Wheatley woke up with a yawn. "What happened?" He said. It wasn't until he realized what he had done. "Agh!" He yelled. "My mouth! It's has a mind of its own! Bloody hell, anything could have gone into it! A fly, some dust, literally anything! Oh why is this-" suddenly, the door of the room opened. Chell walked in. "Mornin." She said. "Oh thank goodness you're here!" Said Wheatley. "The crazyest thing just happened. My mouth-" he yawned once more. "Agh! See? Mind of its own. It could be pretty dangerous if it's going to keep doing that, by the way. Anything can get into it. "

Chell smiled. "You're yawning," She told him. "It's natural. You'll be fine." "Natural? What do you mean natural? I've never done this before! I-" He stopped, as all of the events that happened the day before came back to him. " Wait a moment. Am I really a... a human? After so long, I'm a human? I should probably be extra careful with this new body then, or so to speak, my old one, since I can get pretty hurt in this one. Wait, speaking of hurt, how's everyone? Are they all okay? Are they alright?" He asked Chell.

"The're alright," Explains Chell, sitting on the bed next to him. "No one's seriously hurt." Wheatley sighed. "Oh good, that's a relief, really. I was worried there for a second that someone really did get hurt while I was controlling the Cyro-Room. Pretty hard to control it too be honest. Also, I wasn't exactly sure if the chambers were actually 'bomb-proof' like I told Her, but as long as everything turned out fine, I'm fine." He said.

"So, how are you feeling?" Asked Chell. "About being human? Not bad. It's kinda like a big upgrade to my robot body. A HUGE upgrade, giving me access to things I never had. I also feel, I feel a bit weird..." he trailed off. The memory of Chell kissing him in That Place came into view. "So... did you actually mean what you did back there? Before I passed out? Even after that I left you behind twice and nearly killed you way back then?" He asked slowly. Chell looked at him. "You saved everyone. You saved me. You came back for me, and everyone else I love. Why wouldn't it not mean anything?" Wheatley sat back on the bed. "You forgave me?" He said. "Yup." She said.

All of a sudden, a low growling sound came from his stomach. "GAHH! Okay! What is that? Is there something inside my stomach? Oh man alive, that does NOT feel good. It's empty. It feels as if someone torn my insides out of there! This body was inside that tank for who knows how long! Is this a sign of death?" Wheatley panicked. Chell laughed. "You're hungry. You probably never had food in years. Here, I'll make you some bagels. How does that sound?"

Wheatley clenched his stomach. "Bagels? But I can't eat them... oh wait never mind." He said, meeting up with Chell's 'Have you forgotten already' look. "Bagels, never had them in years. Tell you what? I'm all in for it! All in for the bagels!" "Good!" Said Chell, as she stood up from the bed. Wheatley threw off the covers. A cloud of dust emerged from them as he stood up.

Wheatley felt a tingle in his nose. "Uh Chell... somethings, u-up with my n-nose..."

"A-CHOO!"

"AHHH!"

June 12th, 1987

"Brother, seriously, stop worrying about me! I'm fine!" Said 15 year old Nina. She was grabbing the first aid kit, treating her brothers injuries and bruises. "You can't go back in there, it's too dangerous. We already have enough money. You can find a new job!"

Nina's brother was sitting in the bed, purple and swollen spots all over his body. He came into the house that afternoon, limping, and groaning in pain, after working at Aperture for a week straight. Sometimes, her brother would be gone for even months working at Aperture, and Nina would have to go inside the facility to convince the supervisor to let him off for a couple of days. Her brother would always reject, but he would always come back home in critical condition.

"Nina, you know how I feel about the job. It's incredible! Sure, things like this happen, but they come and go. I'm fine. Honest." Said her brother. "Tell that to your swollen ankle." Said Nina. She sat down on the bed, next to him. She opened the first aid kit, and took out her bandages. Working at Aperture Labratories was never like this. Ever since her brother got accepted to the job 2 years ago, he would always work for the day, and come home exhilarated. He would always tell Nina what he had seen and done throughout the day. And each thing intrested Nina into one day, also working for Aperture.

