Secrets, Lies, and Everything Else Chapter 6: "Comforted"
YAS SCHOOL'S CANCELLED!
Well, heh, only for this week, but for a whole week, I don't have school to deal with, so expect (more) frequent updates! :)
~ Reviews ~
xSapphirexRosesxFanx: Yeah, Marinette just needs some time to kick back and relax... 😌
Ern Estine 13624: Thanks! The update has arrived!...one million years later XD
MiraculousUser: When Marinette was telling Adrien her seat number, she read "BB" as "baby" lol
TikkiCookieBean: Oof, when Adrien said "We're not a couple." I meant for him to be saying that about Marinette and himself, not him and Kagami. But yeah that was really confusing so I changed it to "Marinette and I are not a couple."
Sophie: Well you'll see how Adrien's gonna react in this chapter... ;) Oof I feel bad for them too ;w;
Guesy: To be honest, I actually don't mind Kagaminette/Marigami, but I like the love square better.
Enjoy! :3
The next day, after school...
Marinette groaned, looking at the calendar she had up on her locker, "We have a test tomorrow?!" She groaned.
Alya smirked, "Why do you complain about everything, girl? The test will go-"
"Terribly? Horribly?" Marinette asked.
"I was going to say smoothly, like it always does. You always score high on your exams. Quit worrying!"
"Oh."
"So, are these cameras cool or what?" Alya grinned, changing the subject. She took a camera out of her bag, "The stuff I record with this will look so much better than the stuff I record with my phone camera. Imagine all of the cool pics I could take for the Ladyblog!"
"Yeah, I guess." Marinette said, rummaging in her bag and taking out her matching black camera. Ms. Bustier had allowed everyone in the photography section of the yearbook committee to borrow one of the school's cameras. "This thing isn't going to last a single day. I'll break it before I can even use it!" Marinette frowned, "And you're still supposed to help me with Adrien!"
"I will!"
"I still don't know how I'm supposed to do anything with him around." She looked down, "Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all."
"It was a great idea!"
"Marinette!" Luka waved at her.
Marinette smiled, "Luka!" She hugged him, "You're not mad at me, are you?"
"What? No, you were just having a bad day." Luka hugged back.
Adrien, who happened to be passing by them, stopped to look at them sadly, then walked past.
Alya looked ofer her shoulder, spotting Adrien, "You two can go to the bakery together. I'll catch up."
"Hey." The raven-haired girl said, catching up go him.
Adrien pretended not to hear.
"Hey! I know you heard me!" Alya put her hand on her hips.
Adrien finally turned around. His eyes were bloodshot and his hair was messed up.
"Woah, what happened to you?"
"Why would you think something happened to me?" The blonde-haired boy asked.
"your eyes-"
"I probably just got something in my eyes. Just- just tell Marinette we can start working on photography some other day, not today. I-I need to go to fencing practice."
"That's a lie." Alya crossed her arms, "Mr. D'Argencourt called in sick today. Fencing practice should be cancelled.
"I must have forgotten. Oh would you look at the time, I have to go...the bus is waiting outside..."
"...you don't even take the bus."
Adrien let out a joyless laugh, "Silly me, I must have forgotten, my dad said he was going to pick me up today! Time to-"
Alya narrowed her eyes at him, "See here Sunshine Boy, you will tell me what's wrong right this instant, understand?!"
"Was it that obvious I was lying?" Adrien asked quietly.
Alya raised an eyebrow.
"Never mind, don't answer that. It's just that...Kagami...I feel like we're breaking apart from each other...like we're growing more and more distant."
"I thought you and Kagami were working out pretty well though." Alya motioned for Adrien to sit down next to her on a nearby bench. The whole school was practically empty now after hours.
"Yeah...until...I decided to work with Marinette...that was kinda the final straw for her."
Alya's eyes widened in realization. He'd decided to work with Marinette because of her. So technically, it would have been her fault if they broke up.
Which in retrospect, Alya actually wouldn't have minded. That just meant more opportunities for Marinette...but she'd never exactly thought of what that meant for Adrien. She'd never exactly thought how he'd feel.
Alya's heart pounded inside of her, "I've gotta go." She rushed outside, immediately dialing Nino's number. When he didn't answer, Alya texted him.
Alya: we need 2 talk
Nino: about wut?
Alya: Adrien
Nino: Wdym?
Alya: I think I made everything like 10 times worse ngl...apparently him and Kagami aren't getting along so well.
Nino: wut does that have to do with u?
Alya: Bc I was the 1 that basically caused it
Nino: U DID WUT?
Alya winced at his response, pausing before typing another message. She clicked "send."
