Well hello there.
Me, starting a new story in the middle of the one I'm working on? It's more likely than you think.
Just a heads-up, this is purely self-indulgent, and I may or may not complete this. We'll see where it goes.
Quick disclaimer: I own absolutely nothing besides my unhealthy obsession with Newsies and a love for Disney movies in general.
Enjoy!
Prologue
It began in a world-changing way. Like many fairytale royals before him, King Theodore Roosevelt made a dramatic choice to marry a commoner. However, unlike the commoners in those other stories, said common woman was rich, and not too far below his station than say a housemaid would have been. The shocking part was the fact that she had three young children with the strangest of names, and that Theodore willingly welcomed those children into the palace along with her.
But Theodore and Medda Larkin, his queen, ruled in harmony for years, without the children causing a single problem. That was, until the day the youngest daughter came of age to be married. Until that point, Theodore and the public had ignored the fact that the two princes were living the lonesome life, mainly because Medda had assured them all that her kids would be ready to marry when necessary. But now ten years had passed since Prince Race, Prince Jack, and Princess Smalls had first received their titles, and there were no marriages or prospects of heirs in sight.
As you may know, heirs have always been a big deal to royalty, and the idea of his kingdom disappearing due to his adoptive children not marrying greatly worried King Theodore. So, despite Medda's insistence that he wait a little longer, he took matters into his own hands. He reached out to the neighboring kingdoms, asked for interest in political alliances, and got two bites.
The first, from the Pulitzer Dynasty, was organized for Prince Jack. King Joseph sent his only daughter Katherine over to marry him, eager to give her the money and influence that would surely come with marrying into the Roosevelt-Larkin Kingdom.
The second response came from the Conlon Dynasty, in the kingdom of Brooklyn. The previous King and Queen Conlon had long since passed away, leaving their son Spot in charge. At twenty, the officials who helped Spot rule thought it was more than time for him to marry, so when they saw Smalls was available, they were eager to accept the offer.
Prince Race, the middle son, was not tasked to make any unions. In all honesty, King Theodore hadn't bothered to find any matches for him, because Race was, well...
He was a lot to handle. No one was going to want to marry him, except maybe some peasant somewhere.
So there the plan was, all set and ready to go. It probably would have worked out as anticipated, if the Princes and Princess weren't capable of thinking for themselves.
And if a new crop of knights hadn't started training in the same time frame as the visits from Princess Katherine and King Spot. That would have helped too.
Don't go anywhere, the first chapter is coming in like ten minutes.
Hang around for it, and leave a review for me, why don'tcha?
