Chapter 1- A Need for Nachos

The sun revealed itself, saying hello as it came up behind the towering mountains and sharp-smelling pine trees. A brand new day had come to Earthni once again. It had been about a week and the aftermath of Astroida and her shadow sentinels were still being taken care of. Summer had shown its goodbyes as leaves began to fall to the ground, showing that autumn had arrived. All of the citizens of the land, monsters, mewmans, and humans alike, gathered together to help repair their home. Buildings were being rebuilt, businesses were being remade, and everything was being put back in their places, just as it was before.

Star, Moon, and Eclipsa supervised the repairs, making sure everything was being put back together with the way the citizens wanted it. Both of them were tempted to use their magic. However, due to the fact that all of this destruction was caused by said magic, it was a better idea if they held off on it unless it was absolutely necessary. Star thought that there was another time and place for a sparkle glitter bomb expand.

"Over there's good!...Noooo no not there! There!" Star called out to two monsters within eye distance who were carrying planks of wood. They put it down, crashing it on top of boxes filled with something breakable, making a loud breaking sound. She winced, hearing the noise. "Perfect." She hesitated to say. Although she was happy to do repairs, she was getting exhausted. Managing this many people was hard to do. She let out a sigh as Moon walked over to her.

"You're doing an excellent job, sweetie." Moon told her as she placed a hand on her shoulder. Star placed her hands on her face and rubbed it.

"You think so? I'm seriously getting acting queen flashbacks. I honestly thought all of this would be gone after Earth and Mewni collided." Star replied.

"All of what?" Moon asked her.

"This! You know. The managing, the building….the migraines." Star replied, rubbing her temple as she groaned.

"Changes bring new challenges. I too had to learn that when I was your age. It wasn't pleasant but after it was all done, it felt very uplifting knowing that I've accomplished something." Moon said. She took her hand and lifted Star's chin. "You're handling it just as well as I once did…maybe even better. And once this is all done, I'm sure that you will feel that same sense of accomplishment" Moon added. Star smiled. Suddenly, they both heard a crash coming from a little ways away. They turned at the sound.

"What was that?" Moon asked.

"Sorry!" A boy yelled from a distance.

"Someone who has corn for brains!" Star spoke. They ran to him, seeing Marco with a guilty look on his face as two monsters stood in front of a broken window, appearing very upset.

"Why don't you hold off your magic until everything is fixed, huh?" One of the monsters told him as he started picking up broken pieces of glass on the ground.

"Look, let me just-" Marco said, holding his hands up as they began to glow, lifting a box with his new magical powers.

"Marco!" Star yelled. Marco quickly turned his head, seeing Star with an irritated look.

"Ah! Star!" Marco exclaimed out of surprise. The levitating box suddenly raced towards Star and Moon's direction.

"Duck!" Star yelled as she took her mother and pushed her down to safety. The box flew over their heads and continued to bolt down the street. A few townsfolk yelped and shouted, dodging the box until it hit a nearby traffic light. The traffic light fell from the impact as its lights shattered. Star and Moon stood back up as Star gave him a dirty look. She wasn't happy at all.

"Ooooooookay. Soooo that was a mistake." Marco nervously stated as he pointed to the mess.

"Marco? Do you remember what I told you this morning?" Star asked him.

"...don't….use magic?" Marco said, beginning to sweat a little.

"Yes! And what do you do? Use magic!" Star yelled.

"Okay. Okay. I may have had a little moment of temptation" Marco told her.

"Temptation?" Star asked.

"...the boxes were getting heavy." Marco replied. Star raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh, come on! I've lifted about 20 or so already!" Star let out a breath.

"Mom? Would you mind covering for me for a minute?" Star asked as she walked over to her boyfriend.

"Of course. Looks like you two need to talk anyway." Moon responded as she kissed the top of her daughter's head. Moon turned her head, seeing a monster child carrying an open bucket of paint across the sidewalk. She jumped, worrying it would drip all over the place. "No no no! Let me take that!" Moon exclaimed, running over to the child.

