Chapter 6
KATHERINE
After the encounter with Gemma, Tara and I had a good laugh.
"Went better than expected." Tara said while we drove to my place.
"I think so too, maybe she's just trying to actually do the right thing."
"I hope so."
We pulled up and and headed inside. I had managed to pack mostly everything up in boxes rather quickly. It was a couple of hours later when we heard the rumble of harleys approaching. Tara looked outside and smiled.
"Come on let's go meet the guys." She grabbed Katherines hand and we made their way to them.
Katherine was sweating like crazy and had thrown her long dark locks up in a pony tail. She decided to put a tank top back on over her pink sports bra. The guys all looked rugged but from what Tara had told her about them she knew they were all actually sweet.
Katherine could see each of them look her over from her head to her feet. She could admit that they each possessed a sex appeal but she wasn't going to pursue anything right now. She was just enjoying life with Abel and Tara.
She had been introduced to them all: Opie, Chibs, Kozik, Half Sac (Kip), and Bobby. They had two other men as well that they called prospects: Phil and Ratboy.
After the introductions they headed inside. It had taken less than thirty minutes for them to take everything down to the van. They headed for Taras home and brought things where they needed to go. While they had the muscle there Katherine asked if they could move things around and some to the basement.
She and Tara had talked about redoing the house in terms of style and decor. Katherine was so excited. She lived for decorating.
The guys were all funny. They each took turns flirting with her but Katherine gave it back as good as she could. Once they had completed their duty the guys all hung out for a bit before returning to the club house. Katherine could tell that Tara was happy the day went well.
"What's that look for?" She asked the doctor.
"I just can't wait to see what they tell Jax. I'm sure they're gonna have a field day with him." She laughed lightly.
"Speaking of Jax... we haven't talked much about him."
"I know. I'm supposed to go see him soon. Work has just been crazy. Gemma went a few times. We talked on the phone yesterday and it was fine, I kept it light."
Katherine could tell Tara was holding back. She decided to push her friend just a little bit.
"Look Tara, I'm happy to be here with you. But you need to talk to him about this. I know it's a long ways away but it'll be here before we know it. He needs to know I'm living here and we need to be prepared for him to not be okay that."
Tara pulled her into a hug and Katherine held her tightly. They both stayed that way for a few minutes. It was insane how close they were in such a short time but they couldn't deny that it was just so easy.
Katherine was thankful that she had met Tara and was happy with the way things were going. She just hoped that Tara and Jax were okay with this.

TARA
The drive up to Stockton was not something Tara enjoyed. She had just entered the part of her pregnancy where she peed non stop and the little bump was visible in her tighter shirts. Today she opted for a loose fitting top and some leggings. She had to pee constantly and really wished the prison was closer.
She was nervous about this visit with Jax. She hadn't seen him in over two months and a lot had changed since then. It sounded crazy even in her own head but it was true.
Tara felt more alive these past couple of weeks than she had in a long time. She felt like she had found a solid balance between her career and a personal life of sorts. She and Katherine worked fluidly together and it was as if they had known each other their whole lives.
Tara was able to enjoy the benefits of being a doctor in terms of being able to shop and go to lunch as she wanted. She had time for things. She had time for herself. It was a great feeling.
The part that was weighing on her was explaining all of this to Jax in the right way. She didn't want him to think she wasn't happy before but she knew she couldn't go back to how things were. She wanted to be selfish and ask that they find a way to work together with Katherine involved in her life.
As she waited in the visitation room her butterflies started. That always happened with Jax. Even back when they were teens. She looked up to see the blonde man that stole her heart when she was a kid. He had shaved his head and she couldn't believe how much better looking he seemed to be. She stood as he approached and they were allowed a quick hug.
"Hi darlin." His voice brought tears to her eyes.
"Stupid hormones." She chuckled as they pulled apart.
The two sat down and she just looked at him.
"I've missed you so much." She said while reaching for his hand.
"I've missed you way more." He smirked.
"I'm sure you have. Can't be easy rubbing one out in here." She jested back.
He laughed out loud at that and she had to join him.
The two discussed Abel and her pregnancy, she even showed him the updated scan photo.
"It's totally a boy." He said while looking at the black and white picture.
"We'll know for sure when I deliver."
"So... the guys tell me you have very good taste in nannies." He smirked his signature smirk.
She rolled her eyes. "I knew they'd tell you all about her."
"You know what they told me but I wanna know more from you."
"Her name is Katherine. We met when I literally bumped into her at the coffee shop. She was a teacher at the elementary school but didn't have anything set up for next year yet. I just blurted out that Abel needed a nanny and we just took off."
"That's good babe."
"Yeah. She's kind of my bestfriend and I'm really happy. Like really happy Jax. She's made my life so much easier and smoother. You'd love her too. We just mesh really well together and you have to see her with Abel. It's amazing. And her cooking! Unreal!"
He laughed at her enthusiasm. She could tell he wanted to make a comment but refrained. She kept going.
"You're going to have to meet her. She's staying with me and the kids, helping me out and stuff."
"Listen, if you want me to meet her then I will. Maybe you can bring her and little man up for a visit in a couple weeks."
She nodded her head. She let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding and physically relaxed.
The time flew by and before she knew it they were saying to wrap it up.
"I promise to bring them up soon. I'll talk to you whenever you can call. I love you." She gave him a quick peck when the guard turned around.
She headed for her car and had a smile on her face the entire drive home. She decided to stop at the store for some ice cream she had been craving.
