Okay. Second to last chapter. I'm betting you didn't expect the story to be this short.
Song of the Chapter: Lasiurus by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard
I own nothing but the story.
Batman woke up in a container with a clear door. He immediately threw his fist at it, but it didn't break.
"You'll only waste your time," said a familiar voice. Batman turned his head and saw the orange and black man.
"Who are you?" Batman asked.
"I go by Deathstroke," the man said walking closer to the container.
"What are you doing?"
Deathstroke turned and gestured at a machine Batman recognized as the chemical disperser. Red Hood was putting a liquid in there. He saw Batman.
"Oh! Batman!" he said, seeing him.
"What are you two doing working together?" Batman asked.
"He has skills that prove useful to my cause. To our cause."
Suddenly, a man walked in. "Alright, Deathstroke, Hood, what's going on in here?"
He saw Batman and his eyes widened. "You caught the Batman?"
Deathstroke nodded. "Batman, I would like to introduce you to our financial benefactor, Alfred Stryker."
"What's your progress, Wilson?" Stryker said. "He won't be pleased if you fail."
Deathstroke gestured to the machine. "It is almost finished. But, before, let's take care of the Bat."
Gas flew into the container, and Batman pulled out a batarang, hitting the glass with it, trying to break through.
He looked over and saw the Red Hood inserting a green chemical into the machine.
"The gas you're experiencing is made by the Red Hood," Deathstroke said. "He has a gift for making such concoctions."
"I'm flattered!" Red Hood said, walking over to a panel on the machine.
Batman continued trying to break the glass. He couldn't fail. If he did, the city would pay. A feeling that wasn't new to him flooded through his body. Fear.
"Tell me, Batman, before you die," Deathstroke said. "Why do you do what you do? Why do you spend your nights beating on thugs who are poisoning this city? This city that is far beyond saving?"
"That's why you're doing this?" Batman asked, letting air out finally. He quickly let it back in, trying not to inhale the fumes.
"Gotham has become a jungle, with animals that are savage and greedy. It must die."
Batman finally made a crack in the glass, and then slammed his foot against it, trying to kick through. Deathstroke laughed. Batman continued, watching as Red Hood was getting ready to launch the chemical.
Finally, he broke through the glass and his foot went further, kicking Deathstroke in the face. He ran at Red Hood, shooting his grappling gun at him and throwing him aside. He quickly grabbed the chemical and threw it into a vat of acid. He heard a gunshot and felt a sharp pain in the back of his leg. It was Stryker.
"Freeze!" he heard someone say. The police were here, and pointing their guns at them from above. He saw the Red Hood preparing his gun and ran at him, kicking the gun out of his hand, then punching him across his helmet, cracking it. The Red Hood lost his balance, and quickly grabbed onto Stryker before he could fall into the acid. Stryker tried getting him off, but he couldn't handle the weight and fell with the Red Hood into the acid.
He turned to face Deathstroke, but he was gone. The police noticed too, and the one named Jim from the other night said "Hands in the air, and take off the mask."
Batman put his hands in the air and towards his mask, but then shot the grappling hook, and let it pull him away.
He pressed a button, and then leapt out of the window, using his cape to glide to the ground. He heard them coming out to him, but just as they were in sight the Batmobile came in. He jumped into it, and drove off.
It was over. Deathstroke was still at large, but he figured that he wouldn't be showing his face anytime soon.
He almost wasn't sure about this Batman thing when he got the idea, but now he wouldn't have it any other way.
He was Batman. Now and forever.
Back at the building, the vat of acid boiled, bubbles coming up to the surface.
Suddenly, a hand flew up, splashing the liquid everywhere.
It grasped onto the edge of the acid. Instead of any normal color of skin, it was white.
Ooohhhhh.
I really enjoy hearing what people think of my stories, be it good or bad, so it'd be nice if you left a review.