Star took Marco's hand as she guided him somewhere where they could converse in private.

"Listen, Marco. I know that magic can be...you know...tempting...but it isn't a way to get out of hard work. Besides, you're still new to using magic." Star told him.

"Pffft! Whaaaaat? I can handle it just fine!" Marco told her. Star crossed her arms.

"...dude? You almost hit someone in the face with a box of tools." Star told him.

"I promise that wasn't on purpose!" Marco told her. Star dropped her head and shook it in slight disappointment before looking back up at him.

"You know just as well as I do that you don't have enough control of your magic yet." Star told him.

"Yeah, but-" Marco started. "I just thought it would help." Star knew that Marco had good intentions. However, she knew that he didn't understand what the consequences could be if he has a mindset like that.

"...remember how I was when I first came to Earth? How I used magic for literally everything? Well, you taught me about doing things the hard way and...honestly it feels a lot more fulfilling than using magic." Star put a hand on his shoulder. "Trust me. I know what I'm talking about." She finished with a smile. Marco let out a sigh.

"I know. You're right." Marco replied, smiling back. A monster walked past with a bag of ice on his head.

"Am I supposed to feel a pulse through my skull?" The monster spoke, feeling great pain. Star looked back at Marco.

"Just...just hold back on the magic usage, okay? For now. Until we can help you get better control of it." Star pleaded.

"Star!" A voice called from nearby. Star and Marco turned, seeing Mina Loveberry running towards them. She didn't seem happy. In fact, she seemed worried.

"Mina? What's going on?" Star asked.

"Is everything okay?" Marco added.

"We have a situation." Mina replied.

Star and Marco followed Mina to the monster temple, where it seems as if a brawl has broken out. They stopped, noticing that a mob of humans and mewmans were at the wall, filled with aggression and anger. Eclipsa and Globgor were in front of the wall, guarding the entrance from intruders.

"This is an outrage!" A man yelled within the crowd.

"She deserves to be in jail!" A woman added before the whole mob agreed with her, yelling and chanting their 'yeah's and other things.

"Everyone calm down and let me explain!" Eclipsa called out, pleading for the mob to relax.

"We can talk about this calmly!" Globgor added. However, the mob wanted nothing of it.

"There's nothing to explain! We demand justice!" Another man in the crowd spoke loudly. The crowd agreed. Star and Marco ran over to the crowd and began to navigate through them.

"Sorry. Out of the way! Ugh! Move!" Star spoke. Marco came from behind her.

"Excuse me. Pardon me. Thanks. Oh sorry about her. She's uh...passionate. Yeah" Marco politely told the people. Star and Marco ran to Eclipsa and Globgor and faced the mob.

"What is going on here?!" Star asked, demanding an explanation.

"We know you have that evil witch in there!" A woman spoke in anger. Star and Marco became confused. Star and Marco leaned his head towards Eclipsa to whisper in her ear.

"Evil witch?" Marco asked quietly to Eclipsa as Star listened.

"They mean Astroida. They think her magical powers are some type of witch's spells or

something along those lines." Eclipsa told them.

"Ohhhhhh." Star replied softly.

"Hey!" Mina exclaimed, coming out from within the crowd, running to Eclipsa and Globgor. "This is just making everything worse! Come to your senses!"

"Oh, like she's done? We want her to pay for everything she's caused to our town and to our people! How about you all come to your senses!" A man added.

"Yeah!" The crowd agreed in protest. The mob continued to yell and raise their fists in the air. Star made a straight face at them, wishing they could be quiet. She brought her arms in close, turned her body clockwise, and transformed into her butterfly form as she lifted herself in the air. Star spread her arms wide while her wings spread out, showing their yellow and gold detail.

"Cotton Candy Silencer!" Star proclaimed, swinging her arms. A flash of light came from Star's hands, making cotton candy appear in everyone's mouth, quieting the crowd as well as her friends.

