Forbidden Love

This will follow close to the Book 2 finale, but the Dai Li will betray Azula when she least expects it and Katara will save her, leading to the two developing feelings for each other

Author's Note: This will be set shortly after Azula's speech to the Dai Li when one of the agents visits Long Feng in his cell

Outside a closed cell stood a Dai Li agent.

"Movements of all the generals and the king have been plotted out. Step by step, no less." The Dai Li agent said Long Feng, the man inside the cell, and his superior.

"Good. Is the Princess cooperating?" Long Feng asked.

"More than that. She's taken charge. She inspires yet terrifies at the same time. It's a little hard to explain. But like I said, the Dai Li remains loyal to you, sir."

Long Feng smirked.

"...Should we take a precaution?" The agent asked.

"About what?"

"One member of her team was born to a Firebender and a Waterbender, but this girl...Zirrinni, I believe is her name...said she can bend both elements."

"...That could prove useful. Take her on a trip to Lake Laogai."

"Yes, sir." The agent said. "What about her other two friends?"

"Are they benders?"

"No, sir, but they are fighters."

"Then don't bother with them."

"Very well, sir." The agent said then walked away.

Zirrinni, dressed as a Kyoshi Warrior, was walking through the palace alone when two Dai Li agents, one of whom was the one who spoke with Long Feng, approached her.

"Everything is in place." The other agent said.

Zirrinni nodded. "Good. Wait for Azula's order." She said then moved to walk past the two, but they blocked her path. Zirrinni frowned. "Let me pass."

"I'm afraid we can't do that." The one who spoke with Long Feng said then knocked Zirrinni out.

When she came to, Zirrinni found herself alone, in a dark room with the two Dai Li agents.

She glared at them. "What is the meaning of this?! Princess Azula will not stand for this!"

"If your princess believed that the Dai Li would betray Long Feng, then she's sadly mistaken." The agent said then used earthbending to make sure Zirrinni couldn't turn her head as a dimly lit lantern began to circle the agent.

"What are you planning?" Zirrinni asked.

"You will listen. You will obey." The agent said then repeated the phrase a couple more times.

Zirrinni's eyes soon widened and she didn't move a muscle.

"Zirrinni, can you hear me?"

"Yes..." Zirrinni replied in a monotone voice.

The agent smirked. "When you hear the phrase 'The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai', you will respond by saying 'I am honored to receive his invitation' and will attack Princess Azula and her friends for Long Feng."

"I will attack Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee..."

"After that, if you hear the phrase, you will become receptive to orders. Understood?"

"Understood..."

"You will be brought back to the palace and forget being kidnapped. You will believe you were chasing a friend of the Avatar's and were knocked during the chase. Do you understand?"

"I understand..."

Before long, Zirrinni was brought back to the palace unconscious. Mai and Ty Lee spotted her at the entrance and ran to her, worried.

"Rinni, wake up!" Ty Lee said.

Zirrinni slowly came to and groaned, a hand on her head. "Wow... I feel like I got trampled by a herd of rhinos..." She muttered as she slowly sat up.

"What happened?" Mai asked.

Zirrinni tried to remember for a minute, before the programming kicked in. "...I was chasing a friend of the Avatar's. I got here to the palace entrance then got knocked out." Zirrinni replied as she slowly stood up.

"Come on. Let's get you inside." Ty Lee said as Azula walked to them.

"Everything okay?" The princess asked.

"Rinni said she was chasing a friend of the Avatar's and got knocked out." Ty Lee replied.

"Is the true, Zirrinni?"

The hybrid bender nodded. "It was the other hybrid bender in the world."

"The one that bends air and earth."

Zirrinni nodded.

"Hmm. Anyway, in the event that the Earth King and the Generals somehow escape, rendezvous with me at the Crystal Catacombs."

The three girls nodded.

The Dai Li agent stood outside Long Feng's cell. "The programming is in place, sir."

Long Feng smirked. "Excellent."

Meanwhile, Shao, a hybrid bender like Zirrinni, was with Aang, Iroh, Toph, Momo, and Sokka, headed to the palace.

"Guys, I just realized something." Shao said.

"What is it, Double Bender?" Toph asked.

"If Azula's here in Ba Sing Se, we have to assume her friends are too."

"Let's split up. Aang and Iroh, go rescue Katara and Zuko. Toph and I will warn the Earth King." Sokka said.

"Shao, you go with them. If Zirrinni's here, you can take her." Aang said.

"Got it." Shao said.

The trio then headed up the palace stairs as General How was placed under house arrest.

"Shao, use the air scooter and head inside." Sokka said.

"On it." Shao said then formed an air scooter and headed to the throne room. Sokka and Toph soon arrived afterward.

"Good. We're just in time." Sokka said.

"For what?" King Kuei asked.

"Yeah. For what?" Ty Lee asked then did a one handed flip to Sokka.

Toph however realized who Ty Lee, Mai, and Zirrinni were and used her Earthbending on Ty Lee, but the acrobat landed on her feet above the throne.

"What the hell, Toph?" Shao asked.

"They're not Kyoshi Warriors!" The blind girl replied.

"Sorry to disappoint, Sokka." Zirrinni said then Mai threw some of her knives at Toph who blocked them with her Earthbending before kicking the rock at Mai.

The weapons mistress simply jumped, but when she landed, Toph used her Earthbending again.

Sokka was dodging Ty Lee's attempts to use her chi blocking while Shao and Zirrinni fought with bending until Azula held King Kuei hostage. The three members of Team Avatar surrendered and Ty Lee chi blocked them and they fell to the ground.

"Don't take them away just yet." Long Feng requested and the three were put on their knees. "Now, comes the part where you get double crossed, Princess."

"And how do you plan to do that?" Azula foolishly dared.

Long Feng looked at the hybrid bender on Azula's team with a smirk. "Zirrinni, the Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai." He said.

Shao, Sokka, and Toph tensed when those words left his mouth, while Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee were confused.

Zirrinni's pupils dilated. "I am honored to accept his invitation..." She responded in a monotone voice, before she used her Waterbending and froze Ty Lee in place.

"Rinni?!" Ty Lee said as the hybrid bender used her Firebending on Mai, who managed to dodge the attacks until Zirrinni used chi blocking to paralyze Mai.

Azula let go of the Earth King as Zirrinni turned to the princess. "Zirrinni, you wouldn't dare!" She said.

"But she will. Do it, Zirrinni." Long Feng said then Zirrinni used Waterbending to combat Azula's Firebending.

Zirrinni prepared to use lightning then blasted Azula with it. The blast wasn't powerful enough to kill Azula, but it did send her to the wall. Azula hit her head hard and groaned. Several of the Dai Li agents shot rock gloves and rock shoes at Azula as well. When the relentless assault stopped, Azula collapsed to her side and passed out.

"So, the Lake Laogai conspiracy was true!" The Earth King said with a frown.

"Lock all seven of them up." Long Feng said then the Dai Li did exactly that.

Unbeknownst to the Dai Li, Momo managed to avoid being captured and flew off to get Aang and Iroh.