Until, a year ago.

Aperture was facing financial problems, and needed their employees to stay longer time in the facility due to less people working there for unknown reasons. Of course, Nina didn't really mind until one day, her brother came home with hearing issues. He couldn't hear that much of what Nina was saying to him. It wasn't until with a quick talk with the other employees that her brother was testing out a new product of Aperture: The Material Emancipation Grill, which would be used in a new project called "Testing". Apparently, he went through it too many times that it actually damaged his ear canals. "Don't worry. It would heal in about a week" said the supervisor. His ears did heal, but then starting after that, the injuries kept becoming a frequent thing with her brother, each becoming more severe than the other one. 'This time, he was lucky,' Thought Nina, as she treated to her brother. 'Bruises this time and a fractured ankle. Not bad from what he had before.'

"So," She said to her brother. "What was it this time?" Her older brother looked down at her. "I got covered in Repulsion Gel," he said. . "Not again..." groaned Nina. "The last time you were covered in a gel, you kept running into the walls." "That was Propulsion Gel. Way different than Repulsion Gel. This Gel repels anything that touches it." Nina shook her head. "Let me guess. You got covered in it, and then you couldn't stop jumping around the facility." Her brother smiled. "At least I was high enough to touch the stars!"

Nina signed. " Brother, at this rate, you'll never go to space like this. If you are never careful, anything might happen to you. How did you even get covered in Repulsion Gel in the first place?!" Her brother had a sheepish look on his face. "Well, you see... um..." Nina tightened the bandages on her brothers ankle. "Ouch!" He said. "It was HER, wasn't it?" She said smugly. Her brothers face became red as a tomato. "Yeah..." he sighed.

This was another reason why her brother loved his job so much. He has a major crush on one of Aperture's employees: Ella Macron. They met on the day her brother got covered in Propulsion Gel. "Love at first sight" teased the other employees as he crashed along the walls of the facility.

Nina finished wraping her brothers ankle in the bandage, and told her brother to stay put while she puts away the first aid kit, and to get him a glass of water from the Kitchen. As she walked away, Nina looked around the house, a feeling of luck pulsed into her heart. She was lucky to have a brother like hers. For 10 long years, they have been living in a small hut, built by the remains of the dump items. Now, they are living in a small house at a small village. Nina was even able to go to a real school, since she was no longer home schooled by her brother.

As she went into the Kitchen, Nina heard a small beeping noise nearby. She listened closely. It was coming from the hallway. Nina walked over there, to investigate. It was the house phone, beeping because her brother has missed 3 calls already from his supervisor, and he's calling again for a fourth time. Nina answered the call. "Hello?" She asked.

"Ah yes, Nina. Good evening my dear. Is your brother nearby by any chance?" Asked his Supervisor.

"No, he's in his room. I just patched him up from the Repulsion Gel fiasco." Explains Nina. " He needs a lot of rest. Can you call him again later?"

"Sorry Nina. No can do. But if you like, would you mind letting him know that he has a big promotion ahead of him? There would be a meeting about that tomarrow at 6pm." Said the supervisor.

"I appreciate the offer, but-" "Sorry Nina, But I have to leave. Please tell your brother about the promotion! Have a nice night!" Said the supervisor, cutting Nina off her sentence. The call ended. Nina grumbled. She doesn't like the way how Aperture Labratories treat their employees. 'No wonder they are so low on them.' Though Nina, slamming the phone back on to its case.

Nina returned to the kitchen. She grabbed a water bottle from the fridge, and then went walked over to her brothers room with the news.

