Chapter 8: The honeymoon?

6th June 2011

The private jet was like nothing she had seen before. From the outside, it looked like any other ordinary plane but on the inside, it was nothing like the others. The plane was spacious and had a fewer seats but that was made up for with the bar and mixologist, flat screen televisions, a pool table, a chess table, a roulette table and other rich and seemingly pointless things that can only keep someone entertained for about five seconds -ten at a stretch.

The air-hostesses had a fancy royal blue uniform on and a cute blue hat adorned on their heads. May thought the outfit was adorable. Though from some angles it reminded her of a bedroom outfit... Was it practical for airhostesses to wear skirts that short?

The plane journey from La Rousse city to Valor Lake Front took a good eight hours, maybe more. Valor Lake Front was known to be a romantic hotspot and only minutes away from the high fashion district of Sinnoh, places that May had vowed to visit in person before she died. The place was famous for its natural beauty and relaxing beaches.

May had to admit that despite travelling in the posh private jet, she was pretty bored. None of the on board activities were either attractive to her or playable to her since they were all made for two and Drew seemed pretty content sitting at the bar drinking.

When May eventually reached her maximum boredom capacity, she took the barstool next to Drew and ordered a cosmopolitan. Being around Paris and her habit of gorging on cocktails rubbed off.

"Fancy plane." May said, trying to start a conversation with Drew. Surely he wouldn't say anything that could come across as harsh when there was someone else that didn't know about their agreement present.

"You get used to it." Drew said casually as he took a sip of his drink. "But I wouldn't expect you to so soon." He added snidely.

May shot him a glare. "You're such a lovely person." She said with sarcastic flash of her teeth before taking the first sip of her cocktail.

Drew laughed as he picked up his glass and inspected it. "Of course I am. But you on the other hand… Every time I think you're an absolute airhead you prove me wrong."

They had barely left Hoenn and May felt insulted already. Only Drew would disguise a compliment in an insult time after time.

"Hey! What do you mean by that?"

"Just when I think you're an airhead for messing up the deal you prove me wrong by getting it back."

"I don't like people doubting me. When I said those shoes weren't mine, I meant it." May said.

"You can say that now but there's no proof to it." Drew said. "What did you say to Paris to make her change her mind?"

May was absolutely sure she wasn't going to tell Drew so she kept it vague by answering with a phrase she's told him before. "Just girl talk." May said.

"Something you're not telling me." Drew said, moving slightly closer to her. "You'll tell me eventually."

"Nope." May said, a small smile working its way onto her lips. She didn't look at Drew but instead kept her eyes tamed on her glass.

But that only made him more curious. "You don't have to say anything and I know it was about me."

May laughed. "I never knew you could get so paranoid." she turned to face him and it was only then did she realise how close to her Drew had moved.

"Not paranoid, just sure." He corrected, his face less than a foot away from hers. May could smell the alcohol laced in his breath. It was intoxicating. Was being on a plane with her for eight hours really that bad that he had to be drunk to survive it?

"What are you planning on doing Drew? We've barely been flying for two hours. Are you planning on flying drunk?" May asked.

Drew smirked. "You'd love that." He teased.

May pulled a disgusted face, causing Drew to laugh.

The difference in time zones really got to May but not to Drew so much. The time in Sinnoh was always a few hours behind the time in Hoenn, Kanto and Jhoto; although the extent of the time difference varied depending on where they are. In this instance, they were now five hours behind in time which meant that it was only just approaching noon.

Drew looked rather awake, probably because the alcohol he drank on board and the over competitiveness of the games he played with May helped him sleep for about an hour or so before the plane landed.

May yawned as they waited in their private car for their luggage and everything to be moved into the back. All May wanted to do on her first day was lie out in the sun or a bed in the hotel, either one was just as good as the other. As long as she had an opportunity to close her eyes, she would be happy.

The private car was rather cosy though. The air conditioning was strong, giving her a nice cool sensation when she stammered onto the cushiony car seat and out of the extremely hot and windless environment surrounding Sunnyshore International Airport.

May slept most of her way to the hotel with her head draped on Drew's shoulder. He didn't seem to mind for a change. For Drew, who was wide awake, the journey passed by quickly, comfortably and (most importantly) peacefully with May.

The window was shut and tinted, blocking out the strong rays of the sun and dimming the scenery outside, making it less painful for Drew's eyes to look outside into the blurry blue sea that seemed to stretched along wherever they were heading to and the trees looked much more greener and livelier here, unlike the ones back home in the city.

Drew had been here several times before, but not once with a girl. He usually came to Pastora on business trips or family trips when his late father was still around and when his mother hung around La Rousse more. At the thought of his parents came a wave of nostalgia surrounding his old life as a child, before he started working and dating. He had to crack a smile at that – things were so simple back then.

