Chapter 9

JAX

It had been almost two weeks since Taras visit. She had talked to him and told him she had to postpone to today due to a surgery being scheduled last weekend. He was fine with it, he knew she was busy and was doing her best to balance everything she needed to.

He could tell she was happy, even happier than she was when he saw her last. She sounded like a new person and he smiled at the thought. Today he was seeing Abel and meeting Katherine, the guys have continued to tell everyone about the hot little number that was currently playing house with his old lady.

Last week Opie had come down and said that Kozik and Kip were about to dual to the death for her hand. His mother had simply smirked when he saw her and inquired about the new woman in his sons life.

She insisted that Abel had hit the jackpot and that he'd meet her soon enough. Jax was eager to meet her, not only to see if everyone had been yanking his chain but also to see the first woman his mother actually liked on sight. Gemma had explained that Katherine was helping mend her relationship with Tara.

As he walked down the corridor to the visitation area he stopped at the site in front of him. There was Tara looking absolutely gorgeous and her belly had grown in size, she was glowing with her pregnancy and was sitting at a table waiting for him.

He searched the area for his son and his eyes then went to Abel who had gotten so big and was nestled comfortably in the arms of a gorgeous brunette standing by the vending machine.

Her hair was curled and went down to the small of her back, she was thin but had a perfect chest and an ass you'd flip a nickel off of. It wasn't only the appearance of both ladies that had his blood running south. It was also the images he had created in his head for entertainment in his cell.

He snapped out of it and turned on his charm without even realizing he was doing so. He made his way to Tara and she beamed at him. She wrapped him tightly in a quick hug and Jax caught a scent of strawberries in her hair. "Hi darlin. I missed you." He cupped her cheeks and smiled down at her.

"I missed you too. I'm sorry about last weekend it just got super busy."

"No worries at all, I'm just happy you're all here."

"I'm so excited for you to meet her!" She whispered excitedly.

Jax couldn't help but chuckle at her giddiness. Just as he was about to respond an excited babble came out of his son. Both of them looked toward Abel.

"Look Abel it's daddy!" Katherine spoke to the baby. Her voice was soft and it did something to Jax. He knew it was because he'd been locked up for months but damn.

"We haven't officially met. I'm Katherine."

Her golden orbs locked with his blue ones and he reached out to shake her hand. Her hand was soft and delicate and looked even smaller than Taras did in his hand.

"Jax. Jax Teller." He smirked.

He reached for the little boy in her arms and Abel willingly went to him. He had looked between him and the two women at first and was unsure but settled down quickly into Jax's chest.

He made a move to sit at the small table and was engrossed with his son. Tara had taken a seat across from him and Katherine sat beside her. They fell into comfortable conversation and Jax could tell why Tara was so infatuated with her new friend. He could tell the two women were close.

He had never seen Tara so care free and happy. It brought joy to his soul and he wanted this to last. Abel had gotten fussy and needed to be changed. Tara needed to use the bathroom which left him alone with Katherine.

"So how are you doing really?" She asked once Tara was gone.

He found himself immediately responding as if he had known the young woman all his life. "Honestly i have good and bad days. I'm pissed that I'm missing so much but I know it needed to happen."

"She's been happy, she loves you you know. More than you'll ever understand."

Without realizing it he had reached out and squeezed her hand.

"She's happier than I've ever seen her. Thank you." His blue eyes locked with hers. He could see a slight pinking to her cheeks and she smiled at him. She nodded her head.

"She says works gonna be getting busier now..., I could bring Abel a bit more if you'd like. She's been pushing me to do so and not so subtly I may add."

He laughed. "I'd like that." When he realized he was still holding her hand he let it go.

It unsettled him that as soon as he did so he wanted it back in his own.

"Hope you two are getting along." Tara said cheerfully when she came back to the table moments later. She at in her spot and he didn't miss Katherines hand going to Taras thigh and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"Nah, Katherine was just telling me she'd bring Abel up a bit more since you're getting pretty busy."

Taras eyes lit up with something he couldn't quite place. "That would be great! It would make me really happy."

Both myself and Katherine nodded at that and smiled.

The visit continued and by the time it was over Jax couldn't accurately describe what he was feeling.

Tara was in the best mood he'd ever seen her, Abel was taken care of and growing so fast, Katherine was a flame he felt drawn too, and there was something he was missing. He knew it. However, he decided to simply accept that maybe things were just going really well for everyone for once.

They all said their goodbyes and Katherine had told him she'd see him next week. He couldn't wait. And he didn't miss the little wink Tara sent his way as he was escorted out of the visitation area.
