Kara - 1

"She said the words, I love you?" Alex was smiling widely, she knew her sister had been struggling with telling Lena the truth, but this was a bit unexpected.

"She did, and I think we're going to be okay." Kara said with a happy sigh of relief.

"That's great news, I think. That other stuff has me worried though." Alex had listened to it all, trying not to let her own prejudices influence the news.

"She told me about it, which means she trusts me again. At least enough to come clean. I know we'll have a lot to work through but we're going on a date tomorrow. A fancy date. She wants to date me." Kara was practically bouncing, and Alex shook her head with a small chuckle. It was good to see her happy. Kara had been so torn up about telling Lena the truth, how it might rip them apart.

"Well, you're not wearing any of my dresses again. Not after the last time." Alex chided, but Kara just gave her the biggest grin.

"That's okay, she gave me one last year that's been sitting in my closet because I'm too afraid of messing it up." Kara glanced towards her closet nervously. She could see the dress with her x-ray vision, carefully hung in a garment bag. She would probably have to get it cleaned before their date. Last thing she needed was to smell musty because she couldn't be bothered to get dry cleaning.

"She has probably wanted to see you wear it since last year." Alex said pointedly, and Kara's eyes flew open.

"You think? Damn, she did say she wanted me to wear it." Kara scrunched up her nose in disappointment with herself.

Alex sighed exaggeratedly, "I'll help you get ready. I have a lunch date with Kelly but I'm free all afternoon."

"Yay, I'll need your help… wait, something's wrong. Lena's heart is beating way too fast. Oh god… Lillian…" Kara was flying in the next heartbeat.

She rarely pushed her speed in the city, not wanting to break the sound barrier and cause damage to the high-rises. Yet in this moment she didn't care, she heard the sound of the gun hammer slamming down, the small explosion as the bullet left the chamber. She could see Lena starting to react, and the bullet started to move. She angled herself so that she would intercept the bullet, not caring in the slightest that it was made of Kryptonite. Yet somehow Lena knew what was happening, and took a step forward towards the bullet. It was far too late to correct given the speeds she was moving, and she entered the room just behind Lena, catching her as the bullet tore into her chest.

Her body instantly went limp in her arms, as Lillian with wild eyes fired again. This time Kara was ready and blasted the bullet with her heat vision. Then melted the gun in Lillian's grip causing her to scream as the superheated metal flowed over her hands like lava. Kara glared at Lillian trying to decide what to do with her, when she felt a hand reach up to her face.

"Kara." Lena whispered horsely, coughing up blood with the single word.

"Don't try to speak." Kara replied helplessly, her body starting to move towards the window to get Lena to a hospital.

"I love… you." Lena said as the light in her eyes dimmed and her heart seized in her chest.

Kara stared into her lifeless emerald eyes and felt something she had never felt before, hate. A rage unlike anything she had ever experienced boiled up inside as her eyes started to glow. Lillian was on her knees in agony, staring at her ruined hands. Kara stood and gently laid Lena down on a nearby couch. Then she flashed across the room and picked Lillian up by her tailored suit jacket.

"You have destroyed everything. I'm done with you." Kara spit out, her lips in a sneer of disgust.

"Then she was wrong about you." Lillian replied, attempting to sound cold and detached, but in truth she was terrified.

"She's gone, along with my heart." Kara said bitterly, letting the power built up in her eyes release, a surge of power incinerating Lillian in seconds until she was nothing but ash. She heard something land behind her, and knew that J'onn would be disappointed.

It was just that she no longer cared.

She took off in a random direction, ignoring J'onn and his calls for her to stop, and just let go of her speed. Pushing and pushing until entire countries were nothing more than a blur. She knew she was causing damage, but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered, because it was happening again. Her entire world had ended in a blink. She couldn't think, she couldn't feel. All that mattered were the words echoing in her head and the image of nothing behind those beautiful eyes.

Then she heard a cry for help, a woman being held at gunpoint. She had no idea where she was, and the cry wasn't in English, but that didn't matter. She dropped down in front of the assailant, who immediately pulled the trigger. The iron slug hitting her and bouncing harmlessly off her skin. She flashed forward and picked him up by one shoulder, dislocating it with a loud pop.

"Bad move." She muttered out with an angry sneer, the terror on his face was similar to the one Lillian wore in her last moment of life. She grabbed the gun and molded it into a lump of metal, then tossed the man against a nearby building with all her strength. Not caring what damage she did to him. She turned towards the terrified girl and motioned for her to run.

"He's dead." A familiar and unwelcome voice said as a pair of boots landed behind her.

"He was trash. I'm done giving trash a second chance." Kara couldn't think about the robber, he was unimportant.

"So you're an executioner now?" Superman said with a dark threatening tone.

"Don't start, Kal, what if it was Earth? What if it was Lois? I've lost them both, my world and my love. What's the point except for helping good people and punishing bad?" Kara said, her mind unable to process what she had done. She had killed two people, and what hurt more than anything was that she didn't feel an iota of guilt.

"If you truly believe that, you are no different from Lex or Lillian." Superman sounded so sad at the thought of treating Kara like an enemy. All Kara could hear was judgment and arrogance. She rushed forward, blindsiding him and pushing him up towards the sky. He tried to fight against her grip, but she pushed on him so hard increasing her speed so that it was nearly impossible to fight against. Then they were pushing out of the edge of the atmosphere, then past the moon where she put on one last burst of speed and let go. Superman tried to stop his momentum but he found himself rocketing towards the sun at a speed that he couldn't break.

Kara lingered in space, almost wishing to let the vacuum take her life as she watched her cousin fight the momentum as the Sun's gravity got the better of him. The look on his face was one of utter confusion and disbelief, as he passed the orbit of Mercury.

"What have I done?" Kara's internal voice screamed as she turned back towards Earth and propelled herself home.

She sat at the top of the Daily Planet sign, waiting for Lois Lane to show up for work. The first rays of dawn climbing above the ocean horizon just beyond the harbor in Metropolis.

"Clark, pick up the damn phone. I know you can hear me, so there's no point in being petulant. I don't care if you're dealing with family shit. We need to talk!" Lois sounded beyond pissed as she got out of a taxi illegally parked in front of the Planet's main entrance. "Fine, call me back when you get this."

Kara descended down in front of her. "Clark's dead." She said without intonation. "I'm sorry for your loss."

"What?" Lois started, shaking her head in disbelief as her legs collapsed from beneath her. Kara looked down at her, feeling something dying inside that wanted to reach out and comfort her. It was the same thing that mourned the death of Kal, and even Lillian. The last of her was that Kara Danvers, the woman that Lena loved.

"Kara, what happened?" Lois pleaded, and Kara just shook her head and turned away. "Kara Danvers, don't you dare turn away from me!" Lois screamed, not caring about her identity anymore.

"Kara Danvers is dead. I am Kara-El, and this planet is now mine to protect." Kara's voice was cold, and Lois stared at her in shock and disbelief as the woman who had once been family turned and disappeared into the sky.
