Six years later

"Today is the day," Jennifer thought as she walks around the dining room that has colorful balloons, decorations, a cooler, and a white table cover over the table. On top of the table are plastic cups and plates, and a silver cake cover in the middle.

Today is Ruby's thirteenth birthday. Jennifer has planned the party for over a week by inventing Ruby's friends, getting the birthday cake, pizza, and Ruby presents. Jennifer has got a special gift for Ruby, who has been trying to find out her mom's present. Jennifer's appearance changes slightly with letting her hair grow out and wearing more detective clothes for her job. Speaking of her career, she managed to become a Sergeant for the police station she worked with and made a name for herself in parts of Vale.

As for Ruby, she has been going to Pharos Academy and doing quite well at school, seemingly gifted at making weapons that impress her classmates, teachers, and mom. Jennifer gives Ruby advice and combat training. Ruby also has picked up Jennifer's sarcastic wit in much dismay of other people. Otherwise, Ruby and Jennifer have been a happy family, just the two of them.

Ruby walks into the dining room to see what's going on, and she gets excited as she sees the birthday decorations.

"Wow, mom, this looks amazing," said Ruby

"It's all for you, kiddo," said Jennifer

"So when is the party going to start?"

"In two hours,"

"Cool, so…"

"No, you are not going to open your present now, Ruby. You have to wait,"

"Can I guess?"

"Sure,"

"Um, a flame thrower,"

"What? God no, why would I give you flame thrower,"

"Mom kidding. I don't want a flame thrower,"

Jennifer chuckles a bit, "you had me there, Ruby, now go get prepared for the party."

"Alright, mom,"

Two hours later, Ruby's birthday party started with a bang as the kids in the party were either eating pizza or playing party games. At the same time, some of the parents and Jennifer try to control the party's chaos. Ruby meets up with two best friends Coco and Velvet, who are drinking soda in front of the cooler.

"Hey guys, how the party?" said Ruby

"It's going great, Ruby," said Velvet

"Yeah, your mom threw a great party," said Coco taking a sip of Root beer

"So what did your mom give you, Ruby?"

"I have no idea she has been keeping a secret," said Ruby

"Maybe it's jewelry?" said Coco

"Nah, I don't think so,"

"Video Game console?" said Velvet

"I have the latest system,"

"Then I have no idea,"

"Me neither," said Coco

"Well, we just have to wait until the gift exchange after cake," said Ruby

Then the birthday cake came. Jennifer reveals a strawberry chocolate cake with thirteen red candles on top of the cake. Jennifer lit the candles, and everyone started to sing happy birthday to Ruby. By the end of the song, Ruby blows out the candles. Next is the gift exchange. Ruby got a wide variety of presents from card games, rollerblades, new clothes, gift cards, and a book of weapons. In the end, the last person to give Ruby is her mom has. She carries a large box that's moving around, leaving Ruby to wonder what inside.

Jennifer hands Ruby the gift; she opens the gift to reveal a white labrador retriever puppy. Ruby is so happy seeing the puppy.

"Puppy!" said Ruby, getting the puppy out of the box and hugging it as the dog started to lick his face.

"I know you've been asking one for years, and I think it's the best time for you to have one," said Jennifer

"Thank you, thank you,"

"Now you must take full care of him and take responsibility,"

"I will, mom,"

"Good, now have fun with your new companion,"

After the party, Jennifer knocks on Ruby's bedroom door.

"Come in," said Ruby on the other side of the door

Jennifer walks in to see Ruby petting a sleepy puppy in her lap, and Jennifer sits next to her.

"So have you give him a name yet?" said Jennifer

"Yep," said Ruby

"What is it?"

"Cooper,"

"That's a perfect name, Ruby," Jennifer sighs and look down on the bad looking sad"Ruby, since your older, I have to tell you,"

"What is it?"

"You know I love you no matter what,"

"Yes," Ruby got worried, "mom, what's going on?"

"What's going is that I have to tell you the truth,"

"The truth?"

"Yes, is that.." Jennifer paused for a second and said, "I'm not your birth mother,"

"Birthmother? You mean your not my biological mom,"

"Yes,"

"That's mean I'm adopted,"

"Yes,"

"What happened to my biological mom?"

"She died. She got attack by some Grimms in the woods,"

"And what about my dad?"

"I'm still trying to find that out. I won't stop finding him,"

"Oh,"

"Look, Ruby, you have the right to be upset with me. I wouldn't blame you,"

"I'm not angry, mom. I'm just...sad,"

"I know, sweetie,"

"What does my birth mother look like?"

"Just like you silver eyes and your hair color, she wore the whitest cloak I see in Remnant,"

There was silence in the bedroom until Ruby spoke up.

"Mom,"

"Yes, Ruby,"

"I know your not my biological mom, but you're still the best mom ever,"

Jennifer cries and smiles as she hugs Ruby. "I love you, Ruby,"

Ruby hugs back. "I love you too, mom,"

(Author note: DO you guys think I should give Ruby a new weapon or a different Crescent Rose)
