"What do you want?"

Aylin was looking around the student's shared kitchen; its size was astounding. "I only really got water and bread. Do you have anything sweet? I haven't had anything sweet in so long…" She could have sighed dreamily when she saw baking utensils tucked away on their dish rack. "Has someone been making cakes?"

"Sato usually leaves some here," Todoroki said, reaching for a breadbin with a small label on it that said, free to a good home! "Here, how's this? Although, you shouldn't really eat sweets before sleeping."

"Thanks, Blue Knees, but I'm sure I'll live. Who is Sato? I'd like to say thank you tomorrow."

"My knees aren't blue. He's the tall one, a yellow costume. Converts sugar into power, so he makes a lot of sweets."

"That's cool. What about you?" She asked, reaching for a thick brownie slice.

"Me?"

"Your… what was it? Quip?"

"Quirk… you really don't know what those are?"

"I can't even remember my own name. I don't know how old I am. Although I'd guess I had about a year on you. Or so."

"Oh. Mine's ice on my right side. Fire on my left. I'm the–"

"The?"

"It doesn't matter, actually. You should sleep soon, I'll see if I can find a spare toothbrush," Todoroki said, heading towards some stairs.

She watched him walk away, chewing slowly. There was a guilt building in her gut for being a burden but it was squashed down further by the brownie, and the muffled sounds of arguing. Aylin followed the sound cautiously to the front door and saw the teacher talking on the phone, his fingertips pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. She tapped the door.

"Your name was Aizawa?"

He moved the phone away from his face. "Yeah. Do you need something else?"

"I'm really sorry to lump myself on you and your students. Is there anything I can do to make things easier?"

"Yeah. Take this call." He thrust the phone in her hands. She struggled to remember how to use it.

"…Hello?"

"Hello! My name is Nezu, I'm the principal. What's your name?"

"Aylin. For now."

"Alright, Aylin-For-Now. Aizawa has filled me in. I'm going to spend some time trying to find out who you are and what may have led to this, and we can reconvene in the morning with a few teachers and the police."

"Am I… in trouble?"

"Probably not. Aizawa said you seem harmless enough, I would just like to warn you against doing anything rash, since you are in a dorm full of hero students."

"I understand. I'll try and be as helpful as I can. I don't have a phone, though, so…"

"No trouble at all. We'll discuss it more in the morning, in the meantime I'd suggest resting some more. I've asked our security members to head on over there, both to protect you and well, protect against you. It's not personal."

"I know. Thanks."

"You're very polite."

"Thanks…"

Aizawa took the phone out of her hands. "We're hanging up now. Okay," he said into the phone. "I'm calling the police next, but you can worry about that tomorrow. Borrow some clothes off one of the girls in the morning and find me then. Please don't do anything rash."

"I won't. Why do so many people think I will?"

"Do you know what The League is?"

"No."

"Better for you, probably," he shrugged. Then pointing over her shoulder added, "Todoroki is looking for you."

"Oh. Thank you." She slipped back into the building as he slunk away, stopping briefly to chat to someone who then stood at the door, stoic and unflinchingly. "Hi Blue Knees, sorry."

"My knees aren't blue. Here's a toothbrush. And I grabbed a blanket and pillow for you while you were out there."

"Also!" A new voice piped up. "I brought you clothes for tomorrow. My room is right above the door, I heard what Aizawa told you." Ponytail Girl explained, handing over a long sleeve shirt and some plain black trousers.

"Thank you. Everyone here is so kind. What's your name?"

"Momo." She smiled.

"We're calling me Aylin. I almost feel like an adopted cat." Aylin giggled, rubbing the collar of the shirt gently.

"Don't worry," Momo said lightly, turning to leave. "We'll take good care of you!"

"Thank you!" Aylin called.

Todoroki reappeared, holding out the toothbrush. "I set up the couch. The bathrooms are just down the corridor here. Most of us get up at about 6AM, so I'll be going to bed now."

