Chapter 16

"Rin where is the miko and pup?"

"They left papa." Not looking at him.

"Where did they go?"

"I don't know. They just left."

"Rin you are upsetting me. Where are they?" feeling agitated.

"Papa I don't know! You made them leave! You hurt mama and made her cry!" she yelled with tears flowing. "I finally had my family...you, mama and my little brother but you chased them away!" as she ran off to her room.

'You fool! I told you! Now go get her back!'

Sesshomaru took off on his cloud towards the village. He knew they had a head start and would arrive before him.

The trio reached the village quicker time than expected. Kohaku helped Kagome take the sleeping pup to her hut and tucked him in. He stayed with him until Kagome returned from speaking with Kaede and Sango.

Kagome returned shortly after to her hut when Kohaku made a fire and Kirara was snuggled up next to Mikazuki as they both slept.

"Lady Kagome are you sure about this? I mean the lord can be stubborn and not fully understand emotions. I've seen it for myself. Once he realizes he was wrong, he will apologize and try to fix things."

"I don't want to fix things. He played with my emotions and only wants my son for his selfish gain. I thought since I returned from my time, he and I have become friends and he helped me thru my grief with Inuyasha's death. I feel like I'm grieving all over again." as Kagome cried. "It's better if I leave and make a life for my son the best that I can."

"Do you love Lord Sesshomaru?"

Sniffling "yes I do. I think I've always had love for him from when we all came together to join in defeating Naruku"

"Why don't you tell him? He doesn't fully understand emotions so maybe that's why he did things the way he knows how. Weren't you the one to encourage him to talk to Rin so he could understand her feelings? If you didn't do that, Rin would have married off by now. Please just think about it before you make a final decision." Kohaku picked up his sleeping nekomata and went to his sister's house.

Kagome sat looking at the fire thinking about what Kohaku told her. 'Maybe I was too quick to leave. I should have talked to him and explained my feelings. Mikazuki has grown attached to him as well. I'm sure he misses Sesshomaru as I do.'

The miko noticed the fire dying and was out of wood. She quietly got up and went to get some wood outside when she felt a presence coming towards her. Turning around, she saw Sesshomaru standing in front of her. His amber eyes were rimmed red. His face was stoic and cold.

Gulping slowly "g-g-good evening my lord."

"Why did you leave this one miko?" Watching her frozen form.

"I don't want to talk about it...not right now. I'm tired and my son is asleep." Picking up the wood and walking right past him to her hut.

Sesshomaru gritted his teeth at her stubbornness. He then turned and followed her.

Kagome stopped in front of her hut "why are you following me?" without turning around.

"Making sure you do not run away again with the pup."

Feeling frustrated, she turned to him "I did not run away. I came back home with my son. We agreed if I was not comfortable with how it's going, I'd take over except I don't need you or your guidance anymore."

Sesshomaru's beast was getting desperate and was trying to take over but he pushed it back once more.

As Kagome turned to go into the hut, Sesshomaru grabbed her from behind and held her. He buried his face into her hair and neck. Kagome stood frozen feeling her heart heavy but confused.

"Can we talk in the morning? I am tired. You may stay in my hut but please do not touch me again." pulling away and going into the hut.

Sesshomaru took a while to gain control of himself before going into the hut. He saw Kagome as she just finished changing into a soft cotton yukata and was rolling out her futon. The demon lord took off his armor, boots and leaned his swords on the wall. He then sat down and watched Kagome's movements. After a while, she fell asleep. The demon lord moved closer to her and laid besides her wanting her near him. He too drifted asleep from being tired,getting to the village and fighting his beast.
