Chapter 17

The next morning Mikazuki awoke to find his mama and his alpha sleeping peacefully with him. He silently crawled in between them and cuddled into their warmth as he drifted off to sleep once more.

Kagome awoke feeling her son cuddled into her chest fast asleep but she was wrapped up protectivly in Sesshomaru's arms. She didn't move as both of them looked so peaceful sleeping.

'I'll give it a try and tell him how I feel. Hopefully, he can open up and tell me his feelings.' as she absentmindedly brushed his hair out of his face and then gently touched his facial stripes. 'It's so soft and warm.' She leaned over a placed a soft kiss on his lips but he awoken soon after. Kagome felt her face turned red in embarrassment.

His amber eyes met blue eyes as he awoken. He smelled arousal and embarrassment off of the miko in front of him. He pulled her in closer and kissed her forehead causing her to blush redder.

"Before you say anything, I am sorry Kagome. I was wrong to tell you to forget what happened. I didn't mean to get aggressive with you. I've been fighting with my beast. We both want you but he was impatient while I wanted to take my time. Please give me a chance to prove myself to you. Don't leave me and don't take our son away."

Kagome was shocked by the words she heard and emotions felt. She gently touched his cheek "how long have you felt like this for me?"

"From the first day I saw you. I didn't want to harm you but my brother made his claim on you so I behaved badly towards you in the past. That night before the final battle when we sat alone by the fire after Inuyasha went after that dead miko, I kissed you not because you were sad. I kissed you because I wanted you to know that I loved you and would never leave you. When you disappeared, my heart broke. I tried to live my life and I just couldn't. I kept coming back to this village hoping you would return just like my brother kept waiting for you."

Kagome listened as Sesshomaru poured his heart out.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect my brother that night. It was a plan to distract me away from my brother so the oni killed him. I sought revenge and wiped out the entire oni clan. I told the others not to talk about Inuyasha or the details of his death as I know it would hurt you, if you ever did return. He and I had finally made amends and I wanted him to take his rightful place in the western lands but he refused. He dutifully waited for you every day. I failed my brother."

"Sesshomaru, you didn't fail him. You did what you felt was right and protected him the best you could. You got revenge for him. I know it can never bring him back but he's resting peacefully watching over you with your father."

"Kagome, this pup carries the spirit of Inuyasha. When I smelled him, I couldn't place his scent but it was familiar. After a while, it dawned on me. This hanyou pup is my brother's reincarnation. His birth lines up about the same time when he died. He behaves just like he did when he was his age. His determination and strength is exactly like his. Never waivering. Inuyasha didn't speak for a while after father died. I looked over him from a distance as my father wanted but I couldn't bring myself to care for him because of the hate I felt when father mated with a human. All that changed after I met you and took in Rin. This is my second chance to do what is right."

Kagome looked at Sesshomaru wide eyed as she processed everything he said.

"Is this why I'm drawn to Mikazuki? Because of Inuyasha's soul within him?" as she looked at the sleeping pup between them.

"Yes. That is why I'm drawn to him as well."

"This is a lot to process. I have to do what is right for him. If this is all true, I don't want you to be apart from him either. He's our miracle that brought us together." As a tear rolled down her face.

"Will you give me the chance to love you?"

"Only if you would let me love you back."

They leaned in for a kiss when they heard a little voice "momma, papa" followed by giggles.

Sesshomaru and Kagome looked between them at the smiling pup who finally spoke. They embraced him and was happy to finally hear his voice.

"Papa! Mama! Are you here?" as Rin entered the hut. She cried tears of joy seeing them together with the pup sandwiched between them. She then threw herself in between and they embraced her as well.

"Rin-ni" was heard from the pup as he popped his head up to see his sister.

"Zuki! You spoke my name!" As she squealed in delight. She picked up the boy and hugged him tightly.

"Rin how did you get here?" as Sesshomaru sat up and helped Kagome up.

"I followed right after you on Ah-Un. I wasn't going to let my family fall apart!"

"Where's Jaken?" Kagome asked.

"He's outside with Ah-Un getting him some food and water. He couldn't stay behind either!"

"What's gonna happen now? I mean with the two of you?" Rin questioned with Zuki sitting on her lap.

"Your papa and I will start seeing each other, like courting and focus on our little family. Then we will get married or mated when the time is right."

"Will you and our son come back to the palace?" Sesshomaru looked at her with hope filled eyes.

"Yes we would but I want to take care of things here first then we will make our official move." as she took his hand into her own "under the condition that you're beast behaves himself and not rush things."

Sesshomaru laughed at the request "I can't promise he would listen but I will try my best to keep him in line."

"Come my family, let's get breakfast and make plans for our lives together." as Sesshomaru stood up then helped his love on her feet. They hugged each feeling the happiness of uniting their little family.
