Shopping and New Friends

Severus leads them down to the very end of the alley and into a very ornate building that he informs them is a bank. Apparently one of the times that Klaus was here he opened an account in the bank and Sent Dumbledore the key with one of his letters. So Severus leads them inside and they see goblins running the bank. They stop at a teller and he hands the goblin a key. A few minutes later the goblin comes back out and tells them that only three people can go down. Hope has to go and Severus agrees to be of help so that leaves one spot and they seem to all agree it should be Freya (being the de facto leader of the family). Everyone else is led to a side room to wait while the three follow the goblin to the cart and down to Klaus's vault. They arrive at a fault pretty deep down. Severus unlocks it with Klaus's key and the goblin has theirs. Once opened it's clear to everyone that Klaus was a very rich man. This wasn't anything new to Hope and Freya. Severus was a little surprised and the goblin looked up at these two women with a sense of respect. Hope went around and tried to identify anything she might want that seemed more personal, while Severus did more of a historical check. Freya was talking with the goblin about exchange rates and the pricing rate of Wizard goods. Freya walked out with a few photos and a small painting of her fathers. Severus had cataloged some jewelry and goods to discuss with the family at a later date. Thanks to the goblins' help Freya grabbed enough money for their shopping today. They all get back into the cart and head back up. With a final thank you to the goblin, they rejoin the rest of the family and leave the back. Once outside Severus goes over the things needed today and suggests they split up into a few small groups so they can do everything quicker.

Hope goes with Kol and Davina first to get a wand then they will meet Marcel and Rebekah to get robes. Severus is taking Freya and Keelin to get the rest of Hope's books (and a few extras). Her wand ended up being Dragon heart string in a 13.5 inch inflexible Fir wand. Happy with her new addition to her magic they meet Marcel and Rebekah to be measured as Rebekah has already picked out the fabrics and other things needed. They leave the robe shop and on the way to meeting they pass by what seems to Hope to be a pet shop. Turning to her family they see the look in her eyes and instantly know nothing there is nothing they can do to stop her. Following her in they are bombarded with meows, hoots and woofs from every direction. Hope follows the woofs to the back left of the shop and sees little puppies in a playpen. There is a slight difference in these puppies though. The ends of their tails are forked.

Once she gets closer to the pen all the puppies sense and alpha is near by and look around to find them but seem confused by the humans. Hope changes her eyes and the puppies get excited. Well all but a little one in the back who is just watching with as close to apprehension as a dog can show. This spikes Hopes interest and she walks along the outside of the pen to the pitch black terrier looking dog in the back. He seemed to be in direct contrast to her wolf (as pure white as a wolf can get). The dog looks up at hope and they analyze each other before the dog takes a few steps forward and looks directly into her eyes. This triggers something in Hope's magic and she starts to feel a shift in the air. Without taking her eyes off the dog she reaches down and picks him up. Once in her arms her magic starts to settle and she feels a sense of clam and satisfaction sweep over her. Instantly aware that those feelings aren't hers. She sees the dog seem to nod his head at her confusion and realizes she was feeling his emotions and he felt her confusion. This will require some getting used to for hope. Carrying the puppy over to her family and who she assumes is the owner of this shop.

"I think this is the one for me. It feels right."

The shop owner looks from her to the puppy then to her again and says, "I would hope so sweetie you two have bonded. It would be rather difficult for both of you to leave him here."

"Bonded? Is that why I can feel what he feels and vice versa?" questioned hope.

Again the women looked at hope but this time seemed a little bit of admiration maybe. "You mean you can feel what he feels and him you."

Hope looks at the dog and gets a slight nod from him so answers. "Ya I picked him up the air around us started to feel weird then my magic seemed to shift a little. Once it settled I started to feel relief and satisfaction but they weren't mine. I was personally very confused. I looked at the dog and he sensed my confusion and nodded and smiled at me so I assumed that the other feelings were his. Why is that not what happened?"