Alya: well more like we did actually
Nino: wutttttt
Alya: ill explain later
She put her phone back inside her backpack, "Marinette was right. This idea really was terrible!"
How am I supposed to fix this? I can't tell Adrien that I used him! He would never talk to me again! Alya thought worriedly, What have I done?
;.;.;.;.;.;. ❤️ ADRIEN ❤️ .;.;.;.;.;.;
"Bye Al." Adrien mumbled.
Plagg flew out of his pocket suddenly. He stretched, yawning, "See, this is why I like cheese so much- you don't have to deal with it breaking up with you."
Adrien crossed his arms, "Kagami did not break up with me. Or...she didn't say she broke up with me..."
"Why don't you just tell her how you feel towards Ladybug? She just wants you to be happy."
"But- I feel like that would hurt Kagami. And...I already hurt her enough." Adrien rubbed his temple, "Everything is just so complicated!"
"Mhhhm. Yes. Hold that thought." Plagg was reading a copy of The Gentlemen's Cheese he had found somewhere.
"Are you even listening to me?!"
"Woooooow did you know that there are like around two thousand different types of cheese-"
Adrien took the magazine from his kwami and ripped it into two pieces.
"Hey! I was reading that." Plagg looked up to see his owner eyeing him expectantly.
"What I mean is, Kagami will get over it, you'll be just as disgustingly close as you were before." He stuck his tongue out. Gross. Romance. Ew.
"I hope...because she's been ignoring me all day."
"It's just part of the process, blah, blah, blah, inspiring word, 'nother inspiring word, blah, blah, blah." Plagg shoved a slice of camembert in his mouth.
Adrien blinked.
"Maybe you should do something to cheer yourself up. I saw that Marinette girl outside with the blue-haired guy."
"...his name is Luka."
"Luka. Whatever. Him. Anyways, you should hang out with them."
"You're right." Adrien took a moment to compose himself then headed out.
;.;.;.;.;.;. ❤️ MARINETTE ❤️ .;.;.;.;.;.;
Marinette laughed as Luka continued:
"...and then she found out that her headband was in her pocket the whole time!"
"Seriously? So she just spent three houes looking for it, and it was with her the whole time."
"Yup."
"Wow. Sounds like something I would do." Marinette half-snorted half-laughed.
"Nah."
She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear shyly. Luka was nice, but...she honestly didn't feel the same way towards him as she did towards Adrien.
Speaking of Adrien...
"MARINETTE!" Adrien panted.
Marinette almost screamed, "Adrien?!" She reddened with both embarrassment and anger. Had he been here the whole time?! Had he seen them messing around?! What if he hated her?! What if-
"Can I walk together with you guys?"
"Together- us- uh- w-w-w-well...I was kinda walking with Luka-"
"It's fine, Adrien can join us."
"Yeah...thanks..." Adrien said awkwardly. It kinda felt like he was intruding. He stood beside Marinette, who was now a beet red color.
"So...what so you think we should so for yearbook? I mean, like, what should we take pictures of?"
"YOU- er- people- er- stuff-" Marinette said, fiddling with her thumbs nervously, "Come on Luka let's-"
Luka gave her a look, "It's either now or never."
"I choose never!" Marinette squeaked.
"Marinette has something she would like to say-" Luka was interrupted by the sound of Adrien's ringtone.
Adrien's picked up his phone, "Hello...? Yes. Okay."
Marinette allowed herself to breathe.
"Thanks. Bye." Adrien ended the call, "You were saying?"
"Uhhhhh...I was saying...I forgot what I was saying...yeah...that...I was gonna say that..."
"Hey, what happened to Kagami? Wouldn't you usually be going home with her?"
Adrien hesitated, wondering if he should tell them the truth or not.
Are you nuts, Adrien? They'll think you're an idiot! He mentally scolded himself before saying, "Kagami wasn't feeling it today." Okay, that actually wasn't entirely a lie, but not really the truth either.
It was good enough. It would have to do.
Adrien could feel something inside him snap as Luka put an arm around Marinette's shoulder.
He didn't know what it was.
But he knew what it couldn't be.
That wasn't jealousy.
no.
No.
NO.
He had nothing to be jealous of. It wasn't like he liked Mari. Of course he liked her...but not in that way.
After all, she was just a very good friend.
That's all.
Still, even with Luka there, Adrien felt strangely comforted by Mari.
...Maybe everything was going to be okay after all.
Ok wow a lot of things happened in this chapter
Nice 1,700 plus words...that's more than what I usually write. Guess I just really felt like writing today. xd
Also I'm having way too much fun with fonts :I
Bye! =^u^=
