Chapter Twenty-four Q&A:
1: What will the continuation look like?: Like five more medium length stories which have been worked on and revised since writing Maze Runner.
2: Where are you be drawing the inspiration to do this?: I'm about to reread Death Cure and spin that into what'll be the basis of the next book. The others are thought up by me, having a few tie-ins with Kill Order and Fever Code.
3: Why was, Death Cure taking a nose dive towards the end?: Having to solely use the movie as the plot, it limited me. I gave myself a handicap because the novel is completely different then how the movie portrayed. I was in love with the Last City. I had subplots written but eventually removed them to not mess with the movies flow. I also use most of the deleted scenes of the movie in the plot. They honestly were to good to pass up. Not sure why they even cut them.
4: Did Ross actually grow up in the Last City as stated?: Yes… But not definitively as something I wanted to write didn't come to fruition. I had a homecoming scene of him returning to a childhood house, which would of given the epilogue more footing to stand on it's own. But I will say that it will make a appearance in the next book.
5: Is the Flare alive and how are it and Ross connected?: Yes and no. The Flare is a virus and they tend to evolve and adapt over time. Short answer he was born with it. It still has role to play and don't wanna spoil anything. If Immune humans are born as a counter balance, Flare born carriers are the virus response to the Immune. But you'll learn about what happen to the other carriers at a later point. For Ross, having his mind swiped and various surgeries performed on in flashbacks, have been successful of isolating the Flare from his psyche. Hence them needing to be whole again. Mental blocks were put in place to keep the Flare from taking control over his body. For now… Also the Flare is sentient but it still ties into his mental image as visions and voices.
6: Wait WICKED is still active?: Why wouldn't they be?
7: What about Group C, how does their role play out in future event's: With the freedom to write at my pleasure, they will have many roles and be a part of the end of the series. As well as many others.
8: How will the series end?" I can't reveal much, but the last book while have three endings. A choose your route type of conclusion. It will be something fantastic. I will tell you now, as a treat. The three endings consist of, The Good Ending, The Bad Ending, The True Ending. I want the readers to have the ending they want to go with. So yeah… But that's likely year's from now.
9: When do you think you'll be finished?: I wanna say 2026 the latest.
10: Newt and Ross, how was that going to work?" Funny thing that, on Twitter of December last year. James Dashner commented he always felt that Newt was Gay. So yeah, words from the author himself. Ross is more so Bisexual but yeah it's a touchy topic. So I'll leave it there, cause Newt's dead. Right…?
11: Who the hell is Pandora? You'll have to find out now won't you?
12: Do you have names for the other book's." Well yeah, but some of them are a work in progress.
Fun-fact: If you've been reading from the start, you'll remember Orwell. He was Ross's roommate and the person who "died" fighting the Grievers, too secure everyone's escape from the Maze. But was also found to be hooked up to a harvester in Scorch Trials.
13: So why did Orwell name get carved into the stone?: Honestly we haven't no clue what happen to the harvested and when they came across the body's there was no way, to free them without killing them. So yes in a sense he is dead.
14: Will you run wild with the Flare connection?: Look there not going to be this big epic science fiction thing going on. It'll be grounded in reality and the the law of the world. But he will have something interesting that'll he'll unlock later on. It's plausible I promise.
Fun-fact: It's believed that some places on Earth evaded the worse of Solar Flares and they are few and between.
15: What's next?: Hmm… Spoiler… A time skip, won't say how long…
