The Heiress Black—Chapter 6

I am a lazy bum and awful person who has forgotten to mention thanks for all reviews, favorites and follows. Hey— I at least remembered this time thanks to the awesomely wonderful guest Nat who posted Hana's last name. For those predicting Dumbledore's death, as the incredible River Song would say, "Spoilers!" But the downfall of the goat is more intriguing to write than his death... as they say, No One does Revenge like A Black. (Pretty sure that came from the amazing Umei no Mai and her wonderful epic, Black Sky, starring a female Harry **with a name that isn't a flower or start with an H!**
I have not posted any years, but I am leaning towards setting this in the 20teens, as technology and fashion will be used and 90's grunge was a style gladly left in the past.
The next chapter should be posted by the end of the month.
After Tsuna escorted Jade to a nearby lounge, Regulus proved he had the Black Rage the family was known for. Within seconds of opening his daughter's medical file, he was sickened by the incredibly long list of injuries she had suffered from birth. Skipping to the earliest Medical Report, he was grateful his daughter would not be there and witness his reaction and that of the others present. While Xanxus reached for the other folders Jade left behind, he was unable to read past the label of vengeance before Mt. Mammon erupted and turned to see what had caused him to lose his composure.

Regulus had not even reached the attached list of charms and potions placed on his daughter before he could no longer hold in his anger. The sheer number of blocks on her core could have crippled what magic was available if his cousins had not tracked her down before her ninth birthday. Trying to keep some hold on his temper, Regulus kept reminding himself that she was there, that the blocks were removed, she was not in the old goat's hands.
Reading his own copy was Reborn. Having a soft spot for children he no longer pretended to hide, Reborn raged at what treatment the Cloud had suffered. The massive list of healed injuries was one of the longest he had ever seen... only Skull had a longer report than her. The amount of times the bones in the girl's hands had been broken was horrific; her arms had been fractured multiple times, dozens of scars scattered throughout her body. He scowled at the number of memory charms listed, his friend's daughter could have gone catatonic due to the quantity performed.
Xanxus reached the list of potions in Jade's system at the age of six and wanted to hurl. Slow-acting loyalty potions targeted towards those he assumed were Dumbledore's pawns was one thing, but his horror was a result of the love potion already present at such a young age. If left undiscovered, Jade may never have been able to love anyone.
For Jade to be able to rebel against her "relatives" at such a young age proved how stubborn she was. To act against those whom she was directed to obey was thought near impossible, her magic was actively fighting against the blocks and potions even as they were placed.
Xanxus made it through seven health reports before he stormed out of the room. His flames had already decided that the Cloud was his, and needed his protection. Stomping down the hall, he tracked her to a small lounge, relaxing as he heard a soft laugh. Reclining in one of the chairs, Jade had six different communication mirrors floating around her as she updated her friends. Realizing the majority of the people visible in the mirrors were male, he scowled, wanting Jade to himself.
"Well, if you insist on that Marcus I can't argue. Just prepare a suite for Marcy and her sister. If she does not arrive by the end of the week, make sure someone fetches them. Feel free to ask Lord Slytherin for a few of his inner circle... he has a strong hatred for those who abuse children."
Marcus gave a bitter laugh. "I know Jade, he is the one who rescued my sisters from their hell before his downfall. He and my father kept that man," practically spitting out the word, "alive for six months in the dungeons due to what he did to them."
"But you are safe there right Jade?" A worried voice cut across the violent talk. "I couldn't protect you from my parents. I need my little sister safe, especially since she is so far away."
Giving a brilliant smile, Jade lit up the room. "Yeah Lee, I am safe. For the first time ever I feel like no one can hurt me. Father is down the hall with his co-workers and I am fairly certain everyone needs an alibi for the next few days. The VARIA Boss, his name is Xanxus, and Blaise he looks like your older half-brother, I thought he was going to explode when he read how many love potions I was administered. The parchment was smoking at the edges at least."
"He really looks like Nicholas? I wonder if he could be his twin brother, he did go missing at age three. If not, I sure do have a lot of cousins. Maybe he is one of them?" Blaise said, looking thoughtful. "Ask him if he will do an inheritance test; if he has any relation he is welcome in the Family."
"I will," Jade replied. "Now, do I have to reassure anyone else of my safety?" With no one answering, she gave a grin. "Good. I want to spend time with my father. Twins, I heard you did a magnificent job at the Platform. I'll be sending you the Book of Booms by the Marauders as a thank you. Nev, give Aunt Alice my love, Draco, I'll speak to your mother tomorrow."
From the door Xanxus watched as the mirrors went blank, until one remained. He frowned as the male spoke, hating how soft his voice was.
"You are safe, right darling? I worry about you being so far without any of us there."
"I promise I am safe Marcus. Besides, you plan to be at the Italy house tomorrow; plus you personally trained me for four years. I can take care of myself, relax."
"Use your portkey if you get uncomfortable. My sisters would kill me if anything happened to you."
"Alright Marcus. Relax. Tone down the protective brother vibe. I will be careful. Talk to you in a couple of days."
Xanxus relaxed hearing Jade call this Marcus a brother. He felt possessive over this girl he barely knew, yet wanted to know more about her.
