like, to be me. To have to try so hard to tolerate the fact that you obviously love someone else, that you're just bidding your time before breaking up with me."
"Trust me Kagami, I know what it's like." Adrien said, the image of Ladybug inside his mind seemed to haunt him, "And I never said I moved on."
"You didn't have to." Kagami turned to run away.
"Wait!"
Kagami turned back to look at him, "I just want you to be happy. You can tell me the truth."
Adrien's head was spinning, "No, I-"
"That's not an answer." She took off.
"WAIT!"
But this time, Kagami didn't look back.
