The sun's rays shafted through the big windows on the wall of Keefe's room, illuminating the sleeping couple curled in each other's arms on the floor. They cast over Sophie's peaceful face, finally relaxed and nightmare-free. Quietly they stole over Keefe, spreading light over his muscled shoulders honed by battle training, yet gently wrapped around Sophie. The sun seemed not to want to wake them, slowly warming the space around them and curling its rays over their sleeping forms. It seemed to know how much they had been through, individually and together, and how good it was that they had finally reached this time of peace and tranquility and happiness.

…Happiness. That had been sadly hard to reach for Sophie and Keefe, but as the sun lit up their faces, mouths curved into light smiles, it seemed in reach. They'd finally made it to each other, through pining and longing, through Fitz and Sophie's relationship, through Keefe's reckless running away, through pain and PTSD and each one nearly losing the other to death. And somehow, they'd held out.

As Sophie's eyes fluttered open, all the sun's efforts not to wake them in vain, she found the first sight before her of that new day: Keefe's peaceful, happy face, bathed in golden sunlight. What a perfect sight for today: the first whole day of her and Keefe, them against the world.

Keefe woke up to see Sophie gazing joyfully at him. "Morning. Whatcha looking at?" He smirked knowingly at her.

Sophie blushed. She didn't know what to say to convey how happy she was, so she shyly reached for his face and stroked a small hand down his cheek instead, tentatively kissing him. The kiss ended much sooner than Keefe would have liked, so he wrapped his arms around her and squeezed her, so tightly. Only then did he truly realize that Team Foster-Keefe was real. He couldn't be happier.

Sophie and Keefe brushed their teeth and got dressed, tossing pillows at each other and bopping around to music from Sophie's iPod. They ate breakfast and spent the rest of the morning together, sharing kisses occasionally.

Ro and Sandor joined them for lunch. Sandor looked knowingly at Keefe's arm around Sophie's waist, and Ro smirked immediately and asked, "So… any chance you'll be calling me Mighty Warrior Queen this month?"

Keefe glared at her and Sophie blushed. But they were both in such a good mood that he nodded, smirking cheerfully at Sophie. "Yeah, sounds like you won this one…Mighty Warrior Queen."

"Keefe, wanna come over this afternoon?" Sophie asked.

Keefe nodded, quickly swallowing his last bite of sandwich. "You betcha, Foster. You two," he said, nodding towards Ro and Sandor, "better get used to each other's company pretty quickly. There's more of it in your future."

Sandor and Ro sighed. Ro muttered, "I don't know which is more annoying, Sulky Hunkyhair And The Foster Oblivion, or The Great Keephie Lovefest."

Fortunately for her, Sophie and Keefe had already headed upstairs, Keefe's arm slung over Sophie's shoulders, to get ready to go.

That evening, Keefe finally went home, stealing a kiss in the corner before leaping away from Havenfield. Just a few minutes after he left, Edaline knocked on the door of Sophie's room.

"Come in!"

Edaline walked in, finding Sophie lying happily on her flower-petal carpet, hands behind her hand and smiling. "Hey sweetie! I've barely seen you all day," she said, chuckling. "I thought Keefe would never go home."

Sophie laughed. "Yeah, we were having a great time."

Smiling knowingly, Edaline said, "You know, I thought I saw something unexpected when you two were by the Panakes tree."

Sophie sat up, blushing. "What did you see?" she asked carefully.

"I could've sworn I saw him kiss you…" Edaline said, winking.

Sophie fell backwards onto the carpet, covering her face with her hands, but Edaline saw the smile nonetheless.

"So? Are you two dating?"

"Not yet, I think. We've got to give it a little time, especially so soon after Fitz. But yes, we will, soon."

Grady, who had been looking for his womenfolk and just arrived at the door to her room, stepped in the doorway and gaped. "That Boy?"

Sophie smacked her forehead, grinning. "Yes, Dad. Keefe."

"Well… I suppose all I can say is, it sure took you two long enough." He joined his wife and daughter on the carpet, and the three Ruewens burst into a fit of laughter.

"You got me there," chuckled Sophie.
