Blinders Off
Chapter 4
Find myself at you're all those other times before.
Brooke felt her heart leap as she saw Lucas enter her hospital room. She had just given birth and he hadn't wanted to leave her side. But when their son was born he wasn't crying.
Brooke practically pushed him out of the delivery room. Pleading with him to go be with their son and make sure he was okay. That she would be fine.
Here she was recovering from labor. As exhausting and emotionally mentally life changing the experience was. All she cared about was being with her son. Properly meeting him.
Her and Lucas hadn't gotten the chance to even hold him.
Lucas took a deep breath and walked over to the bed that Brook was laying in. He sat down as close to her as he could.
"What's going on Luke.?" Brooke asked. Looking to her husband.
Lucas took ahold of her hands in his.
"He's gone Brooke. Our son died." Lucas revealed.
"No! Stop It! Don't do this to me! Let me see him Lucas!"
"You're lying! He's alive! They took him away too help him."
"I want to see him and hold him Lucas please!" Brooke screamed.
"I held him. I saw him. He had blond hair. You're dimples." Lucas stated. Unshed tears wellimg up in his eyes.
"No! My baby! My little boy!" Brooke cried.
Not being able to hold it off any longer. Lucas asked for a nurse to bring in their son.
Brooke got what she wanted to be able to hold him. But the infant's eyes were closed. His body was still.
He was wrapped in a blanket with a tiny hat on his head.
The couple took only a handful of photos with them and their son.
They were given a death certificate. They put down their names then came up with the name Mark Eugene Scott.
Brooke was taken out of her own thoughts when the echo of knocks on the front door of her home.
She took a breath and left the bedroom. Made her way through the hallway and down the stairs. She unlocked the door and opened it slowly.
"I don't want to you to be alone tonight." Lucas said.
"You're reading my mind. I was just going to reach out to you. Come in." Brooke replied.
