Walking round the playground again to try and see if she could see Sovay. Her mind was going in to overdrive with what could have happened and where Sovay could have gone. The only thing that was going round her mind is Jim had somehow followed them to the park and managed to charm Sovay away from her.
Walking to the far end of the playground she could just see Sovay running around with another little girl with long dark hair.
"Sovay Mae McGregor" Kate said walking over pulling her in to her arms. Squeezing her tight, a wave of both anger and relief washed over. She was fuming that Sovay had done this yet relieved that she hadn't been taken by Jim
"mummy I can't breathe" Sovay said trying to wiggle out of her mum's grasp
"Don't you ever disappear like that again" Kate said pulling Sovay round to look at her gripping in to her shoulders.
"I'm sorry Mommy," Sovay said with tears in her eyes. "i did tell Aimee to tell you"
"no, you didn't "Aimee protested
"yes, I did. I said tell mummy I am playing with Ciera"
"Sovay why didn't you come and tell me yourself?" Kate sighed
"because Aimee was closer and we had to go and save the fairy queen from the evil monster" Sovay said like it was the most obvious thing on earth
"Right" Kate sighed shaking her head "let's go home" looking up. She couldn't see Mike by the table where she had last seen him. She couldn't see him and could just see. It hurt that he had just left especially after what he said.
"what about the milkshake" Aimee said
"we are going home" Kate said taking both girls by the hand.
Arriving home Kate sighed "go to your rooms the both of you"
"but..." Aimee said
"just do it. Sort the rest of your stuff because I know you Aimee Clarice McGregor you have not put all your things away properly" Kate said
Both girls trudged towards their rooms. Sighing softly to herself she was still fuming at Mike for telling her to calm down. but then how could he know what it was like. He only found out about Ryan when the kid was 15 by which point, they are supposedly old enough to know better than to just wander off in a busy park. He never had to go through the worry of not being able to find their Kid. Blinking and they have vanished in to a puff of smoke.
Making herself a drink she sat curled up on the sofa this was not how she wanted her day to end. Hearing a knock at the door, she sighed. Opening the door, she was surprised to Find Nikki
"Nik" she smiled "what are you doing here. Come in" she said
Walking in Nikki turned "what's happened with you and Mike?" she asked
"what?" Kate said walking past her friend in to the kitchen.
"you and Mike what's happened. He came round yesterday to help you with stuff and now today he returns to the ship in a right mood" Nikki said
"oh that" Kate said "Sovay wandered off in the park and he told me to calm down"
"so" Nikki said
"Nik, he told me to calm down, like I had lost a couple of dollars."
"is that it?" Nikki Sighed she knew Kate could be headstrong and stubborn but then again so could Mike
"he told me to calm down, so I did my block and had a go"
"that explains the mood" Nikki sighed " look you should know Mike has kids too"
"what Ryan" Kate turned back to face Nikki "He said himself that he didn't know about Ryan until he was 15"
"no. Not Ryan. When he was with Ursula. She got pregnant, had a daughter. we all thought Mike was the Father and she let him believe it for 2 years and then when she upped and left it all came out she was having an affair with Rick, the guy she ran off with for those 2 years"
"what?" Kate stammered. "its not the same" she said
"maybe not in some ways its worse, you found Sovay and she wasn't far. Mike Lost Arial for good. He loved that little girl and Ursula just took her and disappeared. We found them on his boat which is when Ursula coldly told him he was never Arial's father. That's why he was always moody with us all, he felt betrayed..."
Closing her eyes. "damn" she swore "i told him he didn't know what it was like
"kit" Nikki sighed
"can you watch the girls for me. I need to apologise" she said
"sure. He said he was staying on the ship"
"thanks Nikki" she smiled heading in to her room.
Quickly changing in to her whites she made her way to the docks. After finding Hammersley she sighed before stepping on the gangway.
"can I help you Ma'am" a voice said standing at the top of the gangway.
"um I am looking for Lieutenant commander Flynn" Kate smiled.
"he is in his cabin Ma'am although he is in a foul mood. Do you want me to show you where it is?"
"i think I can find it Petty officer Mulholland" Kate smiled
"Dutchy." he said
"sorry?" Kate said turning to face him
"Sorry Ma'am. They all call me Dutchy"
"Dutchy" Kate smiled before walking towards the hatch
"Ma'am" Dutchy ran after her "the side hatch is easier" he said opening the door for her
"thank you" Kate smiled
"Co's cabin is just up to your left" he smiled
"thank you Petty... Dutchy" she smiled
"good luck" Dutchy Smiled heading back to the boat deck
Stopping outside his cabin she took a deep breath before knocking
"i said no one was to Disturb..." Mike said pulling the door open "Ah Kate" he said
"hi. Can we talk..." she said
