1 DAY LATER

So there was literally not much to do after that fight between the two waterbenders. But some major things happened after that. Pakku decided to teach Katara the art, becoming one of the top students in his class wrecking her opponents during training.

Ryan wasn't able to find a way out of the tribe, mainly because the boats were reserved for the war efforts and not for civilian transport. Meanwhile, DAVE was studying the lives of the locals to get more knowledge on this new world, it's what the eyebot was built for, it was his purpose. Everybody in the city was talking about the floating toaster spying and eavesdropping on people.

Remember the two that ran off after the fight? Well it turned out the guy was Katara's older brother, Sokka, and the white-haired girl was the princess of the tribe, Yue, who was having love issues since she was betrothed to some other person.

The two otherworlders were strolling in the streets chatting getting to know each other a bit better.

"So. What did you do when you were all alone down in the vault," Ryan asked.

"Well I didn't actually do anything but think. I questioned the meaning of life and why we're all here.I ran some calculations on if there's something beyond everything, if there's a God, if there's actually purpose to all of this. It's still taking time to work out. I've been working on it since I gained a conscious," DAVE listed. Ryan wasn't really interested in it, back home he was too busy surviving and caring about his safety as well as his friends and loved ones. To him life was just about surviving through hell until you die. But it would be nice to hear somebody else's opinion that's based on science and logic, rather than religious nonsense.

"What did you find? Actually don't tell me, don't want spoilers." They continued walking across the city. Ryan was playing 'The Red Menace' on his pip-boy. He quietly cursed every time he failed. The wastelander sucked at video games, just played them when there was absolutely nothing to do.

DAVE looked at Ryan's Pip-Boy and asked, "Are you a vault dweller?"

"No. Why?"

"Your Pip-Boy. They're only available for dwellers."

"This old thing? It belonged to one of my grandfathers. Passed down for generations, my dad gave it to me when I was little."

"Oh so it's a family thing."

All of a sudden, it started snowing. But this wasn't snow, it was black. Everybody around them looked in awe.

"What the hell is happening?" Ryan queried.

DAVE scanned the black substance, he replied, "It's soot. The source of it is unknown, judging by the technology we've currently seen it's hard to tell where it's coming from. Highest probability: Steam Ship."

"Well. If that's true then there's a lot of them." They both knew something bad was going to happen.

War drums raged in the city calling most of the population into the main hall. The inside of the building was huge, the architecture of the place was magnificent. The whole place was largely crowded, lots of them murmured to each other about what was happening. A man at the front of the hall entered standing between what looked like Yue and Pakku. Ryan asked DAVE, "Who's this guy?"

"That's Chief Arnook," the eyebot replied, "Leader of this tribe." In the distance, the chief spoke about how war was upon them and how there will be faces within the crowd they won't see again. The fire nation was about to invade, it was hard for the wastelander to think that a world in such good conditions could be in a war. But war was human nature, doesn't matter what conditions people live in there will still and always be war. "So. What are you going to do?"

"What I've done since I was 11. Help out those in need."

(I don't fully remember the whole speech) "I call upon the ocean and moon spirits to aid us in the upcoming battle. I have a very dangerous task but will need volunteers," Arnook spoke. Out of nowhere, what looked like Sokka went up first. The chief painted his face with a dark mark. Others followed on.

"Aren't you going?" Asked DAVE.

"That's probably a suicide mission, I'll help when the enemy reaches the shores."

"Fair enough."

Moments later, everybody left the hall to the safety of their homes. Some were preparing for the battle, others were already prepared on the front line. Down the stairs of the hall, the Californian equipped his headgear. His toaster companion just hovered doing nothing. Katara and Aang walked by.

"Ryan? You're fighting too?" Katara asked.

"Yes I'm fighting. This tribe saved me from freezing to death, so I might as well prevent them from... burning to death," he said awkwardly, "I'm not very good at these lines."

"That's noble of you. But what weapons are you using?" The airbender asked.

Ryan held out his shotgun, "This."

"What's that?" Katara asked.

"It's a shotgun," he replied.

"What does it do?"

"It's a ranged weapon, fires 12. gauge rounds, effective against an enemy at close range," DAVE explained, "I'm fighting too."

"And what's your weapon?"

"My laser penis! It can disintegrate an enemy into dust from any range at all at max power!"

The wastelander looked at the eyebot, "That's not gonna become a thing will it?"

"Already is." DAVE replied. Ryan cursed under his breath.

Ryan and DAVE were with Aang and some of the soldiers at the front wall. The troopers were in a defensive stance ready for any attack. The sour smell of industry was close, they could almost see an armada of warships in the distance. Ryan had some experience with war, it was in his blood. He had been part of a few skirmishes. But this was totally different, this was all out combat.

"I see 47 warships 2000 yards," DAVE stated, "They're made from steel."

Suddenly, multiple fireballs shot from ahead. One clashed into the centre of the wall crippling the structure and blowing everybody off their feet, except for the eyebot. He hovered away like it was nothing.

