The following morning Kate woke feeling in absolute bliss rolling over she ran her hand across the space next to her. Opening her eyes, she was surprised and saddened that the space was empty. Leaning back against the pillow sighed he had gone truly as there was no sound from the en suite or the kitchen.
Reaching for her robe she pulled it on tying it around her waist heading in to the kitchen. Opening the cupboards, she tried to remember if she had unpacked the coffee last night. Searching through the kitchen she sighed unable to find the coffee, or the coffee pot. Walking round the other side of the counter she carefully opened the box. Rummaging through she sighed she had found the coffee but her glass coffee pot must be in a different box as this one was mostly the dry food, she had at Nikkis.
Reaching for another box that it could be in Kate sighed. The coffee pot she wanted wasn't in that box so she was unsure of where it could be or if she had maybe left it in the dishwasher at Nikki's. Straightening up she sighed knowing she would have to resort to a cup of tea. it wasn't really that bad as she had brought herself some rather nice teas but first thing, she preferred a coffee.
Standing at the counter she flicked the switch on the kettle before pulling out a box of her Melbourne Breakfast tea form T2 which she was slightly addicted to. It was a black tea that tasted sweet without any sugar added. Looking out the window there was a beautiful view of the water.
Dropping the tea bag into her cup she was just about to add the water when she felt a arm wrap around her waist and another holding a large take-a-way cup which had a strong coffee smell wafting up.
Turning around she smiled seeing Mike stood behind her.
"i wondered where you had got to" she forced a smile "i woke you and you weren't there..."
"i thought that coffee might be warranted since we did stay up quite late and the fact that there is still a lot more unpacking to do" he smiled
"well, your timing is impeccable I was just about to make tea as I can't find my coffee pot" she smiled wrapping her arms around his middle teasing him into a kiss. She knew they had only a few minutes if that before the girls would come running in
"so are you unpacking this lot today" he smiled
"nope it will take forever, and the girls will just send me round the twist" she smiled "no I think i am going to take them to feed the ducks in the park." she smiled wrapping her arms around his neck resting her arms on his shoulders teasing him into a kiss. "you going to come with us. I'll get brekkie on the way"
"how could I say no to that" he said kissing her softly
"right I am going to get dressed" she smiled
She returned 30 minutes later having grabbed a quick shower and changed into a pair of shorts with a braided leather belt and a red t-shirt with a big mini mouse with a glittery bow made with reversible sequins. She carried out a pair of white pumps
"look what I found" Mike smiled as she walked back into the kitchen. He was holding out the coffee pot
"which box was it in?" she asked walking over taking the cup he had just poured her
"that one" he pointed to one of the ones she had just looked in.
"I swear I looked in to that one" she sighed sipping her drink. With it being her second cup of the morning, she could feel the caffeine hit her blood stream and she felt a lot more awake
At that moment both girls came running in.
"What's he doing here?" Aimee asked curiously looking up at Mike
"Aimee don't be so rude" Kate sighed placing 2 glasses of juice on the table In front of them
"its fine. I guess they won't be wanting these" Mike smiled holding up 2 pink doughnuts.
"yeah" both girls jumped up trying to grab them
"Not before breakfast. we will take them to the park" Kate said taking the bag from Mikes hands. "go and get dressed please" Kate said
"aww" both girls said sadly jumping down from the table
Kate smiled watching as they ran towards their rooms. Walking round to the counter she smiled looking up at Mike. "are you trying to bribe my girls with sugar before 10am" she grinned wrapping her arms around his waist
"no comment" he grinned brushing a stray hair from her face teasing her in to a kiss.
Pulling away Kate smiled as Sovay returned in to the kitchen.
"Aimee come on please" Kate sighed packing some things in to a bag. The doughnuts, and some bottles of water because the second they got out the house both girls usually would say they were thirsty
Aimee walked out of her room in her Sleeping Beauty dress and matching plastic shoes from the Disney store.
"Aimee" Kate sighed "we are going to the park, go and put something sensible on please" Kate said
"But Sovay is wearing her dress" Aimee said
Kate looked over at Sovay who was in a little cotton t-shirt dress with a Rapunzel design "Aimee you can't walk around the park in your princess dress" she sighed "let's go get changed now please" Kate said "why don't you put your sleeping beauty top on instead it's in the dresser"
"fine" Aimee said stomping back towards her bedroom, the plastic shoes slipping slightly on the tiles
"Aimee come on Please" Kate called after 10 Minuets walking towards Aimee's room. Leaning against the door she smiled watching Sovay and Mike who were still sat at the table
"are you coming to the park" Sovay looked curiously up at Mike
"if that's okay with you, kiddo" Mike smiled
Tilting her head to one side Sovay thought about it for a moment. "okay" she smiled before jumping down from the table skipping off to sit on the sofa.
Walking over Kate smiled "thanks for that" she whispered teasing him in to a kiss
"for what" Mike smiled
"being amazing with Sovay like that. You know not everyone gets invited to feed the ducks with us" she smiled
10 minutes later Aimee came out in shorts and a Disney princess top with frilly sleeves.
"right off we go then" Kate said picking up her handbag and the bag she had a few snacks in so she didn't have to buy them whilst she was out.
"can we have our doughnuts. We haven't had any breakfast" Aimee pipped up as they were getting in to the car
"that's because we are going to get the food for the duckies and then we will get some brekkie. How do pancakes with Nutella from Maccas sound?" Kate smiled looking in the mirror
"yay" both girls said cheering in the back of the car
Pulling the car off the Drive Kate looked over at Mike who was sat in the passenger seat next to her. To anyone looking in they looked like a normal family. The girls seemed to like him which was the one thing she had been most afraid of. If the girls weren't happy then she didn't know what she would do. However, she still had to tell them the full picture at the moment Mike was just a 'friend' in their eyes. Putting that to the back of her mind she just wanted to enjoy the day out and feeding the ducks.
so really hope you like this. ATM my mind seems to be allowing me to write and my ideas are sticking with me. i think it may have just been lockdown (which we are still in in the uk) but reports seem to be that there is some light at the end of the tunnel but who knows. its been a long 7 weeks and we still have another 2 to go at the minimum
anyway the shoes Aimee is wearing are those really crappy ones that were popular in the 90's/00's. I know now the shoes in the Disney store are amazing (so are some of the dresses) anyway let me know what you think x