"Mmmf fmmfmfm!" Marco muffled. He spit out the cotton candy in his mouth. By the look on his face, it didn't taste so good. "Bleh!" He sounded before looking at Star again. "Hey! You said no magic!" Marco said to her.

"For you, Marco. Not for me." Star told him.

"That's so hypocritical!" Marco responded.

"Hey! What's the deal!?" A woman in the crowd yelled, standing next to her significant other.

"Yeah!" Another man said, holding the cotton candy in his hands. "...this is my least favorite flavor!" The woman facepalmed, pretty embarrassed.

"Um, you weren't letting me finish? A-duh?" Star answered. She breathed in and out, trying her best to keep her calm. "Alright. We know that Astroida caused a lot of damage to the town, but-"

"You think? She destroyed my coffee shop!" A barista shouted.

"She ruined my flower garden!" A gardener added.

"She spit in my ambrosia!" A man with square glasses told her as he held a bowl of old ambrosia salad. He started to tear as he hugged the bowl. "I grew the mandarins myself." Star heard someone sniffing his nose. She turned his head, seeing Marco crying along with him.

"I feel your pain, man." Marco said to him, feeling his chef's heartbreak at a fellow cook's devastation. Star rolled her eyes. She only wished these people could be more compassionate of Astroida. However, Star knew it was going to take a lot to get them to understand.

"Okay! Okay. I get that. But you have to realize that Astroida isn't that same person now. She had her memory erased. She's not a threat to Earthni anymore and you're all going to have to realize that." Star explained.

"She's right. It's not fair to punish someone for committing a crime she doesn't even remember." Eclipsa added, defending her royal friend.

"How do you know she won't turn into the same person she was before? You're not her!" Another man from the crowd exclaimed. Marco suddenly felt as if someone was behind him. He turned to look behind him, seeing Astroida poking her head out from behind the wall entrance. From what Marco could see, Astroida looked pretty distraught. Could he really criticize her for that though? There were dozens upon dozens of people wanting to enact their revenge on her. It could honestly scare anybody. Alas, Marco knew he had to do something to help her feel better. He leaned over to Eclipsa to whisper to her.

"Do you guys have everything under control over here?" Marco asked.

"We can handle it." Eclipsa replied. Marco nodded before running over to the wall and making his way through the entrance. From the other side of it, he looked around for Astroida.

"Astroida? Astroi-" Marco stopped, seeing Astroida to his left. She was looking down at the ground, about ready to end up in tears. Hearing Marco's voice, she turned her head, seeing him standing nearby.

"Oh! Um...sorry. Sorry. I just wanted to know what was going on." Astroida spoke.

"No. No. It's fine. There's no need to be sorry. You have every right to know what's happening out there. I was just coming over to make sure you're okay." Marco said to her.

"Yes! Yes." Astroida told him. Marco put a hand on her shoulder.

"Astroida? I'm your friend. You can tell me if you're upset...because honestly, I wouldn't blame you if you were." Marco reassured her. Astroida frowned, knowing that he realized she wasn't being truthful.

"...I'm so scared. The fact that they're upset with me...for something I can't even remember;...it just hurts." Astroida told him shakily.

"I mean...I could tell you what happened if you want. I don't think you would like it though." Marco started. Astroida held a hand up.

"No. Please don't. It'll haunt me for all my days if you tell me anything." Astroida told Marco. She let out a sigh. "I don't want to turn back into whoever I once was. I'd rather not know for the sake of everyone's protection. I just wish..." Astroida hesitated, trying to hold back her tears. "I just wish that I could make it so everyone can put what I've done aside."

"Then make something good out of yourself. Show them how great of a person you can be." Marco said to her. Astroida let out a chuckle.

"Funny. They seem incredibly hurt. I find it hard to believe that they would even take whatever I do for them out of the goodness of my heart seriously." Astroida chuckled, feeling a lack of hope.

