Laura tried to get warm under the blanket in sickbay. She'd asked Doc Cottle for an extra one but he'd given her an attitude about everyone was equal in his sickbay. She had to make due with what she had.

Just as Laura had given up on getting warm and closed her eyes, two arms scooped her out of the bed, blankets and all.

"Bill?" Laura whispered in surprise. "What are you doing?"

"I could hear your teeth chattering all the way in CIC. I'm not sleeping in one of these beds. So I'm breaking you out of here." He held her with one arm while he removed electrodes from her chest. "I unhooked the monitor so the alarms wouldn't sound."

Laura laid her head against his shoulder. Once everything was removed he carried her down the quiet corridors of Galactica.

"Thank you, Bill." Laura whispered.

"Anytime, Laura." He kissed her forehead. His marine opened the hatch once they arrived at Bill's quarter. The marine shut the hatch once they were inside. Bill set her on her feet. "I'll find you something else to wear."

Laura thought about what he'd said and pulled the blankets closer around her so her back side wasn't showing out of the backless gown.

"Can I take a shower first?" she asked hoping a hot shower would help her sleep.

"Of course." Bill nodded headed for his dresser. "I'll leave the clothes on the sink."

She thanked him again before heading to the head.

The hot water felt like a dream on her body. The sickbay showers weren't hot and the soap made her skin feel like sandpaper. She didn't even want to think about what the shampoo had done to her hair making it impossible to comb out.

Bill's soap made her skin feel like a baby's bottom. His shampoo made her hair smooth and shiny.

Laura reminded herself the to hurry. The showers were a luxury she didn't want to take advantage of.

Turning off the water, Laura reached for a towel for the hook on the wall. Folded on the sink was a pair of boxers and a tee shirt.

"Thank you for the clothes." Laura said walking out of the head.

"You're welcome." Bill was turning down the blankets on the rack. "I put an extra blanket on here."

Laura climbed into the rack. She scooted closer to the bulkhead giving Bill room to get in. To her disappointment he walked away toward the couch.

"Bill?" Laura said confused. Bill turned around. "Where are you going?"

"I was going to sleep on the couch."

"No," Laura shook her head and lifted the covers. "That's not how this works between us."

Bill nodded. He stripped down to his tanks and boxers before he climbed into bed with her. Laura laid her head on his chest while his arms wrapped around her. One of his hands rested on her hip while the other held hers on his chest.

"I'm happy you're here." His voice held more emotion then she was use to. He pulled the blankets up around them. "We were so close to losing you."

"I'm here." She squeezed his hand. This must have been why he'd wanted to sleep on the couch. Bill Adams didn't like to show emotions to anyone. "I'm here, Bill. I'm going to fight like hell to stay here."

"I'll be right by your side." He kissed her forehead. "We should get some sleep. Cottle will be looking for you early in the morning."

"Okay." Laura kissed his hand that held hers. "Goodnight, Bill."

"Goodnight, Laura." Laura could feel his tears drop into her hair but chose to ignore it.

Something like that would demolish his pride. Plus, Laura felt like it would cause her own breakdown she'd been avoiding.
