Knock! Knock! Ayo got out of bed and went to the front door. She opened the door to reveal an Anbu standing in the doorway.
"The Hokage wishes to speak to you and your team," the Anbu told Ayo.
"I'll be there as soon as possible," Ayo replied.
Ayo closed the door and quickly got dressed. She joined her students – Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke – in the third Hokage's office.
"I'm sorry to wake you up, but I have an urgent D-rank mission with potential to be a C-rank mission," the Third Hokage explained.
"What's the mission?" Ayo asked.
"The mission is to deliver flu vaccines to our allies, the Genjutsu Tree Village, which is experiencing a flu outbreak and unable to keep up production of the vaccines. The Genjutsu Tree Village is offering us Chili Pepper Bombs and 8000 ryō in exchange for the vaccines. Since Ayo is a former medic-ninja, I thought this mission would be perfect for Ayo and her team."
"I will take this mission."
"You're dismissed."
Ayo took the mission scroll and the scroll containing the vaccines sealed inside from the Third Hokage and led her team into the hallway to talk.
"Since the journey will take us a whole day, we need to pack for several days," Ayo explained. "If you are familiar with sealing stuff in scrolls, I suggest you do that to reduce the weight you are carrying. I will teach you how to dispel genjutsu on our journey to the village. Meet me by the east gates in forty minutes. You're dismissed."
Ayo went straight home and grabbed a bag she already packed in case of being sent on missions with little warning. She placed the scroll containing the vaccines in her bag and sealed that into a different scroll. She grabbed the mission scroll and the second scroll, headed for the east gates, and waited for her students to arrive.
Once everyone arrived, Ayo showed her mission scroll to the guards at the entrance and proceeded towards the Genjutsu Tree Village.
"What is a genjutsu?" Ayo asked.
"Genjutsu uses chakra to produce illusions that affect the mind," Sakura answred.
"Very good. How do you dispel a genjutsu?"
"A victim's chakra flow, if disrupted enough, can break the caster's influence. Pain that is not caused by the genjutsu can bring victims back to their senses. If a caster's vision is obstructed, such as by the Hiding in Mist Technique, that at least prevents the use of ocular genjutsu."
"Very good, Sakura. Possessing a Sharingan renders one largely invulnerable to genjutsu as their acute vision allows them to recognise its flaws and influence. They can also free others from genjutsu by inserting themselves into the opponent's illusion and release it. Also, strong smells, such as those from Chilli Pepper Bombs, can counteract genjutsu. Once we enter the Genjutsu Tree Village, we can practice dispelling genjutsus."
"Why is the Genjutsu Tree Village called that?"
"Good question, Sakura. It is believed that the trees surrounding the village produce neurotoxins which causes these genjutsus."
Ayo and her team stopped for lunch and dinner before continuing their journey.
"We've reached the edge of Genjutsu Tree Village," Ayo announced an hour after dinner. "Remember what we talked about earlier in the day."
Ayo and her students entered the forests surrounding the Genjutsu Tree Village, which was at the center of the forest. She froze when she saw her students being impaled by kunais and immediately dispelled the genjutsu. She turned to Sasuke who awoken his Sharingan and who quickly dispelled the genjutsu he was under. She jabbed Naruto with her elbow thus freeing him from the genjutsu. Sasuke helped free Sakura from her genjutsu and then deactivated his Sharingan.
"I'm proud that you awoken your Sharingan," Ayo said. "May I ask what triggered your Sharingan to be awoken? It's good to talk about it."
"Let's just say a certain someone tried to slaughter my entire clan in my genjutsu," Sasuke answered.
Ayo grimaced. "Until we reach the village, I want Sakura to pair up with Sasuke and Naruto to pair with me."
Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto nodded. Ten minutes later, they saw the buildings which meant the village was nearby.
A young boy with purple hair and light brown eyes greeted them. He wore a maroon-coloured headband around his forehead, a high-collard, long-sleeved green shirt with a dark-green vest over it which reaches down past his waist, held closed by a grey-coloured belt. He also wears a pair dark-coloured pants, and a pair of sandals. He had a small black dot on the middle of his forehead.
"My name is Ayo Watanabe," Ayo introduced herself. "The Third Hokage sent me and my team to deliver the flu vaccines to the Genjutsu Tree Village."
"My name is Tanishi," the purple haired young boy replied. "My dad's the leader. I'll take you to him."
Once Ayo handed the scroll containing the flu vaccines to Tanishi's dad, she was given a pouch containing the 8,000 ryō and a pouch containing the chili pepper bombs. She and her students were allowed to spend the night in the village and left in the morning.
At the end of the day, they returned to Konoha and updated the Third Hokage.
"What do you want us to do with the Chili Pepper Bombs?" Ayo asked.
"You can keep half for your team to use," the Third Hokage answered. "I will like to take the other half and have our scientists research it and try to make more of it. The money is for you to keep."
Ayo nodded and gave half of the chili pepper bombs to the Third Hokage. Once she and her team were dismissed, they gathered in the lobby of the Hokage Tower.
"I'm giving you tomorrow off, so rest up," Ayo announced as she gave 2,000 ryō to each of her students.