"No sweetie that was your dog but animal bands are traditionally that strong right from the beginning. It usually takes a while for such an emotional connection to evolve. It seems that this is new to you and if judging by your accent is correct you are probably from the states." with a nod from the little crew she continues. "So animal bonds happen occasionally here, but for most witches and wizards it takes a while for a bond to root and even longer for such a deep connection to show. It is impressive to say the least. Now I'm sure you have questions. There are a few I will answer now and if anything comes up you can just send me a letter. First and foremost the ability to share emotions is not constant, it is elective. After some practice you and your dog will be able to message each other of sorts with your emotions. In the beginning it will be very overwhelming but the more you do it the easier it will be and eventually it will be like second nature. Second because your connection is so strong he will want to follow you around for a while so it can firmly settle in place. Once that has happened going places alone will be fine. Also because of the rarity of this particular bond I wouldn't go around bragging, strong connections usually connect to strong witches and people may try to take advantage. Finally your dog has been very stubborn while he was here. And he took particular interest in protecting smaller pups. Even going as far as to attack some of the bigger dogs. So he will be a little defensive of you. It also isn't unheard for bonded animals to be larger in size then their unbonded counterparts, so try to be careful with others around him. More for their protection, not his." looking at the girl and the dog she can see understanding in both of their faces and sends them on their way after they pay and get some essentials and toys.

As they are leaving the shop Hope has Her dog on a leash and because she is so focused on her new pet she doesn't see a girl coming her way until it's too late and they pump into each other. She quickly goes to apologize but the other girl was faster.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."

"It's entirely my fault I just got a new puppy and was so excited I was looking where I was walking. I didn't bump you too hard did I?"

"No, I'm okay. Your crup is very cute i completely understand the distraction. What did you name it?"
"I actually haven't named it yet. I just got him and I have to meet back with the rest of my family so we left the shop before I could ask the owner for some suggestions. I'm transferring to Hogwarts and was told that crup's were not common pets so i don't want to give it a new one that will make it stand out anymore then he already will."

"Is that why you are here? To get supplies and robes?"

"That and a wand."

"Oh ya that's right people in states don't always use wands. By the way my name is Daphne. I am a student at Hogwarts."

"It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Hope. Are you also getting you things for this year?"

"I just finished and was wandering around waiting for my sister. So what year are you going into?"

"Professor Snape said I will be in year five. If you're going to ask what house I'll be in I'm not sure. They did mention something about a sorting but I know nothing more than that."

"I'm in year five as well, so now you know someone which is something. The sorting isn't anything to stress about. The school has this weird hat thing that talks to you in your mind and then assigns you to a house based on your more dominant personality traits."

"Okay good i was curious how that was going to work. And it will be nice to know someone who will at least be in my year. Snape and Dumbledore briefly went over what each house was and what they represented and I have absolutely no clue where I would fit best. If you don't mind me asking what house are you in?"

"I'm in Slytherin. It kind of runs in the family. You'll find that happens a lot at Hogwarts. More so than other schools. Tradition is a big thing to families here. So you said you're transferring and judging from the accent you're from the states somewhere. Why are you here?"

"I am from the states, but family has lived all over the place. I am transferring because my parents died recently and my family thought a change of scenery would be good for me. I agreed and my dad knew the headmaster from a while back so he asked for a favor. So here i am." she said matter of factly.

"I'm so sorry about your parents. This place will definitely be a distraction, something always seems to be going on. It's mostly centered on a boy a year below us but it makes every year interesting."

"Sounds like that comes with a story. I would love to ask about it but my brother is gesturing to me that it's time to leave. Maybe we can catch up at school."
"I'll do you one better. I'm assuming your taking the train into school." receiving a nod "why don't we meet up on the platform and ride can ride the train with me and my friends."

"That sounds nice, thank you. Then I'll see you in a few days." with a wave and a nod from each girl they walked off in opposite directions. Hope filled with some excitement for the new school now that she has someone she knows. Daphne heads over to find her sister still thinking about the curious American and wondering where she will fit into the school. And also a little curious about why one of the women with her family looks so familiar.

Hope rejoins the rest of her family and with all of their shopping they say thank you to Snape and head back to the house. Hope thinking of a name for her new crup the whale time and finally think of one that just might work. Back at the house she introduces everyone to the addition to the pack. Jackson.
