Chapter Twenty One:
Frozen in place, I watched a Newt charge Thomas, before being counted and strown aside.
"It's me," Thomas repeated as Newt howled once more charging Thomas. This time I jetted forward to make him miss, by shoving into but he elbowed me in the temple rushing Thomas still.
"Newt!" I cried out tackling him to ground, pinning him in place. But Newt had this abnormally strength and with a knee to my crouch, his nails driving into my chest.. He thrashed and frenzied in panic before driving his skull into my with all his might which began to knock the consciousness from my head. My grip loosened and she squirmed free to pursue Thomas.
I laid their stunned and helpless. Watching as him and Thomas fought. The pair rolled along the ground for some time. I was coming too when I heard a ping of humanity come Newt's mouth. I almost didn't want to believe it.
"Tommy Kill me!" He pleeded before becoming enraged once more.
"Thomas don't." I cried out trying to get up.
Newt had Thomas on the floor, as he tried chopping down on him like a Crank. I tried getting out of my daze as I stumble to stand.
"I'm sorry Tommy, I'm sorry Tommy." Newt said with whatever bits of humanity remained in him.
"It's okay." Thomas panted. All before Newt undid the holster to Thomas pistol bringing it to his own head.
"Newt! I forcefully shouted out to him in desperation.
"No!" Thomas shouted frantically knocking it from his hand. I quickly got my footing stabled enough to do something stupid.
Before Newt thought to react, I sprinted over and kicked the gun far from his reach collapsing to my knees from the pain.
Newt growled out a mighty wail as I got back up. Newt was now leaning over Thomas un-sheathing a long a thought he began to press downward. Thomas was faster and did his best repelling him from plunging it.
I ran over almost nearly jumping on his back, trying my hardest to pull him away. "That's enough Newt!" I whimpered out. Newt quickly retracted and slashed me across my chin. Just barely missing my throat. I winched backwards. Soon after the knife began digging into Thomas chest. He let out painful scream, before breaking free and punching Newt a ways away.
Blood bubbles and trickles out slowly as if I nicked myself shaving. But this point adrenaline was surging across my body and I felt nothing of the ways of pain. I was high on endorphins at this point.
Newt on a rampage began hacking and slashing witj Thomas evading it all. Right before reaching him in arms length for the kill. The two embrace another and Thomas face said it all i needed to know. I slowly inched over close enough to break them apart. But didn't make it in time.
Newt slowly began collapsing to the floor while Thomas held him sternly on his lap. I slid over to find that, Newt had turned the blade on himself. As he was finally rested on the ground.
"No, no." Thomas bellowed.
"Newt, please don't leave me!" I screamed out in anguish, shaking his still body hoping life was still there.. Slowly I buried my face in his chest, tears bursting out as a swell of emotions. Each tear took over my ability to think coherently. "Newt I love you, how are you expecting me to go on living without you?" I said frantically shaking him, gasping behind each word.
Thomas and I sat in dreadful silence, crying our eyes out. Newt gaze was permanently stuck up to the night sky. Blank and still. Neither of us had any words left. It was done. Newt was gone. We've failed him in the end.
Brenda slowly made her way over to us, she was too late. The look on her eyes knew that. Slowly he turned to face her. Thomas stood up and pick up the pistol, exchange small with Brenda teary eyes. I sat beside Newt, my hand still in his. I took one look at Thomas and knew what he planned on doing.
I slowly closed Newt's eye's before kissing him for the last time on his forehead. Tears staining his face. I slowly began to say my finally farewell to him.
"I'll look after Thomas. Please make sure you place Newt somewhere nice, he'd want that." I told Brenda, taking the safety off my pistol and ran catching up with Thomas a block over.
Thomas remained quite as we walked through the hell outside not caring what went on around us. Both of our minds had became desensitized to the war.
It was quite walk heading back to WICKED headquarters. A long one at that but neither one of us mind. We didn't mind about anything. Newt was dead and despite our valiant efforts in the end he decided he'd end himself on his terms, rather letting the Flare us his body to kill us.
"This is probably our last adventure. When things do go bad, which they will. I'm glad it was at your side."
"Ross, if it's anyone I had to pick to walk into hell with, I'm happy it's you." He returned the sentiment. "But you've done enough for. I want you to head back and keep the others safe."
"No way. We started this together and we will end this together.
"Even If I kill your mother?" He asked.
"Ava Paige maybe my mother, but she was never my mom. So no, do as you see fit." I confessed.
That being said, we shortly arrived. Making our way through the slightly damaged and abandoned head quarters. Each step was treaded carefully moving onward. Slightly unaware what dangers might present themselves for the shadows.
Yet the two of us made absolutely place for fear in our hearts. For although condemning ourselves to WICKED. There was nothing left to worry about now. Thomas and I knew, no matter how this ends. It would be done with discarded morale restraints. No conscious thoughts, no mercy to spare. Tonight blood will rain down on this burning city. And I'm for one have my eyes laser focused on one man, Janson!
A/N: Newt, poor Newt. No matter how much this was a slight AU, it was always going to come to this. Rest now my sweet prince. We're heading to the finale chapter's. Do bare with me as I flesh them out.