"How do you know if you've never even tried?" Marco asked. Astroida turned away, looking to the ground in a fringe of doubt. Marco tried to think of something that would help her understand what he was trying to say. "...did I ever tell you about my adventures in the neverzone? How I survived on my own for 16 years…fighting for my life a lot of the time, may I add? Well, I had this sword. Aw man, I miss that sword. El Choppo was its name. Its blade was made of pure starlight steel. It handle?; a rare neverzonian gold that bore the carving of a fire-breathing dragon."

"Wow. It sounds beautiful." Astroida commented.

"Oh, she was a beauty alright. Anyway, what I didn't realize was that it was keeping these neverzonian wraiths safe from this fire demon that destroyed their home. They took Nachos and...basically they were furious with me." Marco told her.

"Oh. So...what did you do?" Astroida asked, turning her head slightly to look at him, becoming very interested in his story.

"Well, I gave them the sword back, I got Nachos back and I helped them rebuild their castle for a few months. I made up for what I did." Marco answered.

"A few months? How did Star feel about all of this?" Astroida asked.

"Time passes differently in that dimension. 16 years for me was 8 minutes for her." Marco explained.

"Soooo you're in your thirties?" Astroida asked, wide-eyed.

"Heheh. Well, let's just say I found an excellent form of facial rejuvenation." Marco chuckled. Astroida did the same. She got quiet shortly after.

"But...when you were in the neverzone, you knew how to fix what you did wrong. I don't even know what I did." Astroida told him.

"Doesn't matter. If you can do anything to show that you can earn their trust, then do it. Go with your gut. Prove to them that you're a good person and you're worth being redeemed." Marco smiled. Astroida looked back down to the ground again.

"Hey." Marco spoke. Astroida looked back at him. "If you could earn back the trust of all of us; Star, me, Eclipsa, and the rest of us? You can definitely earn the trust back of everyone else out there." Astroida looked back at him. "I guarantee it." Marco finished.

Astroida took a second before smiling back at him. Suddenly, the gate opened slightly. A cotton candy covered Star came through the entrance.

"So how'd it go- oooooh...yooouuu okay" Marco asked, a little concerned after seeing Star's condition.

"Well...I think I got everything through to them." Star said before grabbing a piece of cotton candy from her hair and taking a bite out of it. She took a glance at Astroida, who seemed to be in a bit of a rut. "You okay, Astroida?" Astroida wiped a tear from her cheek.

"No need to worry. I'm alright. I was just having a bit of anxiety. I'm doing much better." Astroida told her. "You know, you're very lucky to have Marco in your life. He must treat you very well." Star and Marco looked at one another with adoration.

"He's the best I could ever have." Star spoke with a smile. Suddenly, Eclipsa popped her head through the door.

"Star? Can I have a word?" Eclipsa asked.

"Sure." Star told her before Eclipsa walked back out. Star put a hand on Astroida's shoulder. "We'll get through this, okay?" She said with a smile. Astroida smiled.

"I trust you all completely, Star." Astroida replied. Star nodded.

"Let's go Marco." Star told her boyfriend. Marco looked back at Astroida.

"If you need anything, let us know, okay?" Marco asked.

"Of course." Astroida responded as she watched Star and Marco walk through the door. She took a deep breath. "I'm worth redemption." She told herself, looking up at the sky with hope in her eyes.

Star and Marco went over to Eclipsa, wondering what she wanted.

"Alright, Eclipsa. What's up?" Star asked. Eclipsa turned around at the sound of Star's voice.

"Ah, Star! I was hoping you could help me with-" Eclipsa stopped, seeing a frail and exhausted Star in front of her. "Oh...sweetie? Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm just…" Star began to doze off. Her head started to tilt until it reached Marco's shoulder.

"Uhh...Star?" Marco asked, poking her side.

"PANCAKE GLITTER!" Star shouted, waking up from a sudden dream as her head jolted up. Marco stared at her, wide-eyed and surprised by her sudden random outburst. "Oh uh...sorry...what….umm….what were we talking about?" Star wondered, rubbing her eyes.

