Blinders Off

Chapter 8

When you feel my heat, look into my eyes

It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide

Don't get too close, it's dark inside

It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide.

Weeks Later

Life went back to normal. As it always did. Brooke was focused on her clothing store. While Lucas was putting all his time and energy into thinking up ideas for his next novel.

But unlike the other two best sellers. He was blocked. Any idea or concept he came up with wasn't strong enough.

He threw his laptop on one of the two chairs seated in his office.

"Clearly nothing has changed since we met last. I thought meeting with you're writing team and taking some time off work would help you with the creative process. I'm doing all i can on my end Lucas. But i'm going to need you to give me a rough draft of you're writing for this new book deal. Or they are going to drop you. I suggest you take some more time away. Maybe take a trip.?" Lindsay suggested.

"I'll have something for you. In the next few days. I know i keep saying that but i mean this time." Lucas replied.

Lindsay nodded her head in agreement and left his office.

Lucas grabbed ahold of his laptop. And started to write.

Brooke just showed up at my house. Seated on my steps.

Her face was freshly washed. And the light in her eyes had returned.

"She wants to give us her baby!" Brooke exclaimed.

I looked back at her wide eyed.

Extending my hand to hers. She took it. As we went into my home together.

Lucas sighed deeply. Blending his real life with fiction was always something that made him uncomfortable. But in this case it was his reality and he couldn't get the latest encounter with Brooke off his mind.

After getting her settled in the living room. I focused my gaze on hers.

"I need you to explain this to me. Step by step. Who wants to give us a baby.?" Lucas asked.

Brooke took a deep breath and stared back at me.

"A teenage girl in Haley's class. Her name is Sam. Sam Walker. She's 15. Pregnant with twin boys that she has told Haley she doesn't want to keep."

"She ran across our adoption profile. When she met with an agency. She's just a kid. She isn't ready to be a mom. And wants her hers to have the best life possible." Brooke explained.

Lucas took a deep breath. Letting this information process in his mind.

Which is what lead the two here. A simple relaxed lunch at Karen's cafe.

"So Brooke's told me some information about you. But i need more. Why exactly do you want us to parent you're children.?" Lucas asked.

"I read through more profiles then i can remember and i saw plenty of couples i could of chosen. But once i got to The Scotts. I felt a connection. Once i got done reading you're profile getting an honest look at what the two of you had gone through. How badly the two of you wanted to be parents. I knew my sons would be you're world."

"That is everything i never had. I want that for them. Parents who will put them first. Give them a real family." Sam proclaimed.

Lucas then focused his gaze on Brooke.

"You didn't tell her did you.?" Lucas asked.

Brooke sighed deeply. Looking back at him.

"I was planning too. It just hadn't come up." She replied.

The teenager looked from one to the other.

"What am i missing.?" Sam questioned.

"We're divorced. That profile may represent our past. In that aspect. You were right. We want to be parents. These babies would be everything to us. I can guarantee you that." Brooke revealed.

Sam thought over this new information then looked to the pair.

"The two of you are close very much apart of each other's lives."

"I grew up in the system. I was 4 when i was left at child services building by my mother. I don't expect perfection from either of you. You have my contact info. Talk it over. If you both want to do this. I'm in." Sam stated. Getting up from the seat and gently grabbing ahold of her backpack. As she left the cafe.
