Chapter 15

The next morning over breakfast, everyone noticed the quiet and tension in the air between the lord and miko. No one spoke and ate quietly until Sesshomaru stood up "Miko, see me in the study when you are finished feeding the pup. Haruka, take the pup with you in the dojo and begin his training." as he walked off before getting an answer.

"Kagome, is everything ok? Papa is upset and you're very quiet." Rin whispered.

"Don't worry about it. Spend the day with Kohaku since he's leaving tomorrow. Ok?" then she turned to her son "my son, be good with Haruka." As she got up and kissed his head. "Thank you Haruka." making her way to the study.

"No trouble at all my lady." as he stood up to take the pup to the dojo. "This doesn't look like it will end well" as the captain bowed and left with the pup in his arms.

"It will be alright Rin. Do you want to take a ride on Kirara with me? I saw a field filled flowers with a spring not too far from here." as he took Rin's hand into his.

"I hope so. When papa is mad like that, everyone needs to stay clear. Let's go and we can be back in time for lunch." as Rin smiled. "Come on Kirara!" as the nekomata pounced happily behind them.

Kagome knocked on the study door.

"Enter" he barked.

She was taken back by his rough voice.

She entered "I'm here as you requested, my lord." standing by the door.

"Come and sit."

They both sat in silence.

"Miko, this one is apologizing for last night. My behavior was uncalled for."

"I too am sorry. I should have been dressed properly before I came to your room." Looking at her hands in her lap "can you tell me why you placed this mark?"

"It was a mistake. It will go away in a day or two. Forget this happened."

Kagome eyes filled with tears "Why are you like this Sesshomaru? You say one thing then do one thing and then want me to forget about it. Have you ever considered my feelings...for you?"

"What are your feelings for this one miko?" With his unemotional voice and stoic face.

"I like you very much. After all these years, we were able to become friends. I even thought you liked me as well." as she wiped away her tears. "When I feel your touch, it calls out to me. Don't you feel the same way?"

"No, I do not. All I see is potential in the pup and want to groom him as a leader for my western lands. In order to do that, I needed to keep you around. Even if it meant flirting or touching you." he looked unemotional to her.

Kagome got up "I see. I will take my leave. I don't wish to further make you feel you should keep me around or touch me just for your selfish gain." as she bowed and left.

'You fool! I told you to not let her leave! Get her back!'

'She will come back on her own. Leave her be...for now."

'No she won't. If she leaves she will never come back!'

'It's your damn fault trying to take over! Of course she's mad at me!' as he growled at his beast making him retreat with guilt.

Sesshomaru tuned out his beast. He actually feared she would leave him for good but with his cockiness, he thought she would forget about it and resume as they were. He was falling in love with her but didn't know how to tell her. Just as his beast said he is a fool.

Sesshomaru didn't join his pack for dinner that night as he did not want to face Kagome as yet. He knew he had to fix things between them.

"Kohaku, I'd like to return to the village with you tomorrow. Can we go with you?" Kagome asked as they walked in the garden.

"You don't need to ask Lady Kagome. Of course you can but what about the lord. Won't he be upset you're leaving?"

"No he won't. I need to live my own life and take care of my son. When I return to the village, I will be leaving. I need to find my own way." as she placed a hand on his shoulder "please do not tell anyone of my plans including Sesshomaru. I will speak with Rin."

"If you're sure you know what you're doing, I'll help you."

"Thank you. I'm going to put Mikazuki to sleep and pack up. Spend some time with Rin." as she walked back to the dining hall to take her son to bed.

"Kagome are you sure you won't stay? I wanted to continue to study under you." With tears in Rin's eyes.

"For right now, I need to do this for Mikazuki and myself. I found out that things are not what they seemed with your father. Once I am settled, I will send word to you where I am at." as she hugged Rin. "Please do not say anything to Sesshomaru about my plans."

Rin cried that she was being left behind and alone once more. She hugged Kagome and Mikazuki. "Kohaku please take care of mama and my little brother." as she gave him a hug.

"I will. Please don't cry Rin. I shall return in a month to see before I head back to training." Wiping away her tears.

The trio climbed on Kirara and took off into the dusk. With Kirara's speed, they should be at the village within 2 days by flying and then the following day, Kagome will be able to leave the village with her son to search for a new home.

Kagome sadly looked at the western palace as they flew away while her son held onto her tightly with sadness in his eyes.