"Perhaps...you should get some rest, Star." Eclipsa recommended.

"What? But I thought you said you needed help with stuff." Star mentioned.

"Forget what I said. You both have done so much and deserve a day off. I'll take it from here. Don't worry about a thing." Eclipsa told them, putting her hands on one of Star and Marco's shoulders. Star and Marco looked at each other before taking one another's hand.

"...make sure that everyone gets along, okay?" Star asked Eclipsa.

"You've got it." Eclipsa said as she took her hands off their shoulders. "Now, you two take a day to yourselves." Star and Marco smiled at her.

"Thanks." Star replied. Eclipsa let out a happy little sigh, watching the two lovebirds walk away. She turned her head, suddenly seeing a mewman trying to balance a wooden beam on their head. She gasped as she ran to him. "No no no! Don't do that! You could break something!"

The evening had arrived as the busy town ended their busy hours repairing the streets and buildings. Star and Marco were in the living room watching a Y.O.U.T.H.S marathon; something they could stay up for hours on end watching and laughing to. Star laid her head on Marco's shoulder while they resided on the couch, wrapped in a soft, warm, blanket. It had been about 2 hours since they began their TV time. It definitely helped them relax their minds and muscles quite a bit. They were both so thankful Eclipsa had such a strong sense of compassion.

Star and Marco had their eyes glued to the television screen as another episode continued to air.

"But Judy! Limes are acidic! Why'd you eat them?" A character named Donny asked in the show.

"Limes? But I thought they were kiwis!" Judy responded. "Huh. No wonder they tasted like overly sour gummy worms." A laugh track played as Star and Marco giggled right along with it. Marco wiped a happy tear of laughter from his eye.

"Oh, man. Reminds me of the time you thought the food display at the Chinese restaurant was real." Marco chuckled.

"I thought they were free samples! May I remind you that it happened when I first moved to Earth? I thought it was supposed to taste like that!" Star shrugged.

"Star...it tasted like plastic." Marco told her.

"So? I just assumed people on Earth liked that kind of thing." She let out a sigh. "Things were...hah...much simpler back then;...when I first came to Earth. I kind of miss it."

"Yeah. Simpler…if we don't count Ludo trying to take the wand from you, Toffee trying to destroy your family, your mother pushing those reminders to be a good queen...oh and-" Marco stopped, feeling Star's finger on his lips.

"Ah ba ba ba! I don't want reminders." Star told him.

"Gotcha." Marco replied. Star suddenly sat up, looking down as if she was deep in thought. "Hey...you okay?"

"Yeah. It's just that...I thought that because Earth and Mewni collided, things would be easier. I was ready to start a new life; a better life, you know, with you and-" Star hesitated. She let out a breath. "I guess it's just frustrating."

"Well, a new world sometimes means new challenges. Everyone's life has its ups and downs. What you have to keep in your mind are the good things. That's what gets you through it all." Marco told her. He gazed at her, taking his hand and shifting a bit of hair from her face. "Like us." He smiled. Star turned to gaze at Marco. She shed a grin at him before Marco leaned in and gave her a soft kiss. Star took her hands and cupped his face, bringing him closer. They both took in this little moment of pleasure before their lips parted slowly.

"Mmm…" She hummed before they both opened their eyes."I love you." Star said to him.

"And I love you more." Marco replied back. Suddenly, Star's stomach growled. They both looked down at her stomach.

"You know what else I kind of love?" Star asked, looking back up at him.

"Nachos?" Marco asked, doing the same.

"You know me so well." Star said as she let go of Marco's face. Marco took the cover and gently lifted it off of him, standing up.

"Be back in a jiffy." Marco told her before kissing her forehead. He walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the cabinets, taking out a few items; salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and a few other things used to make his famous super awesome nachos. He also went to the refrigerator, grabbing cheese, a half-gallon of whole milk, and salted butter. Marco then brought all of the ingredients to a counter next to the stove.

