Chapter 14

After Sesshomaru and Kohaku had their long awaited discussion, Kohaku formally asked the demon lord to court his daughter, Rin with the intention of marrying her. The stoic demon lord accepted under the condition he does not hurt her, betray her or lie to her. With that, Rin was summoned to the study.

"Keep your eyes closed Rin." as Kagome and Mikazuki guided her with blind folds on into the study. Kagome, her pup and Sesshomaru sat by the fireplace as her blinds were moved. She saw them looking at her until Kagome pointed to look behind her with a smile on her face.

Slowly turning around, there stood Kohaku with a bouquet of wildflowers in his hand and Kirara next to him. Rin squealed in delight and hugged him tightly.

Hearing her papa clear his voice, she broke away from their hold. Kirara went and jumped into Kagome's arms as she cuddled her. Mikazuki was entranced by the little nekomata that he patted her head softly and she jumped on him purring affectionately. The little pup giggled in delight with his new friend.

"I came as soon as I got your message. I tried to be here for your ceremony but I missed it. I am sorry Rin." as he handed her the flowers. He then took out a small pouch and gave it to her.

"I know it is not much but I got this for you."as he smiled and rubbed the back of his head.

Rin opened the pouch and took out a rare rainbow colored smooth stone. "This is beautiful! Thank you Kohaku!"

"I found it and polished it. I want to place it on a necklace so you can always wear it."

"I'd love that!"

"It is almost time for lunch. Kohaku, why don't you and Rin take a walk in the garden until it's time to eat? Kirara can stay here if she likes." as she scratched the nekomata ear.

"Sure I'd be happy to. Let's go Rin. Kirara, be a good girl." as they left the study walking towards the garden.

"Why are you watching me like that miko?" sounding annoyed.

"Thank you for listening to Rin and giving them an opportunity to court." as she gave him a peck on his cheek. "I'm going to check on lunch. Can Mikazuki stay with you until I return?"

"There is no need to ask such things. The pup will stay with me." As he picked up a scroll trying to ignore her.

"I'll be back soon Mikazuki. I want you to be good and stay with Kirara." as she happily went on her way.

Kagome finished taking her evening bath and was getting ready for bed when she looked in the mirror to comb her hair and saw the bite mark on her neck.

Gasping in shock, she got mad and went to the demon lord bedroom chambers. She didn't even notice she only had in her short thigh length pink nightie when she banged on his door.

"This better be good for disturbing me" as he growled opening the door.

Kagome pushed her way into his room "care to explain this" pointing to her neck.

Sesshomaru started to laugh "only now you notice it." as walked over to her.

"Yes only now! What the hell is this!" she spoke angrily and her hands on her hip.

"Miko, did you look at yourself before coming into my bed chambers?" Eyeing her from head to toe.

Looking down at herself "oh my god!" as she made a run for the door but he blocked her and held her close to him.

He didn't loosen his grip and began to smell her hair and neck "that is a mark indicating no one is to approach you or else they will be dealt with death by this one."

Her face turned red "you did not get my permission to put that there. Remove it!"

"You asked this one what I want in return for helping you, so I want you my feisty vixen." As he picked her up and dropped her on his bed. Her nightie slipped exposed her bare breast.

"You want me as much as I want you. Look at how you appear before me." Inching closer to her with his eyes flashed red then back to amber.

Kagome pulled the fur blankets over herself "wait a minute! I didn't mean to come in here like this, I was mad at you. I'm leaving! I'll forget about this if you let me go!" as she tried to push him away but was unsuccessful as he pulled away the fur and he spread her legs open with his leg hovering over her.

As he was leaning in to kiss her, thats when her scent changed to fear. Sesshomaru backed off and covered her. He stood up and walked over to his balcony picking up his wine glass looking outside "you should leave because I won't be able to hold back. Next time, you should wear something more appropriate if you do not wish for me to touch you. The mark is temporary and will eventually disappear."

Kagome scrambled to her feet wrapped in the furs. She walked over to the door and looked over to his back facing her "I'm sorry for barging in...like this. I wish you would have told me how you felt instead of doing this...Good night my lord." closing the door gently behind her.

Sesshomaru crushed his wine glass in his bare hand "what the hell was that! I almost lost control and my beast was almost successful in taking her!" He growled. "Damn you beast!"

Kagome ran back to her room and closed the door behind her. She looked over at her son still fast asleep. She slid down behind the door and began to cry "what the hell just happened! He did not seem like himself! Does he really want me in that way? Why couldn't he tell me instead of marking me, like I'm property?"
