Chapter 1: The First Round
Shang Tsung's Island, 1996
Fire God Liu Kang stood in Raiden's place in this newly constructed timeline. His chosen champion Li Jing, a female warrior chosen from the Shaolin, stood alongside him. Li was a beautiful woman, she wore a fighter's garb. A purple robe that showed off her thighs, and knee high heeled purple boots. Her top showed her cleavage and stomach and had the Shaolin emblem on the back, she was a valiant warrior chosen among the Shaolin. She shared the blood of the Great Kung Lao, the former fallen champion of the Mortal Kombat tournament. Liu Kang, being the sculptor of time, could have made a new era where the conflicts between realms didn't exist. But doing so would have caused a paradox, an event that even he couldn't control. He looked at his creation and ultimately his female counterpart that combined both his and Kung Lao's souls and abilities. "This tournament is the most important, this is the tenth tournament for Outworld. I choose you Li Jing because you have the might to prevent Earthrealm's fall." He told his champion.
A blonde female soldier, wearing a low cut tank top exposing her stomach and cleavage, and a man dressed in a tuxedo and sunglasses stood opposite of Fire God Liu Kang. "Hey beautiful. Johnny Cage." He told her. "Good for you." She replied rolling her eyes. "What, Ninja Mime? Citizen Cage? Neither of those ring a bell?" He asked her. A man with a cyborg like right eye walked out into the courtyard, the blonde looked at him and squinted in anger. "Kano." She said. "Kano?" Johnny asked in a surprised response. "Wasn't in that one." Kano, Baraka, and Shang Tsung walked onto the makeshift stage in the center of the garden, Jade, and Kitana, two beautiful warriors who were the daughter and royal guard for Shao Kahn respectively stood to Shang Tsung's left, Jade and Kitana's outfits resembled that of Li Jing except hers was purple. Liu Kang saw Kitana and his feelings immediately stirred up again. "Welcome, to the Mortal Kombat tournament. Some of you are brought here of your own volition. Others were brought here by chance. This is the most important tournament as it is the tenth out of ten tournaments. Outworld has won the previous nine tournaments. This final tournament will determine Earthrealm's fate." Shang Tsung told the crowd.
Li noticed Bi-Han AKA Sub-Zero, a Lin Kuei ninja who fought on Earthrealm's behalf. Hanzo Hasashi, an undead ninja from the Shirai Ryu klan the rival klan of ninja's from the Lin Kuei. "If Earthrealm is successful, the winner will face one final challenge…Me." Shang Tsung said dramatically. "That old geezer's the final challenge?" Johnny asked boastfully. "They might as well give me the belt right now." He added in the same manner. "They do have belts right?" Johnny asked. Shang Tsung suddenly appeared beside Johnny. "What? Where'd you come from?" Johnny asked. "Appearences can be decieving." Shang Tsung told him before floating off the ground and back onto the stage. "For our first challenge. It will be Johnny Cage." Johnny stepped up in a cocky manner waving his hands around as if to say "C'mon". "Yeah, that's right! Who's it gonna be?" He asked in a boastful tone. "Reptile!" Shang Tsung commanded. A scaly green monster that literally looked like a reptile sat crouched on a nearby oriental awning, he leaped from the roof onto the barrier and then stepped in front of Johnny. "Whoa nice stunt, who's your agent?" Johnny asked.
Reptile lunged at Johnny, he opened his mouth and a long tongue came out. He threw it like a whip out of his mouth only to have Johnny grab it and wrap it around his hand, Johnny tugged hard at Reptile pulling him down to the ground. Reptile hopped back to his feet, he kicked at Johnny only to have Johnny block. Johnny threw a three punch combo that landed perfectly in Reptile's sternum and face, he then roundhouse kicked Reptile. Reptile stumbled back before launching an acid projectile hitting Johnny in the face, the projectile stunned and briefly blinded Johnny. Reptile seized the opportunity and kicked Johnny in the side then in the face, Johnny gained his sight back and kicked Reptile in return. The kick stunned Reptile, Johnny kicked him again before landing a left and right hook combo to Reptile's face. Reptile tried to throw a kick at Johnny who grabbed Reptile's leg and swung him around, throwing him into the barricade. Reptile stood to his feet but Johnny gave a roundhouse kick before finishing with an upper cut. With Reptile knocked out, Johnny looked proudly at him and remarked. "He Got Caged!" In a cocky tone.
Johnny boasted and bragged to the warriors, he started going around pointing fingers. "Oh yeah, I am so pretty. And I'm taking you down, I'm taking you down, I'm taking you out, 'I'm taking you out, I'm taking you out, and I'm taking you out…" He said pointing to Sonya last. "For dinner." She groaned in disgust. "Very well, Mr. Cage. Your next opponent will be Baraka." Shang Tsung told Johnny Cage. The deadliest and most brutal of the Outworld Tarkaten Race leaped out from the stage, he extended his arms which then extended sharp blades from his forearms. "Whoa!" Johnny said in amazement. "They shall taste your flesh." Baraka told him. Johnny went on offense, he ran at Baraka and did a flying scissor kick. The kick landed and hit Baraka in the face, Johnny then delivered three roundhouse kicks in a row. The kicks more than stunned the Tarkaten warrior, Johnny mustered up an unknown power and power kicked Baraka. Baraka fell back first on the ground before jumping to his feet, he lunged at Johnny. Johnny dodged Baraka's blades, he dropped down and did the splits punching Baraka in his genitals. Johnny rose to his feet and delivered an uppercut to Baraka, knocking the Tarkaten out.
Johnny was still amazed at Baraka, he caught his breath and looked at him. "Whoa, I love those blades. My producer has got to meet you, we're doing Tommy Scissorfists and…" Shang Tsung cut him off. "Congratulations, Mr. Cage. Now finish him." Shang Tsung told Johnny. "Finish him?" Johnny asked in disbelief. "Kill him!" Shang Tsung shouted. "Whoa, I'm not gonna kill anyone." Johnny replied. "Very well, the tournament will resume at dawn." Shang Tsung said before dissmissing everyone. Liu Kang and Li Jing approached Johnny. "You fight well, Mr. Cage. With proper discipline, you can be a true hero to Earthrealm." Liu Kang told Johnny. Johnny was taken back by Li Jing's beauty, he eyed up the young Shaolin warrior. "Hey beautiful." He told her. "She ids not for you Johnny Cage, your destiny lies with Sonya Blade." Liu Kang told Johnny. "I was hoping so, I'm gonna go find her." Johnny replied before walking off. "That one has a one track mind." Li Jing told Liu Kang. "Yes, but there's a hero within him." Liu Kang replied. The fire god and warrior walked through the temple.