The wastelander was on the ground, DAVE hovered over to him and asked, "Ryan, are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine," He replied roughly, "Just a few scratches."

Another fireball flew over their heads and crashed into the city.

"Stay here," said DAVE. He flew off to the ocean.

He got onto the deck of a ship where in front of him were a ton of soldiers and sailors working with a wooden catapult, "Surpirse motherf**kers!" He actually bleeped himself.

Some of the soldiers and crew noticed him, one of them tried to shout "Intru-" But before he finished he was instantly vaporised turning him to ash. After that there were many who tried to fight him, none of them survived. The dust was all that remained of the once human beings.

Aang arrived on the same ship, "DAVE? What are you doing here?"

"I'm taking down the catapults. I'm guessing you're doing the same."

"Yeah but the catapult seems to be in working order. Where's the crew?"

"Gone, reduced to atoms."

"You killed them?" He asked in a bit of fear.

"Can't use a catapult if there's nobody to use it."

Aang was creeped out and a bit scared, he took out a glider with orange wings and flew off. DAVE hovered off wreaking havoc to a few other ships annihilating their crews, screams of agony could be heard from the distance, until he eventually overheated his gun, his 'laser penis' takes a while to cool (he was at max power) so it was a good time to get back to land.

Meanwhile back on land, Ryan walked around waiting for his toaster companion to come back. Aang flew onto the ground with his glider. He was exhausted, couldn't even move properly.

"You alright?" The Californian asked.

"No... I can't do it... there's just too many of them," he uttered out of breath, "I thought you were fighting."

"Uhh no. I can't fight if the enemy is at sea and not on land."

Yue and Katara ran over to them. "Is he alright?!" Katara asked worriedly.

"He tired but he's okay," Ryan replied.

"I can't do it, I must've taken out a dozen of those ships but there's just too many of them."

"But you're the Avatar. You have to," Yue mentioned.

"I'm just one kid against a fleet of warships," said Aang hopelessly.

"You didn't happen to see DAVE did you? I'm wondering where he is," said the wastelander.

"He was killing everybody on the ships, there weren't even any remains of the bodies. I didn't expect him to be a killer."

DAVE flew back out of nowhere. "Well my gun overheated," he said.

"Aang told me you were killing the crews of those ships back there," said the Californian, "Good job."

"Thanks."

"You're fine with this?!" Aang questioned shockingly.

"Of course I'm fine with this. I understand that you're a kid and all thinking that killing is wrong but this is war, Aang. People die. You're just going to have to deal with this," Ryan explained.

"I guess you're right."

"Can I ask you something?" said Ryan confused, there was a small lemur-like animal by his side which he somehow hadn't noticed before.

"What is it?"

"What's that?" Ryan pointed at the weird creature.

"That's Momo," Katara replied, "He's our lemur."

"Yeah, why does it have bat wings? At least I think that's what bat wings look like." Everybody looked at him weirdly. "What?"

MANY HOURS LATER

The whole group were on a large balcony, Ryan had his rebreather off. Everybody gazed at the bright moonlight which glimmered across the land and sea. Makes people forget there's a war going on despite the faint sounds of battles afar. It's times like this when wastelanders enjoy the little things, a time where they forget the horrors of their life and what their world has become.

"It's said that the moon was the first water bender," Yue stated , "It could push and pull the oceans, it taught our people how to use the ability."

"Hey, Yue right? I'm not disrespecting your beliefs or anything but the moon is just a rock floating in space, not really a living thing. The only reason it moves the waves is because of gravity, I'm just going to let DAVE explain this physics was never my strong suit," said Ryan. Everybody looked at him in 'almost' disbelief.

"Gladly. It's simple really, as the moon revolves around the world the oceans are pulled slightly because of the moon's gravitational wave," The eyebot explained.

"That doesn't make any sense," said Katara.

"Yeah well you're not the 200 year old flying toaster with a laser penis and high intelligence are you?" He sneered. The Californian was already sick of this 'Laser Penis' fiasco.

"What?" The locals spoke in unison.

"You know what? Nevermind," the eyebot finished.

After the explanation for nothing, Aang got hit with a sudden burst of inspiration, "Why don't we ask the spirits to help us?" Ryan facepalmed, these people were really screwed. Asking for supernatural beings to help? What a waste!

"How do we reach them?" Katara queried.

"Yes. How exactly are we going to tamper with the supernatural," Ryan scoffed.

Yue joined and said, "I want to show you something." She turned around, there was a wooden hatch on the wall.

"Where are we going?" Ryan asked.

"The most spiritual place in the north pole." She opened the hatch. Everybody's eyes widened to what they saw, there was a verdant garden surrounded by towering ice walls. Aang was ecstatic to see grass. Katara commented on how warm the air was and took off her coat.

"DAVE can you explain what this place is?" Ryan spoke still in awe of the sight.