"Hello? This thing is on right? Oh good. Nina. You may not know who I am, but I'm you, in the past. It's 1987 back where I am calling you. Now, you should be getting this after your sequence in Cyro-Sleep Suspension. Point is, you have a large case of brain damage. There is not much room on the USB to fully explain this, but, long story short: You are in Aperture Labratories. This is the place that your brother works. Your brother is a good man. The best one in the world. He has risked so much to take care of you. The thing is, he was recently promoted into something big in this place. This place is a dangerous place. After he left for the promotion, he never came back. More time has passed, and you decided to look for him. The employees here lie. They lie about his whereabouts. Don't trust them. "

"You decided to steal access cards after that, hoping that you can get into the restricted areas in Aperture to see where he is. You did get access to the main security room. The footage is not pretty. Your brother ended going to a new area in the facility, called the "Personality Spheres Unit." He was there for a week in one of the rooms. 3 days later, out came a suspension tube. It looks like a Cyro-Chamber, except that it's more tube like, and was filled with suspension fluids. I think he is in there..."

Now, you managed to sneak into the Unit, finding these files. They are also inside the USB. These files are blueprints of what your brother (as a robot) is supposed to do, and what he might look like. It says that his function is to calm the GlaDOS Unit Down from flooding the Enrichment Center with a deadly Neurotoxin. Its supposed to keep her entertained with a subject, but it's been marked as [Redacted]. There is a way to track him down though. You need to go back to the Personality Spheres Unit to activate the tracker. But, whatever you do, if he's back at the Enrichment Center, you need to find a way to shut the..."

Nina's eyes were tearing up. Her brother. Her memories. Everything about her life was torn apart. All because of a stupid promotion. Nina screamed in anger. It's not just because she doesn't remember much in her past, but because she knew that her brother was in danger for all these years and she was stuck in a Cyro-Chamber. By looking around, so much has happened in Aperture during her absence that there is no way of telling if he is still alive. All of her beloved memories were either blurred or gone. And inside her, was full of hurt.

She was alone. But she can change that.

Nina looked at the computer screen. The document contained an image of a Personality Sphere - probably her brother's conscience. As explained from the video, many parts of the files were marked under [Redacted]. Nina grumbled. She continued reading the document. Its files stated that it was a failed experiment. It was supposed to calm down the GlaDOS unit, but failed since she managed to bypass it's programming. "6 fatalities, 12 injured of Neurotoxin Poisoning." Said Nina out loud. "Huh. I guess that's the robot I was warning myself to not to trust..."

She kept reading. After it's failure, the Sphere (now known as "core") has gotten courrupted by the GlaDOS Unit. Not caring much about the courruption, the scientists decided to have the core work around the facility, traveling by management rails, to see what job would it prove best on. The core was the third of the 4 cores that failed to do their task with the GlaDOS Unit. Each one managed to get courrupted, except for the first core, which is know as an I.D. Core. (Intelligence Dampening Sphere). That core had the best results out of the four, and was given a proper job in the facility: keepIng an eye on those who are in suspension. 'Wait' Thought Nina.

'That I.D. core... he could know where my brother is! He has to be taking good care of my brother! His body could still be alive!' Thought Nina. 'Then again, he could be a dumb core, and he probably messed up on his job many times, since he is an I.D. core." Nina sighed. 'But what does it matter? I have to find my brother. At all costs.' She picked up the USB chip from the computer. As she got up to leave, she saw a backpack on the floor, with a laptop. 'I'm just gonna have to steal this for the time being." She said out loud.

She picked up the backpack, and began to leave the room. Not before waving goodbye to the turret. "Thanks for not shooting me when you had the chance!" Said Nina as she opened the door of the abandoned office. "The answer is above us. Her name is Caroline." It said as the door closed behind Nina.

"So, um, let me get this straight. You have a conscience inside your head that does things to your body by itself? Without you controlling it? Like, let's just say for instance, breathing. Those holes on your nose, it's where the air comes in and out, keeping me alive?" Asked Wheatley at the dinner table. Garret was there, sitting in the opposite side of him. Chell was sitting next to Wheatley, shaking her head. "It's called a Brain, not a conscience. A conscience is like an inner voice that helps you understand what's right and wrong." She explains.

