So I was debating whether to post this or not-I wrote it simply for my own amusement-but ultimately I decided to. I guess I just wanted to explore this possible way that Lois could discover Clark's secret. Anyway, hope you enjoy :)
Summary: One day Lois wakes up and… well, let's just say she's not exactly herself. Turns out Clark is facing a similar situation. A "be careful what you wish for" story. Set during season 8 after the episode "Stiletto."
Disclaimer: I don't own Smallville
Shooting Star
Chapter 1
Lois couldn't help but smile, thinking about her first phone call with the Blur. Of all of the people the Blur decided to talk to her… it was her. Was it because of Lois' whole Stiletto stunt? Maybe that had caught his attention, like she hoped. Sure, the article will never get close to being published, but posing as a superhero seemed to make the Blur notice her.
Lois thought it was nice hearing his voice, even though it wasn't his actual voice. But when Lois said that she didn't want to expose the Blur, she meant every word. She was just there to listen to him—to be a friend. She couldn't imagine how lonely it must be for the Blur, how isolating. How many people in the Blur's life knew what he does on a daily basis? The way he rescues people in the shadows and never asks for anything in return. Lois thought that was pretty heroic of him.
Lois headed to her apartment. Sure, she had told Clark that she wanted to be the first person to have an interview with the Blur, but maybe if the Blur wanted to stay in the shadows, it wasn't up to her to pull him into the light. The Blur can do that at his own pace. Still, Lois couldn't help but wonder who the Blur was and what he did when he wasn't saving lives. Did he have a day job? Did he have a girlfriend? A wife? Kids?
When Lois reached her apartment, she suddenly felt exhausted. She saw her blinds were still open, so she went to close them. Only, she hesitated. In the sky was a shooting star. It was beautiful. Lois wondered if the Blur could see the shooting star wherever he was. She then wished she could understand him better, what life must be like for him. She hoped he would give her another call.
Lois sighed and closed the blinds, forgetting about the shooting star. She also completely forgot about her "wish." It wasn't like she believed shooting stars could really grant you anything. She just slid in her bed, eventually falling asleep.
Lois woke up from the sun ray hitting her face. What the—? Hadn't she closed the blinds last night? Lois may had been exhausted, yeah, but she remembered that. She always closed her blinds before heading to bed. Waking up to a bright room was not her forte. She opened her eyes and frowned when she realized she was no longer in her apartment, but… Clark's room? What was she doing here? She hadn't slept in Clark's room in four years, so what was she doing back here? Unless Clark kidnapped her in her sleep, which would be so un-Clark-like.
Lois slid out of bed. She was still half-asleep but she made her way out to the hallway. "Smallville?" Okay, what was wrong with her voice? Was she coming down with a seriously bad cold? Or maybe her ears were playing tricks on her.
Lois reached the kitchen. She opened the fridge and reached for the pitcher of orange juice. She wasn't sure how she ended up at the Kent Farm, but she was sure thirsty. Just then, the door opened, and Lois expected it to be Clark to walk in. She certainly didn't expect it to be Chloe.
"Chlo," Lois said. "Please tell me you know how I got here."
Chloe raised her eyebrows. "You walked through the door? Are you okay?"
"No, I mean, I fell asleep in Metropolis and—and now I'm here."
Chloe's eyes widened. "You fell asleep in Metropolis?"
Why was Chloe asking that? "You say it like it's a weird thing."
"Did you fall asleep while on petrol?" Chloe asked. "Because that's the only explanation I can think of. You must have slept-walked back. Look, if you're sleeping on the job, maybe you should take it down a notch. You're not completely invulnerable, okay?"
Patrol? But then Lois caught the word "job." "Wha—No, Chloe. I didn't mean that I fell asleep at the Daily Planet. All I know is that I went to bed and then I woke up here!"
"Waking up in your own house is pretty normal, Clark."
Clark? Lois then realized while her—or his? —voice sounded so wrong yet so familiar. It was Clark's voice. Why didn't she put it together before? That should have been so obvious, but she thought she was just her sluggish morning self as usual.
"I need to go to work," Lois said. "I'm going to be late! Where are Cl—my car keys?"
Chloe frowned. "You aren't just going to run to work?"
"Run?" Lois said. "To the Daily Planet?" Clark sure had a fit body, but Lois doubted he ran to work each morning. That run would be impossible! The drive alone was about three hours.
"Let me guess, you're working on a story with Lois so you need the car?" Chloe said.
Huh?
"Yeah, that's it," Lois lied to just shut Chloe up.
Lois then found Clark's car keys in a short time, all while Chloe was watching, curiously.
"Are you sure you're okay, Clark?" Chloe said.
Lois just wanted to blab and tell Chloe what was going on. But truthfully, she wasn't sure what was going on and she didn't want to worry her cousin. "I'm fine," Lois lied.
"Have you heard anything new from the Kandorians?" Chloe asked.
Kandorians? "No," Lois said.
"Well, I have something," Chloe said. "Oliver and I think they started building the tower that will convert the yellow sun to a red one. There's some construction going on and the donation came largely from Zod."
Convert the yellow sun? And Zod, Clark's friend? Lois was so confused she didn't know what to say.
"You look like in a deer in headlights," Chloe said. "But since the construction has started, all we need is to figure out how to stop the project from finishing. That way we can divert the future Lois saw."
Okay, now Lois was seriously intrigued. The future Lois saw? Lois had no idea what Chloe was talking about! "Don't you think we should talk to Lois about this?" Lois said.
"Wha—of course not," Chloe said."We were already lucky she didn't remember anything from the future. And why would we tell her about the Kandorians? She'll just start asking questions, and next thing you know, your secret will be compromised!"
Clark's secret? "Maybe it's time I tell Lois my secret," Lois said, waiting to see her cousin's reaction.
"Clark… are you sure? Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to talk openly to Lois about stuff like this, but telling her you're an alien from another planet might complicate things."
Lois couldn't believe it. Clark was an alien? A real life alien? And here she was calling him Smallville while he wasn't even born on this planet…
"Clark, you're looking at me like I just grew three heads."
Lois didn't know what to say. Then, she thought of something. She might as well be honest about what's going on here. "Okay, don't be mad, Chlo, but something happened to me this morning. Something freaky…"
"Freaky? Freakier than finding out your best friend can lift up a car like a beach ball?"
"I'm not Clark," Lois blurted.
Chloe's eyes widened. "Bizarro?"
"Bizarr—what? No, it's me, Lois."
"Lois," Chloe said. Her skin turned feverish pale. "I just told you…"
"That Clark is an alien from another planet who can apparently lift a car like beach ball? Yeah, you did. But I swear, Chlo, I won't tell anyone Clark's secret. You have my word."
"You're not freaked out?" Chloe said.
"Surprised, but not freaked out. It's Smallville we're talking about. There was always something… special about him. You know, I'm more freaked out that I suddenly woke up as Clark. I have no clue how that could have happened. Hey, I wonder how Clark is doing?"