"It's an anomaly, showing similar readings to the objects back in the vault, it's almost impossible to explain this. But this is definitely supernatural," he remarked. In the middle was a pond, two fish in black and white swam in circles.

"Just when I thought this place couldn't get stranger enough. But this place kinda reminds me of Vault 22."

"I doubt that vault would be anything like this. It's only been known for plant experiments," the eyebot stated.

"What? No! Vault 22 is an overgrown garden in the middle of the desert. There's plant zombies everywhere in there, I was lucky to have gotten out of there alive."

"Vault 22 failed it's operation? Christ, now I'm glad I'm not alone. How many other vaults failed?"

"Too many to count. Vault 47 had it's air filtration system break down so radiation turned everybody into feral ghouls," he remarked, "I've visited let's say, 8 vaults and there's an awful lot of stories behind them. The only inhabitants were ferals, other mutants or they were just plain empty."

DAVE wondered how humanity had failed in the safety of the vaults as bad as the outside. Ryan claimed he visited 8 vaults, all which failed. He concluded that despite all of their efforts, the species was truly doomed.

Meanwhile, Aang tried to meditate. But everybody blabbering around him distracted him. "Hey what do you think Aang's doing?" Ryan asked.

"He's meditating, what do you think?!" DAVE scoffed.

"Is that what meditating looks like?"

"Can everybody shut up! I'm trying to meditate here!" The Avatar bursted.

"Sorry," Everybody said in unison.

All of a sudden, the child's tattoos and eyes started to glow a light as bright as an atomic explosion. Everybody's eyes widened. DAVE scanned Aang trying to get a bit more intel on him, it Yue asked worridley, "Should we get help?"

"It's fine. I can protect him," Katara replied. At that moment, a person around Ryan's age walked into the garden. He was definitely not from around here, he was wearing clothing as white as snow, he had black hair except they formed a ponytail at the bag of his head, the eyes were golden as if fires raged inside him, the large scar around his eye told a long tragic story. Ryan turned around to see only to get punched in the face with a flaming fist knocking him unconscious. DAVE experienced the same fate, he couldn't use his gun, when the eyebot tried nothing came out.

"Bugger." DAVE said.

The person smashed the toaster giving him a large dent and also shutting them down. Katara and Yue witnessed what just happened, the Chief's daughter ran off to get help. Katara went into a defensive stance.

"You'll regret that, Zuko," she warned.

"Make me," Zuko replied.

The elements of water and fire clashed. The two sent waves of elements against each other, Katara used many advanced moves against Zuko encasing the firebender in ice. He struggled inside trying to get out. The intruder's strength increased melting his ice cell freeing him of the freezing captivity. All of a sudden, he shot a fireball at her knocking the girl onto a gate rendering her unconscious.

As he stood over Katara's motionless form, he stated, "You rise from the moon. I rise from the sun." He grabbed Aang's almost lifeless body, and retreated into the pole's harsh wilderness.

It had already been a while since Zuko escaped the oasis. Katara fortunately regained consciousness, her head ached. She could barely remember what happened, until it clicked, "Aang!" Where was the Avatar? "Zuko," she scowled. The waterbender looked over at the other unconscious people near the entrance. Katara ran over to the Californian's stationary body. "Ryan, come on wake up."

The wastelander's eyes slowly opened. "What the hell happened?" He weakly asked.

"Ryan, your face," Katara mentioned.

"What about it?"

"I'm sorry but you've gotten a scar."

Ryan touched his face, his left side felt rough. It looked almost as bad as Zuko's scar. "Ahh, s**t. My old scar was enough! Hold on where's DAVE?" He looked at his side, his lifeless companion laid on the grass. He was damaged but the toaster was tough. He survived travelling dimensions and falling over 2000ft. Ryan picked him up examining the damage.

"Will he be okay?" Katara asked.

"Well some of his servos look fried, some of his cables are sticking out, the weapon is damaged but easily fixable. But it seems some of the circuits are damaged so he'll have pieces of memory corrupted. But the damage can be fixed but I'll have to do it later. Overall he'll be okay but he'll forget some things," Ryan ranted. The wastelander did what he did back in the clinic, turn him off and on again. The eyebot started to reboot

"That was easy," said Katara. "How do you know all this stuff?"

"You'll be surprised how easy engineering is for an eyebot. I get a lot of information from reading magazines."

"Alright, where are you from? Don't lie to me with apple cranberries or whatever you said. Where are you actually from?"

Ryan looked at her, he didn't think it was time to reveal it, "I'll tell you later. Who was the guy that knocked me out?"

"His name's Zuko. We've had a... history."

"He was your ex who turned evil?"

"No! He's just been hunting Aang to bring him back to the fire nation! He's got him right now!"

"Crap. Let's go find the guy!"

All of a sudden, DAVE turned back on. "Hello," the floating toaster looked at the two, "What did I miss?"
