Chapter 7
JAX
After visiting with Tara I was escorted back to my cell. The visit was exactly what I needed.
I replayed everything over in my head but just couldn't get the genuine look of happiness Tara had on her face out if my mind. She looked amazing and was glowing the way she should have been all along.
He sat on his bed and laid down. He had to admit to himself that he had a feeling his old lady was in some uncharted territory. She never had many friends and he was happy she had someone to navigate all of this with.
However perhaps it was his prison mind or his labido but he could have sworn Tara had a little crush on her new friend.
From what the guys told him about Katherine she had every reason to as well. The guys couldn't get over her and he could t believe how the universe worked.
Not only was he away from his old lady and kids but he also had to sit here for hours on end knowing that Tara was playing house with a sex vixen.
He had two weeks before he'd meet the infamous Katherine and see his son. He couldn't wait.

Katherine
It had been a week since Taras visit with Jax and she could see a difference in her. She seems lighter and happier even more so than before. Everything was going great at the house and the two women were transforming the space into a home.
Well, Tara was giving Katherine the credit card and she was doing the work. But that wasn't important.
Gone were the colored walls and instead Katherine had painted everything white. She ripped up the carpet in the living room and entry way and laid down the snap in floor that looked like dark hard wood. The kitchen got a facelift as well. She had painted the cabinets white and used peel and stick tile to fix up the floors.
Her and Abel had just gone to target that morning and she was putting some finishing touches on the space. She had gotten a new coffee table, area rug, shelves, dishes and trinkets. Now the rooms looked as if they flowed together and everything was neat and clean.
After unrolling the new rug and building the coffee table she heard Abel stirring from his nap. She headed into his room which she had also redecorated. His room was now white with a few accent pieces on the walls, he had a new rug and some beautiful baskets for his toys and books. The rooms were all minimal and simple in a gorgeous way.
She picked him up and they made their way into the kitchen. Tara was due to be home in a few hours and Abel was spending a night with Gemma. The grandmother was eager to have a night with him.
Katherine knew Gemma was missing her husband far more than she wanted anyone to see. For some reason she had begun to grow close to Mrs. Morrow and the older woman had confided in her. She packed Abels bag and got him ready.
At exactly 4:30 there was a knock on the door and Gemma made her way inside.
"I love what you did to the place sweetheart." She said as she looked around at the almost finished spaces.
"Thank you! I'm obsessed with all of it." She beemed. "Little man likes it too, huh?"
Abel clapped his hands and giggled. Katherine handed the little boy over and Gemma bid her farewell.
She decided that she'd make Tara vegetable scampi and chocolate chip cookies. Yesterday Tara had mentioned cravings and Katherine started trying to deliver on them.
After picking up the house and folding the last of the laundry she looked at the clock. It was 6:30 and Tara was supposed to be home a short while ago. After another fifteen minutes she grew worried and decided to text her.
After another fifteen minutes she tried calling and it went to voicemail. Just as Katherine was about to jump in the suv she saw Taras car speed into the driveway. By the way she was driving Katherine knew she was angry about something.
Katherine headed inside and allowed her a few minutes to herself. Tara came in and gave her a look that said she needed a hug. Katherine walked over to her and the two hugged tightly. She could feel Tara tremor.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" She asked.
"I'm gonna shower first and then we can eat. I'll tell you after I process it first."
Tara headed down the hallway and into the master bedroom. After about twenty minutes Katherine heard her coming back down the hall. She wore leggings and a loose shirt. Katherine and her started sharing some clothes since they tended to like similar lounge wear. Their everyday styles were total opposite. Tara liked jeans a T-shirts' but Katherine preferred dresses, skirts, jumpers, all the cutesy girly outfits.
They ate in comfortable silence and when they were finished Katherine cleaned up. It was already after 8 and she decided to sit out back. She put her hand out for Tara and they headed to the backyard. They had purchased some more patio furniture including an awesome outdoor sofa that was so comfortable you could easily sleep on it.
"What's going on T?"
The two snuggled close together and just watched the night sky get darker and darker. The only light coming from a small candle Katherine had lit on the small coffee table.
"I'm just so frustrated. Today I saw Ima and it just put me in a bad mood. Then I started thinking about Jax and how our relationship is going and I don't know..."
Katherine held her hand and gave it a squeeze. Urging her to continue when she was ready.
"I'm just. Confused I guess. I'm so happy with my life right now but I know things will change when Jax comes home. I'm afraid of losing this." She pointed to each of them.
"I'm not going anywhere. And if Jax comes home and doesn't want me living here that doesn't mean we won't be friends T... it's.."
"We aren't normal friends though." Tara said softly.
Katherine stopped talking. She knew she was right, they weren't your typical "friends". They seemed to be more than that, it was confusing and Katherine never wanted to act on any of those questions or feelings.
"No I guess we aren't." She agreed.
After a few moments she felt a feather light touch on her cheek. Her face was turned to look directly at Taras. With bated breath she waited, and waited, and waited.
