Nick pulled Ellie to a small hallway, careful as not to be seen by coworkers. Luckily most employees were on their lunch break and aside from a few stragglers, Ellie and Nick were alone.
"Nick.." Ellie stared
"Something's going on, you've been avoiding me all day." Nick huffed
Ellie looked around and leaned in closer "I have not been ignoring you, plus you're the one being weird."
"Oh please, even Mcgee noticed something was off-" Nick stopped realizing what he had said.
Ellie raised her eyebrow "Wait. You were talking to Mcgee about me?!" Ellie yelled, nostrils flaring. "Wait. you didn't tell him about.." Ellie noticed the change in Nick's face and buried her face in her hands. "NICK!" she screamed, catching the faces of their fellow employees who had returned from lunch.
Nick noticed everyone staring and in a hushed voice said "Look Ellie, can we talk about this later."
Ellie looked him straight in the eye and turned on the heel of her foot, marching out of the hallway and into the bullpen. She was mad. And not a little mad, like when the vending machine was out of her favorite chips, she was full on steaming mad.
Ellie marched all the way down into Kasie's lab, hoping to avoid working near Nick. She approached Kasie's office and watched as Kasie examined a small piece of cloth.
"Hey Kase, what you got?" Ellie asked leaning over her workspace.
"Small piece of what appears to be some sort of clothing." "We found it snagged on a metal pipe at the crime scene." Kasie looked up for just a moment, but enough time to notice her coworkers flaming stare.
"Ellie you good.." She asked backing away slowly
"You ever notice how Nick can be such a douchebag, it's like one minute oh everythings fine and the next it's like oh Ellie you're ignoring me, blah blah blah." Ellie went on, portraying what Kasie guessed was her impression of Nick.
Kasie almost physically rolled her eyes. Of course it's Nick she thought. By now Kasie had caught on to this little thing between Nick and Ellie, and she had learned first hand how the two could push each other's buttons.
Ellie was rambling on and on and didn't notice her phone lighting up with Gibbs' caller ID.
"Bishop.." Kasie said, pointing at the screen
Ellie stopped and picked up the phone, hitting the speaker button so both her and Kasie could hear.
"Bishop, grab Torres and get down here.. We got a lead." Gibb's voice echoed through the room.
Ellie ended the call and still mad she grabbed her phone and exited the room, leaving Kasie to continue her work in peace.
