Alex woke up at 3:00 am, as he normally does. He went for a quick run then had one of his 'lovely' cold showers to keep him fully awake.
By now it was 4:00 and he packed his bedside torch into the suitcase and some painkillers. He put on some cargo pants as they were what he most likes and were really comfortable, he put on a baggy, brown t-shirt with a poo emoji on and a waterproof jacket around his waist. His shoes were black and waterproof. This is normally what Alex wears anyway but was really meant for SAS training.
At 4:30am he left the 'bank' and headed for school aiming to get there early to meet Tom. He arrived at around 4:40 (ten minutes after he left) and was the only one there. He sat by the school's coach, his duffle bag by his side, the puddles had cleared overnight and the sun shone through the clouds.
Within the next few minutes Brittney turned up in a car, she was on her phone and hadn't gotten out yet. But as soon as Walter turned up, she was straight out... after she left her beloved phone behind. Walter carried a big suitcase and Brittney, a bright pink duffle bag. Why did them two have to be the first? Hurry up Tom. Alex thought, just then Tom ran in through the gates, a shirt fell out of his bag and he ran bag to collect it making Alex smirk. Tom was dressed close to Alex's look but Walter was in designer jeans, t-shirt, a Nike jacket and Adidas trainers. You could say Walter was slightly prepared but Brittney was a different story she was wearing a purple crop top, pink mini skirt and heels. A fluffy cardigan around her waist and her long black hair over her shoulders, yet to be put up in a ponytail. Alex and Tom laughed together at this.
The rest of the pupils turned up at around 4:55. And as written on the letter the coach left at 5:00 after everyone had gotten on.
-Half way through the journey-
"James! How dare you spill your coke on my skirt!" Brittney screeched only to be rushed to by a teacher who said...
"You were suppose to be wearing jeans, trousers, jeggings or shorts. But you chose a skirt, that's your fault."
Most of the year burst out laughing.
"But, it's hot out and I want to be fashionable!" she remarked.
"Your going to a SAS camp, take out those earrings. We will stop for a toilet break soon and I expect you to change in to something more... suitable." the P.E teacher shouted down the bus.
Another load of laughs left the mouths of the class. Brittney started fake crying so she could get some sympathy.
-At the toilet break (halfway there)-
"Brittney get rid of the crop top and put on a normal t-shirt, please." Mr Spearman said, he was Brookland's P.E teacher as well as language teacher, he was going to help out with language at the camp. Brittney stomped off to the ladies loos to change again. When she came back out the teachers nodded "That's better!"
-Arriving-
Along the way came more calls of 'you just spilt more coke on me' 'ugh I hate my outfit, they're gonna hate me' 'does my hair look nice' 'do I look decent at least' 'Are my eyes looking sparkly' 'wish I brought a mirror' 'I miss my makeup' 'why couldn't I wear earrings' 'No, oh no, no I forgot my designer hoodie' and that was just from Brittney, where as Walter was going about 'You do look pretty' 'Don't run off with them' 'Your outfit is ok' 'yes' 'yes' yes' 'I can't wait to show druggie rider up' .
You could almost hear the actual coach scream them to stop, and coaches can't scream.
The whole year and the teachers piped up at once "SHUT UP BRITTNEY!" the typical welsh rain had started up as they passed into deep countryside near the nearer to the SAS camp they got the more quiet everyone got.
They all got out bags in hand and went into the camp where the two other schools were. Highworth on the right and Langton on the left leaving them to slot into the middle.
Tom and Alex remained quiet amongst the crowd, they looked at the soldiers who were looking back in disgust at all the teenagers.
"SILENCE!" the sergeant bellowed at the top of his voice. Everyone shut their mouths at once.
"Sir!" Alex and Tom and some other girl from Highworth stood to attention. The rest of the teens just stood and looked at them. The brookland pupils whispered 'druggie rider thinks he's cool'.
"Well at least some have respect. Name?" he pointed the girl
"Bethany Brooks Sir." she piped up. She had chestnut brown hair, deep hazel eyes, freckles and was wearing the correct thing to wear.