Marco suddenly stopped for a moment. He looked down, examining his stomach.

He looked left and right before taking his shirt and lifting it, revealing a purplish blackish blotch. Marco took his hand and poked it. It was strange to him. It didn't hurt at all. It was just...there, laying on his stomach. He didn't even feel it. It was like nothing was there when he wasn't paying attention to it. Marco put down his shirt and went to grab a whisk for the nacho cheese. As he turned around, he accidentally knocked over a plate that was sitting on the counter, watching it shatter as it hit the ground.

"You okay in there?" Star asked from in the other room.

"Uhhh...yeah! I'm fine!" Marco told her, acting as if everything was okay.

"Liar." Glossaryk asked, appearing in front of him.

"AH!" Marco jumped. He turned around, seeing Glossaryk floating in front of him. "Glossaryk! Why the heck do you keep coming out of nowhere like that?" Marco asked, a bit irritated at Glossaryk's constant surprise appearances.

"What do you mean? I've been here the whole time." Glossaryk told him.

"Really? So what? You basically spy on people?" Marco asked.

"Define...spying." Glossaryk asked. Marco rolled his eyes as he took out a pot and placed it on the stove. He then took the half-gallon of milk he took out of the fridge and poured it into the pot, along with half a stick of butter, beginning the first steps of making nacho cheese. Marco began to stir it, making it into a roux.

"So...what are you making? Ooo! Is it pudding?" Glossaryk asked, excited.

"No. It's nacho cheese." Marco told him.

"Blegh. Now I'm turned off." Glossaryk replied.

"Well sorry this doesn't please your appetite. This is for Star, anyway." He replied to him. As Marco continued to cook, Glossaryk looked at his stomach, raising an eyebrow.

"You know you're going to have to tell her at some point, don't you?" Glossaryk spoke.

"Uhhhh...what are you talking about?" Marco asked, acting as if nothing bad was going on as he stirred the roux.

"This." Glossaryk said, taking his shirt and lifting it up, revealing a purplish blackish blotch on Marco's stomach.

"Hey!" Marco exclaimed.

"Well now. That's quite a wallop. That warnicorn's horn must've packed a punch. Although it puzzles me as to why the actual stab wound isn't here anymore. Hmmm..." Glossaryk reacted.

"How do you know about-...you know what? Nevermind! Just keep your voice down." Marco whispered sternly, continuing to stir the pot while he pulled his shirt back down.

"Ahhh. So Star doesn't know about this, does she?" Glossaryk asked.

"No...well, not yet." Marco told him as he took a pinch of salt and pepper, delicately sprinkling it into the pot.

"Well, I would tell her soon if you want help fixing it. All that dark magic here might spread if you're not too careful." Glossaryk told him. Marco froze.

"Did...did you say...dark magic?" Marco asked, freaking out a bit on the inside.

"Why, yes. What did you think it was? A bruise?" Glossaryk wondered. Marco stayed silent for a few seconds, wide-eyed.

"...no." He spoke in an accidental high pitch voice, stirring the pot aggressively, trying to hide his embarrassment.

"You did. Didn't you?" Glossaryk smirked. Marco stopped stirring, putting a lid on the pot.

"...maybe. But that's not the point here! You have to tell me how to fix this!" Marco pleaded.

"Me? Pfft. What could I possibly do?" Glossaryk told him.

"Dude. You teach magic to all the queens of Mewni….well, actually you taught magic but-" Marco spoke.

"Marco? Please. Don't remind me of my unemployment. I'm...ah, what do you kids call it…salty?" Glossaryk snapped. Marco's eyes went wide.

"Oh, please. Don't say that. It sounds wrong coming out of you." Marco replied, never wanting to hear Glossaryk say that again.

"Anyway, yes. I do teach magic. I don't create the spells though. The queens do. I teach, well...taught…every queen spells that past queens have taught. Whatever magic I conjure up I just copy off of them. I'm a magical being but I don't know all about magic. Does that make any sense?" Glossaryk explained.