"Okay. Thank you, Blue Knees. I'm sorry you have to take care of me like this."

"They're not blue," he said, turning away. "And it's alright."

Aylin used their bathroom sparingly, afraid that she would affect their bills somehow, but when it came to trying to sleep she found herself fresh out of luck. Todoroki had pushed two couches together for her and left her a glass of water. The bandages and any stains she may have left were gone, but the memory of it stung newer with each blink. More memories were fighting their way forward in her mind with that same biting sting as she found scars over her body.

When she did sleep it was restless, inconsistent. Her dreams were viciously vague: snapshots of people she didn't recognise, voices she didn't know. And then there was him: "Midoriya" – he'd never told her his name when she knew him, but it wasn't exactly as if she needed to know. She'd never expected to. She always thought he'd kill her.

A girl with pink skin poked her awake at 5:30 in the morning. "Hey!" She chirped when Aylin finally opened her eyes. "I wanted to wake you before Mineta got to you. I think you've been through enough without that on top."

"Who?"

"He's like our pet pervert."

"Oh. Gross."

"Yeah. You should change now before he tries to break down the bathroom door."

"Yikes." Aylin shuddered, but she did: Momo's clothes on her were a little tight, but fit well enough. "Does this look okay?"

Pink Girl laughed. "Yes! Looks nice! Oh, what's your name? I know you said you'd forgotten, but I thought…"

"We decided to call me Aylin. For now. Yours?"

"Mina!"

"Hi, Mina. Does everyone get up at six? I wanted to thank… um… Sato. I ate a brownie."

"Oh! Those brownies are so good, aren't they? He'll be up super soon. Todoroki also, probably. What did you call him?"

Aylin breathed a laugh. "Blue Knees."

Mina laughed, then pulled her into the kitchen for breakfast. "What time do your classes start if you're all getting up so early?" Aylin asked, stopping short of the sweet-filled bread bin.

"Earlier than should be legally permissible."

People filed into the kitchen slowly, enticed by smells and the promise of good cooking. Aylin said her thank you to Sato and watched everyone bounce with remarkable energy for the time it was. She met the pervert, and wished she hadn't.

"Hello," Todoroki said, simply. "Did you sleep okay?"

"Okay, yeah. Thank you for making the couches up for me."

"No problem. I'll walk with you today since we're meant to go straight to the teachers."

Aylin's stomach twisted with nerves and suddenly the smell of Mina's cooking made her nauseous. "Yeah."

"Have you remembered anything else?" Todoroki asked, pulling a bag up over his shoulder.

"No. Nothing good, at least."

"Sorry."

Aylin said nothing, but lightly itched at a scar she'd found on the top of her right thigh. Momo's trousers were an expensive-feeling fabric, but they managed to rub her skin in an unfortunate direction. She had realised she'd been used to rags, or hay.

"I was thinking," Todoroki added, after an awkward clearing of his throat, "You… looked familiar to me. But I didn't want to overwhelm you."

"I'm sorry, Blue Knees, but I don't recognise you."

"That's alright. But I was wondering if you'd recognise this face?" He showed her a picture on his phone – so many phones, she thought – of a woman with white hair, and a man who was on fire.

"Is he dead?" She asked, stricken. "He's on fire in this picture?"

"That's just how he looks."

"Wow. Um, sorry, but no."

Todoroki shrugged. "That's okay. I just thought it might help. We should go."

Aylin stood, nervously. "Is the boy in your class? Midoriya?"

"He is. But he skipped breakfast and left already. I don't think the teachers will have you sit in, so you'll be okay."

"Okay. Thank you. Sorry again for–"

"You don't have to apologise for anything, it's alright, I told you. Are you ready to leave?"

Aylin nodded, following Todoroki out of the kitchen and away into the street. Her blood was still in the cracks in the cement on the steps, but the strips of her old shirt had been collected and thrown away. She was terrified of the day ahead of her.