Wheatley has been curious and careful with his human body ever since he woke up in the morning. All around Eaden, the little town that they lived, he kept Chell busy by asking questions about humans, like "why do we do this?" or "AHH! What did I just do?" all while Chell tried to do her daily errands and chores.

"Oh." Said Wheatley. "Wait, but why do humans have inner voices in their heads? And why is it more louder than a robots? Not that us robots don't have these inner voices. We do, but we can be able to make it stop talking. Poof! Gone. Absolute silence in those minds." Said Wheatley. Garret chuckled to himself, wondering if Wheatley's inner voice would ever stop rambling in there.

Apparently Chell was thinking the same thing, and burst out laughing. Wheatley looked and both of them, confused. "What's so funny?" He asked. "Did I say something wrong? Oh what did I say? I hope I don't say it again because it's pretty much giving me the feeling of embarrassment," Garret stops laughing. "It's nothing, really Wheatley. Well, I better head back to the shop. It's getting pretty late anyways." He said.

"Are you still working on that turret?" Asked Chell. "Yeah!" Said Garret excitingly. While Chell, Wheatley, Garret, and the rest of the town of Eaden escaped from That Place, Garret found a harmless turret, and took it back to Eaden as a souvenir. Ever since then, he began decoding it's programming, staring in awe at the "beautiful work" put into the turret.

"Well, it's late too. We should be getting some sleep now," said Chell, as she she stacks up the plates of food to put them in the dishwasher. "Have a nice night!" Said Garret. "Goodbye!" Said Chell and Wheatley to Garret, as he left the house. Chell began washing the dishes. As she did, Wheatley looked around the house, for something to do. "Should you be heading upstairs to the bedroom?" Asked Chell.

"Oh! Um, yeah. Bedroom. Late. Sleeping time, got it." Said Wheatley, as he walked up the stairs. As he went to the bedroom, he noticed there were some clothes on the bed. "Oh right I remember! Pajamas! I think that's what they are called!" He said. He went to the bathroom to try them on. It was a white T-shirt and some baggy sweat-pants. "Not bad! It's a nice fit anyways!" Said Wheatley, as Chell walked into the room. "Good" she said. She grabbed her Pajamas and went to the bathroom to change.

"By the way, have you brushed your teeth yet?" She asked Wheatley through the door. "Teeth brushing? No, I haven't done it yet." Said Wheatley. "How do you brush your teeth again? I don't remember well, but it was paste on a brush, and then you eat the brush and boom, teeth cleaned, job done!" He could hear Chell sighing through the door. "No Wheatley, not like that."

Chell spent half in hour in the bathroom explaining Wheatley how to brush his teeth. Once they got it all down for Wheatley, it was time for bed. Chell laid down on one side of the bed, and Wheatley that the other. After saying goodnight, Chell went to sleep.

Wheatley, however, couldn't find a way too fall asleep. 'Wow.' He thought. 'Sleeping must be a natural for her. She fell asleep really quickly. I guess if it's natural for her, and all the humans out there, then I guess it should be natural for me as well. Here, how about it I sleep on my side?' He shifted to his shoulder, attempting to sleep on his side.

'It kind of works... never mind.' He continued thinking. 'Oh! I have another idea! I could stare at the wall! And maybe also keep my inner voice down too. Okay. Silence. Silence and staring. But mostly slience. Starting, Now!'

He stared at the wall, keeping his mind in an empty state.

Half an hour later, he grumbled. 'Ugh. Brilliant. Another worthless idea.' He tossed himself on to his back. Suddenly, Chell began to move. Wheatley froze. 'Oh no! She's gonna wake up! Ohnoohnoohno...' But then, she stopped moving. 'Oh, phew...' He thought. 'Too close' he looked up at the ceiling now. 'Up there' he thought. 'It reminds me of space. Oh wait... Kevin. Poor fellow...'

The painful memory came back to him. The memory of the happy little core, up in space, without a care in the world. Smashed into smithereens by a meteor. Lost in space. 'I wonder if it was the best way for him to go...' Thought Wheatley, not before closing his eyes and finally, just finally, drifted off to sleep