"Ohhhh. That's why you haven't helped us in bad situations…..or it was because you have a lack of empathy?" Marco wondered to himself as he lifted the lid off the pot, smelling the concoction within it.

"Yes." Glossaryk answered. Marco froze with the lid in his hand.

"Hold on. Wait. Which one are you saying yes to?" Marco asked.

"Yes." Glossaryk repeated. Marco glared at him. He hated it when he didn't make sense. Marco put the lid to the pot down on the counter.

"Nevermind." Marco sighed. "So wait. Do you know anything that might be able to help?" Marco asked, hopeful that he knows something that could do some good as he took a package of shredded Mexican cheese, pouring it into the pot, stirring it in.

"Well, I could try a healing spell...if that would make you feel any better." Glossaryk sarcastically mentioned. Marco took the whisk out of the pot and placed it on the counter.

"...yes….it would." Marco replied in annoyance. Glossaryk looked down at his covered stomach. Marco looked down and lifted up his shirt, revealing the blotch once again. Glossaryk took his hands and pulsated them forward. A light shone from his hands, traveling in a powerful beam onto Marco's stomach. The blotch began to glow. Marco could feel the tingle of magical power flowing through it.

Glossaryk grunted for a few seconds before stopping, dropping his hands as the glow diminished. The blotch was still there as it was before.

"Well, I've done all I can do." Glossaryk shrugged.

"Aw man! Hmm...maybe Eclipsa can help me." Marco spoke as he took the whisk and began to stir the nacho cheese again.

"Eclipsa?" Glossaryk asked.

"Yeah! She's the queen of darkness! She knows all there is to know about dark magic." Marco explained.

"So you're going to tell her about this and not Star? Seems wise." Glossaryk spoke sarcastically.

"Look. I have my reasons, okay?" Marco told him.

"Which are what exactly?" Glossaryk wondered. Marco let out a breath before he stopped stirring the nacho cheese. Marco turned the stove on a low heat and put the lid on the pot, allowing the nacho cheese to simmer for a bit. He then turned to Glossaryk, hesitating to speak for a second.

"...Star's been so stressed for such a long time. She just had to help defeat a revenge-seeking queen from the past who caused a lot of damage to the town that she now has to help clean up. She's got a lot on her plate and I just don't want to add to that." Marco told him. He went over to peek in the living room from behind the kitchen wall, watching Star laugh at a joke said on the television. "I...I just want her to be happy."

"Ah. Okay." Glossaryk shrugged. Marco could tell he didn't understand Marco's feelings at the moment.

"Okay. I know you don't understand how I feel because you've never been in a relationship but-" Marco started.

"Who said I've never been in a relationship?" Glossaryk asked.

"Wait...you've been in a rela-...again. Nevermind! It would be worthless explaining this to you. Just listen to me closely. DO NOT blab to Star about any of this. Got it?" Marco told him, all joking aside.

"Well, it's your life. As you said, I have no empathy. So I won't get involved." Glossaryk replied sneeringly. Marco peered his eyes at him

"Dude. Stop being passive-aggressive. Now, if you don't mind, I have a girlfriend who needs company. Thank you." Marco told him before walking out of the kitchen and over to the sofa in the living room. Star glanced over to her side, seeing Marco standing there, happy to be back in the room with her.

"So the cheese is on the stove. Gotta give it a minute to simmer." Marco told her as he sat down next to her.

"I get it. You can't rush perfection." Star responded, looking happily at him before engulfing him in a hug. "Need my heartbeat to relax, huh?" He asked her.

"Yeah. Besides, I like you close to me anyway." Star told him as she hugged him tightly, hearing the calming beats of his heart. Marco took his hand and stroked the top of her head. Glossaryk watched Star and Marco from the kitchen, for once, feeling concerned for the both of them.

"Tell her, Marco...before everything begins falling apart." Glossaryk said.

CHAPTER 2 COMING SOON!
