Kate was awoken early the following morning by Sovay climbing on to the bed. Sighing softly, she lifted the covers and Sovay crawled up snuggling under with her back to her mum.

"did you have a bad dream" Kate said softly, running her fingers through Sovay's tangled hair

Sovay nodded snuggling further under the covers and in to her mums embrace

"its okay now" Kate said kissing the top of her head brushing her hair behind her ears

Closing her eyes Kate tried to get back to sleep. Which was easier said than done when she had Sovay lay on her arm and who also had a tendency to kick out in her sleep. Also where one went the other was never far behind so she could have a bet that Aimee would not be far behind her sister.

She was woken again several hours later by both Sovay and Aimee jumping on the bed.

"wake up mummy!" they both giggled

Opening one eye slowly, she looked up at each of them before wrapping her arms around their legs pulling them in to her arms.

"come here you" she grinned tickling them both in the ribs, "tickle monster" she smiled

With them both laughing trying to squirm out of the way Kate lent back against her pillow smiling. "right" she said "time to get ready for school" she smiled

"awww" they moaned

"come on please, it's your first day and you can't be late as that will make mummy late for her first day and her head master is a lot scarer than yours" she said sliding from the bed pulling out two little blue dresses from the little rack she had brought to hang the girl's clothes on.

Two hours later Kate walked through the school gates holding the girls hands. After navigating her way to the main office, she smiled as the friendly receptionist dug out their files sent up from Sydney.

"right so Savoy..."

"its pronounced Sofie" Kate said looking down at Sovay who hated it when her name was pronounced wrong

"sorry" the receptionist smiled "Sovay is in class 3 and Aimee is in Class 4"

"sorry" Kate looked "i was led to believe they would be in the same class for the rest of the year" she said

"it's our policy to split all twins up it gives each child a chance to develop as individual people"

"no, I get that" Kate forced a polite smile it was the one thing she had always made sure of that they were their own individual person. "but we have just moved here from Sydney, they don't know anyone and they are still suffering from their father walking out on them. Is there any way they could be in the same class for the last 6 months of the year?" she sighed

"i can ask but it will more than likely be a no, both classes are pretty full and anyway they will still be able to see each other at break times. In my experience this will do them some good" she smiled

Sighing Kate forced a smile, she hadn't got time to argue about this as she had to get to NAVCOM before 9:30 so she could meet with commanders White and Marshall who oversaw the patrol boats "fine" she said "and what about wrap around, I may need to put them in after school care some days" Kate asked

"of course, if you could fill this form out and we do prefer to know the days at least a week in advance so we know what our numbers are." the receptionist handed her two identical forms

"that isn't always going to be possible with me being in the Navy" she said looking down at the forms.

"it's fine if it is an emergency, we just don't like that happening every day" the receptionist smiled walking round the desk. "right lets show you to your classrooms"

Walking down a long corridor they came to a stop at 2 classrooms opposite each other. All the other children were already in sat down. Knocking on the one on the left first the receptionist smiled.

"good morning Mrs Andrews. This is Sovay McGregor she is the new girl starting today"

Mrs Andrews Smiled "hello Sovay" she said

Sovay smiled looking around the classroom

"this is Lucy, she will be your buddy" Mrs Andrews smiled leading another little girl forward

"hello" Lucy smiled

The receptionist lead Kate and Aimee across the corridor to the other second year classroom. Knocking she opened the door

"Mr Smith this is Aimee McGregor the new girl in your class" she smiled

"ah good morning Miss McGregor I am Mr Smith your teacher and this is Elizabeth she will be your guide"

"hello" Elizabeth smiled "you can sit next to me if you like" she smiled leading Aimee to a table in the corner by the window.

Taking one last look in to each of the classrooms she hoped the girls would be okay separated. In their old school they had been kept together. They already had their own personality's but at least they would have their own friendships.

Looking at her watch she knew she was pushing it to make it to Naval headquarters for 9:30 she just hoped that A traffic wouldn't be that bad and B her Satnav sent her the shortest and fastest route possible.

so hope you like this :D the twins being separated in school is something that is personal to me. i was separated from my own twin in year 2 after we had a new head teacher. i also did my thesis at university on the same subject. hope you like it and i will try and make the next chapter a little longer i just got a little lost with this one.