After what felt like a long time in the car, May felt a gentle shake, strongest at her shoulders and getting weaker down towards her limbs, which still moved up and down slightly. She opened her eyes to see a pair of deep green eyes staring straight at her sleepy blue ones.

"We're here." Drew said, letting go of May's petite frame once he was certain that she was awake and not going to doze off again.

May's eyes looked out of the car once Drew had gotten out. She couldn't wait to see what place was like in person and not just from the sun-kissed pictures that captured her attention since she was a child. She felt a rush of warm air hit her as she stepped out of the air conditioned car even though they were under shelter, away from the sun's rays; something that May was going to have to get a lot of. She looked at the slick black car's open boot and watched the bell boys move their luggage from the car and onto the luggage cart and hurry inside with them. She looked over to Drew, and noticed him having a chat with some guy. He looked several years older than Drew and carried himself off professionally with his upright posture; shiny gold pens in his pocket at the ready and his red tie did perfectly in a Windsor knot.

He laughed at something Drew had just said - a pretty forced laugh, May thought - and escorted Drew back onto the red carpet where May was standing, waiting for them.

"Now Mr and Mrs Hayden, I'll check you in and personally escort you to you suite. This way please." he said, gesturing for them to walk on the carpet that led them to the door. He scurried forward once the doorman had done his job and led them to the check in desk.

May loved the hotel's lobby design. The ceiling had a three dimensional glass fairy display dangling delicately and lights emitting from somewhere in amongst the elegant array. May was suddenly thankful that she remembered to pack her trusty camera. The lobby desk was long, and stretched on for meters and meters with its well-polished white surfaces and velvet ropes that separated each line.

May chose to stay at this hotel not just for its private beaches or its romantic views but also because of it interior designs that had made it became voted the hotel with the grandest interior design.

She watched as the man and Drew approached her yet again, and directed them to follow him across the vast lobby and to another area with another door and a fancy spiralling staircase that led to somewhere else that May was going to find out sooner or later.

They eventually reached an area with several elevators lined up uniformly, each one with a number plate and a card key slot next to it. They stopped in front of one that said read 'private suite 3' at which the manager pulled out a key and used it to activate the lift which took them directly to their floor.

The lift itself had only five buttons in it: a room floor, the lobby floor, the open door button, the close door button and the emergency button.

May continued to take more mental notes of the elevator design. The floor was carpeted in various shade of red that seemed to blend in and out in no particular pattern; the walls were completely covered by a mirror and the ceiling had a few dimmed downlights, creating an overall romantic air in the elevator.

Once they reached the only floor the lift was capable of taking them to, the pair were met with a luxurious looking room, with deep blue carpets and a panoramic view of the sea and the golden beach at their feet. May could feel her strong desire of just lying out on the scorching sand hit her.

Drew on the other hand wanted to shower and freshen up after an alcohol fuelled flight from La Rousse to Sunnyshore then the car from there to Valor Lake Front. They hadn't been in the scorching heat for long but he was already sticky all over from sweat.

May ushered him into the bathroom and told him to hurry. She did not want to waste time in the room when she could soaking up some sun on the beach sipping whatever caught her attention. It seemed like the perfect holiday, except for the fact that she'd have to wait for Drew and have him agree to go too. Even in another region they could still get photographed by the paparazzi.

May unzipped her suitcase which had been sent to their room before they had even made it by the generously tipped bellboys. She pulled out a selection of bikinis and chose out a yellow and white striped one. She contemplated whether she should quickly change into it or wait until Drew was done in the bathroom, after all, Drew was not her real husband and letting him see her stark naked was not what she needed. Having him see her almost naked was bad enough.

Drew was taking his time in the bathroom. May marched up to the door with her bikini in hand and gave the door a knock. Then another. And finally an impatient bang. She heard some movement from the other side of the door and then a click followed by the sight of the door swinging back.

"You know we're here all week, right?" Drew said as he stood in the doorway, blocking May from entering. "So you can slow down. You have seven days to try and get skin cancer."

"Yes I do know we have all week and no I won't get skin cancer otherwise Paris won't seal the deal." May said triumphantly and tried to brush past Drew. But he did not budge.

"I wouldn't be so stupid as to let you get skin cancer anyway." Drew said which caused May to blush. "You've got a cunning mind. I can use that to my advantage." He finished then walked past May.

May stood there wondering if there was another meaning hidden in there.

So, yes, I realise this was kind of a quiet chapter but the thing is... The honeymoon adventures start in the next few chapters and after that... May...

You'll just have to wait and see what happens to May after the honeymoon! Ha! :P
