Um… hi. I'm back. I looked at the results, and only three people voted. They voted a skip. Sorry, for the people who didn't want a skip- I just don't know what to do. Also, SO sorry for ghosting so long. DoN't AsK.
ResX (Res): Thank you! I hope I did better with the spacings.
hollyfrost666 (Holly): Thanks!
succulentsofa (Lucy): Thank you! I'm glad I did better with this chapter.
Guest: Hehe I hope so! Also, next could you put in a name? I want to tell you and other guests apart.
Okay, onto the chapter. Chapter 7
"Goodbye, guys. May StarClan light your path…" Blackkit mewed. The three days were up, and now it was time to say goodbye. Bramblekit in particular looked wistful. Chirpkit kind of had a weird face that Blackkit couldn't figure out. Eaglekit was… unreadable. His face was blank.
The breeze ruffled the black kit's fur, and her brilliant golden eyes flashed excitedly. FINALLY! I'm six moons old at last! I wonder who my mentor will be! As Sapstar called a meeting, Blackkit gave herself a few licks to the fur, and sat down.
Sapstar looked like a strong, courageous she-cat as she sat on the Fallen Tree. Her yellow eyes gleamed approvingly from where she stood, and she held tall and proud. I'm going to be like that one day. A courageous leader who never backs down.
"Blackkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and your apprenticeship is due. And so from now on, until you achieve your warrior name, you will be known as Blackpaw," Sapstar paused, then meowed on, "Your mentor will be Sparkbounce. I hope Sparkbounce passes all she knows onto you." Sapstar nodded at Sparkbounce, who looked on at her mother in skeptisism and surprise. Despite her daughter's disbelief, the leader nodded. "Clan dismissed."
Blackpaw trotted over to her newly-made mentor, and touched noses with her. She was so excited she felt like squealing. And she did- in the apprentice's den. She decided to pick a nest right by the entrance, where the moonlight shone right on her head. As Blackpaw drifted to a dream-filled, colorful sleep, she took one last look at the Fallen Tree. Where she would be. One day.
She woke up to a paw shaking her up. It was Sparkbounce.
"Hey, I'm going to show you the territory today. Get up soon, okay?" Blackpaw nodded and started to get up. She quickly flattened out her fur and trod out.
The camp was bustling, the leader and deputy discussing something probably small like patrols, elders cracking up about something apparently hilarious, and warriors eating together.
"Alright, eat a mouse and then come meet me outside camp, got it?" Sparkbounce said to her, sky-blue eyes not hiding her excitement. Probably to have an apprentice.
"Got it," Blackpaw mewed before looking for a mouse to eat.
After she ate, she did as she was told and walked out of camp. Unlike other camps, as she walked out it got darker. That's because other camps had sunlight. But LightningClan was smarter. They made their territory in mostly darkness so prey would be an easy find. Blackpaw wasn't exactly used to the darkness, but she would be in a matter of a quarter moon.
Blackpaw noticed Sparkbounce moving forwards, so she followed. Blackpaw's eyes were already adjusting.
"Alright. Despite being used to the dark, LightningClan cats' senses other than sight are enhanced, similar to blind cats. So, sometimes you need to close your eyes. It's sorta like our special power. Trust me," Sparkbounce instructed. Blackpaw closed her eyes. "Okay. I'm going to run away and then try to sneak up somewhere at you. You try to catch me before I get you." Blackpaw closed her eyes in acceptance. Sparkbounce scampered off, disappearing in a matter of seconds.
Blackpaw realized how much closing her eyes did help her. And it would get even better as she got older, too. Focus, she told herself. She heard a slight rustle from her left, and turned a bit. She verged to the opposite direction, banging into... a fluffy wall of fur. Her eyes snapped open in confusion. She'd ran into Sparkbounce, no doubt, but the sound she'd heard earlier...
"Who are you, and what in StarClan are you doing here?" Blackpaw heard Sparkbounce ask.
"SORRY! I- I'm looking for my littermates. They ran off during training over the border." Blackpaw heard a familiar voice mew.
"Bramblekit?"
Soooooo? Was it good? I liked writing it, for sure! I'll post more often now, don't worry. Make sure to review your thoughts!
