Blinders Off
Chapter 12
"It's the good girls who keep diaries. The bad girls never have the time. Me...I just wanna live a life I'm gonna remember. Even if I don't write it down."
Damn it. Brooke knew just where hit him in yerms of emotional baggage. Betwee her parents and Dan. We both knew first hand what it meant to be lacking in love and support from the people who were supposed to give it freely and without condition.
Instead of loving embraces and heartfelt family memories. We get disregarded and pushed aside. As if we never existed.
"Look i'm not made of stone i have sympathy for her. I wish the cirmcumstances surrounding her situation were different but it's not and you allowing that girl to live here. Makes you apart of her messy drama filled life. That is the last thing you need." Lucas stated.
"I am fully aware of that. It's worth the risk to me. I never imagined me being a mom was going to happen. I thought given everything we endured it just wasn't meant to be. Sam found her way to us for a reason. She's a blessing. Those babies growing inside her is the chance we've been waiting for."
"I won't allow anything or anyone to ruin this. She's in my house. I know how to shoot a gun if needed. You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself." Brooke stated.
"Of course i'm going to worry about you. I love you. I know how you are. You have a weakness for children. Especially since you see yourself in Sam. You aren't going to just take the babies and move on. You will make sure she's okay. Regardless of what that means for you.I'm in this with you all the way." Lucas said.
"I'm overjoyed to hear you say that. It means so much to know i can count on you. That we are really going to build this family together. I love you too. Now i made an appointment for Sam at my doctor. We need to know how far along she is. Are the babies healthy. It's early morning 7 or 8 am. You are welcome to join us. I'll text you all the info." Brooke proclaimed.
Hours Later
In the morning
"Sam breakfast is ready!" Brooke called out from the bottom of the staircase.
Sam soon emerged minutes later. "That bed is so comfortable. It's like sleeping on a cloud. The room is amazing. I have space. My own closet. That's more then enough. I mean normally i get alot less then that and i'm expected to make my existance mean something beforehand."
"This looks delicious." Sam said. Carefully making her way down the stairs and into the kitchen. Sitting at the first seeat surrounded by many.
"It's nothing at all. You aren't expected to do anything but go to school and take care of yourself. Be a normal teenager. Have some fun once all this is over."
"I made pancakes and waffles i wasn't sure what you liked. After you're appointment this morning. I thought maybe we could go shopping for a new wardrobe. School supplies. Get our nails done. What do you think.?" 'Brooke suggested.
"I don't know what to say. I've never had someone be so kind to me. Thank you Brooke." Sam replied.
Brooke smiled warmly at her. "You're welcome." She said.
Later on that day
OBGYN Office
"You are exactly 20 weeks along. Which is to be exact 5 months into you're pregnancy. I'm going to need you to gain weight. 1 pound a week. By the time i see you again." The doctor informed Sam.
Sam's eyes went wide. "Alright. Anything else.?" She asked.
"Figure out where you're going to have the babies.? Learn about Braxton Hicks contractions. What they are. It will help better prepare you for when you start experiencing them." The doctor instructed.
"Look at our boys Lucas. They are growing big and strong." Brooke gushed.
Lucas couldn't keep his eyes off the babies or Brooke.
He was beginning to feel it already. That love and protectiveness a parent felt for their child. Times two.
"You are making our dreams come true. We will never be able to thank you for that." Brooke said. The emotion in her voice thick.