"You two?" the sergeant pointed at Tom and Alex, Tom replied first.
"Tom Harris."
Alex's eyes widened, he couldn't lie because his peers and teachers would know "Alex, Sir, Alex Rider Sir." The SAS soldier's jaws dropped and eyes widened but the sergeant said...
"Well, Harris, Brooks and Rid-" He paused, Alex Rider, he thought, Agent Rider, John Rider, Ian Rider. He pondered. He had heard of this new Agent Rider, savior of the world tonnes of times. "Cub?" he said
"CUBBIKINS?!" a man behind sergeant screamed.
Alex sighed "Hi Eagle!" The students looked at him.
"As I was saying, Harris, Brooks and Cub don't have to do this but, the rest of you. Drop and give me 50!" Sergeant called out. "K-Unit will be in charge of you lot with help from D-Unit! Cub welcome back." Brookland school just stared at Alex whilst Highworth and Langton dropped to the ground and started to do some pushups. "I said drop and give me 50, Brookland's that includes you!"
Alex walked up to K-Unit. "Hi." He said.
"CUBBIKINS!" Eagle shouted. "CUBBIKINS IS BACK!"
Wolf grunted and snake, showing no real happiness about getting the kid back, said "After your short stay and when Fox left we were just 3 but now we have Jackal." He gestured to the other man.
"You saying he was in K-Unit before?" The others nodded at Jackal "What? He's barely out of Nappies."
To everyone's surprise, Wolf turned on his unit member "Jackal!" he began dangerously, "If you think..."
But Alex stopped him by holding up a hand "If you think your superior to me, take your best shot." he spread his arms wide which infuriated and amused Jackal. Meanwhile the pupils stopped doing pushups and looked up to watch the fight.
"I don't normally hurt children, but since you're asking me..." Jackal crunched his knuckles threateningly, but found it didn't affect Alex, after all, he had faced much worse than an angry SAS soldier.
Alex relaxed his stance and rubbed an arm to look innocent. Said picture was ruined by the image of a wicked glint in Alex's eyes and slight turning up at the corner of his lips. "Wait a second, isn't your name Jackass? Wow, how did the Sarge pick a name that suited you so well?"
With a furious roar, Jackal lunged at him. The student's eyes widened. Alex watched, biding this time. For some people, like the enraged on coming man, anger succeeded in taking over their bodies, and for them, anger meant mistakes. Jackal's first move, and error, was to swipe and Alex's face. Alex easily dodged the undisciplined blow and swept the opponents feet out from under them. Unfortunately, for Jackal, he couldn't stop tripping and ran into a bench, flipping over and face-planted in the mud, breaking his nose in the process. Laughter rang throughout the area.
"Nice one Cub!" Snake high-fived the kid. Alex thought, this is better from last time I came here. And smiled. His classmates looked at him in awed silence, Alex could guess what they were thinking: 'Since when did druggie Rider learn to do that and be best friends with SAS soldiers?'
"Oops, I guess he tripped." Alex smirked and bowed at the crowd like he had just done a tightrope act, talking of which he had, but many many missions ago.
"Cubbikins beat him up!" Eagle bounced towards him.
Alex raised an eyebrow at Snake and Wolf "Did you give him coffee?" Snake nodded.
"Oh no, Coffee and Eagle don't mix, they don't even go in the same sentence together, ever. Why'd you let that happen." He face palmed.
Eagle bounced and spoke all in one word"It's-alright-Cubbikins-it-was-my-birthday-a-week-ago-and-I-got-coffee-then."
"You got him coffee for his birthday, what else?"
Eagle's words sped up "Chocolate-coffee-balloons-chocolate-sweets-did-I-say-chocolate?- No-ok-chocolate" he bounced higher and when he landed he slipped on the mud and crashed into Brittney who was now covered in mud as well. She screamed and started crying.
This is going to be a good stay. Alex smiled to himself.
