Chapter 5: Deception Revealed
Hanzo Hasashi, a deceased warrior of the Shirai Ryu klan of assassins. Killed by Bi-Han years before, now resserected by Quan Chi as Scorpion. Appreared in the arena, he had an angry look in his eyes. "Where is the Lin Kuei, Sub-Zero? He killed my family and klan. I will have his head?" Scorpion asked. "Your anger is misplaced." Nightwolf said stepping up. "You are not the only one whose people have been victimized. I found other means besides vengeance." Nightwolf told him. "You no longer seek retribution?" Scorpion asked. They took a fighting stance. Nightwolf summoned two tomahawks and threw them at Scorpion, the specter dissapeared and reappeared behind Nightwolf. Scorpion grabbed Nightwolf and spun him around, he punched him twice with a left and right combo before roundhouse kicking him backwards. Scorpion shot a spear out of his hand at Nightwolf, who dodged then grabbed the chain. He pulled Scorpion towards him and gave an uppercut to the ninja. Scorpion was stunned and Nightwolf used the opportunity to go on the offensive, he threw three jabs followed by a right hook to Scorpion. Nightwolf attempted a side kick when Scorpion blocked, he grabbed Nightwolf's leg and locked him in place. Scorpion punched Nightwolf three times in the face while holding his leg, he then stepped around and swept Nightwolf's other leg taking him to the ground. Scorpion finished Nightwolf off with a final blow to the head, rendering Nightwolf unconscious. "You dishonor your kind." Scorpion told Nightwolf before standing up.
Shang Tsung looked pleased. "An impressive start." He said with a grin. "You waste my time sorcerer!" Scorpion said loudly. "Stand down Scorpion." Quan Chi told Scorpion. The specter obeyed. "You will face Sub-Zero soon enough." Shang Tsung told Scorpion. Liu Kang approached Scorpion. "Nightwolf is right, your anger IS misplaced. Especially where deception is involved." Liu Kang told Scorpion. "What do you know about it?" Scorpion asked Liu Kang. "Defeat Sub-Zero. Afterwards I will show you what otherwordly forces have kept secret." Liu Kang replied. "If you spare Sub-Zero not only will your family and the Shirai Ryu be returned, but you will be free from your own hell." Liu Kang told him. Scorpion reluctantly agreed.
Later on that night, Scorpion walked into Shang Tsung's throne room. Sektor and Cyrax stood there, they eyed up the undead warrior. "Still looking to avenge your klan?" Cyrax asked Scorpion. "My klan may walk the Earth once more." Scorpion replied. Cyrax pushed Scorpion, who in turn took up a stance. "A challenge. Scorpion vs Cyrax and Sektor!" Shang Tsung announced. "Your obsession with Sub-Zero ends here." Cyrax told him. The three had started to fight, Sektor lunged at Scorpion who dodged his attack and roundhoused Sektor three times in the head. He grabbed Sektor by the throat and then kicked Cyrax in the stomach, as the latter Lin Kuei rushed towards him. Sektor dissapeared out of Scorpion's grasp and reappeared jumping out of the floor, he gave Scorpion an uppercut as he jumped out of the black hole in the floor. Scorpion was stunned, but he summoned hellfire to burn Sektor.
The fire stunned the rival ninja but did not leave burns, Scorpion then attacked Cyrax and Sektor, the two Lin Kuei attacking Scorpion with no avail. Scorpion not only held his own, but used the Lin Kuei's moves against them. Cyrax and Sektor stood on oppostie sides of Scorpion, they both threw a kick. Scorpion disappeared, and the two ultimately kicked each other in the head. Scorpion reappeared and grabbed both his opponents by the head. He bashed them together, knocking them out. "I will have my revenge. But I will not kill Sub-Zero." Scorpion told them. "Will not, or cannot?" Bi-Han's voice said as he approached the specter. "You, my klan is dead because of you." Scorpion said. "To Hell with your klan." Bi-Han said smugly. "No! To hell with you!" Scorpion shouted before grabbing Sub-Zero and dissappearing.
The two reappeared in the Netherrealm, they stood in the pits of Hell and Bi-Han looked around. "The Netherrealm." Bi-Han said. "This is where I was reborn, this is where you will pay." Scorpion told him. Scorpion shot his spear, which went straight through Bi-Han. He pulled Bi-Han close to him and delivered an uppercut. Bi-Han was wounded but kept fighting, he threw an Ice ball at Scorpion which froze his bottom half. Bi-Han started kicking the frozen Scorpion in the face. Scorpion broke free of the melting ice, he made quick work of Sub-Zero. The Lin Kuei fought hard, but Scorpion's fury proved to be too much. After the fight, Scorpion looked at Bi-Han. My family has been avenged." He told Bi-Han. "This is your retribution?" Quan Chi asked Scorpion. "Scorpion kill him." Quan Chi told Scorpion. "I will not, he has been beaten." Scorpion replied. "Have you forgotten?" Quan Chi asked Scorpion in response.
Quan Chi started showing Scorpion a vision of the Lin Kuei murdering the Shirai Ryu, Scorpion was getting furious throughout the vision. "Cease this deception!" Liu Kang's voice said as he appeared. "I told you I would reveal the truths to you after the fight Hanzo, now I will." Liu Kang told Scorpion. Liu Kang showed a vision of the true events, Quan Chi murdering the Shirai Ryu and ultimately Scorpion's family. Scorpion screamed before throwing his spear through Quan Chi, he pulled the sorcerer to him and took off his mask. Underneath was a flaming skull, Scorpion set the sorcerer ablaze before butting Quan Chi's head off with his blade. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Liu Kang all reappeared in Shang Tsung's throne room. Scorpion threw Quan Chi's burned head on the floor, he looked at Bi-Han and bowed. "I apologize." He told Bi-Han. "Accepted Hanzo Hasashi." Bi-Han replied. A mysterious light encompassed Scorpion, he was instantly transformed into his human counterpart again. Master Hanzo Hasashi of the Shirai Ryu, he smiled and looked at Liu Kang. "Go home to your family Hanzo." The Fire God told Hanzo. Hanzo bowed before he disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Cyrax and Sektor approached their ally as Liu Kang healed his wounds.
