Gibbs returned to the room, Ellie just behind him, head down, watching her feet shuffle through the halls.
"Bishop you ok?" The teams heads shot up from their work when they heard the two come in.
"Fine." Bishop replied, keeping her answer short and simple. She stole a small glance in Nick's direction and they met each other, their eyes doing a little dance before breaking away. Unknowingly they both smiled to themselves.
When the team arrived back at the office Bishop practically crouched down and kissed the floor. Finally some stable ground she thought. She peered over her computer and found a bag of chips laying on her desk. Ketchup and Prons. Her favorite. She looked up and smiled in Nick's direction. Simultaneously, he looked up and a playful smile cursed his lips. She popped open the bag of chips and crunched down happily. Kasie walked up just as Mcgee proposed a round of drinks.
"Only if you're buying." Jimmy smirked.
"Deal." Mcgee sighed, defeated. "You guys in?" Mcgee asked, gesturing to the remaining of the team.
Torres and Kasie nodded eagerly and even Gibbs approved of the idea. Suddenly Ellie felt pressured to say yes, knowing that if she declined they would know something was up. Feeling like she would much rather be home, she accepted.
"Great." Mcgee chirped
The team was making their way to the elevator chatting about the day's case.
"Bishop, my car broke down, mind if I carpool?" Nick asked
"Sure"
"I'm surprised you want to go to a bar." Nick spoke " By the way, how do you plan on not drinking alcohol in a bar without the team noticing?" The car hummed quietly.
A mischievous smile slid onto Ellie's face as she turned to face her partner. She raised an eyebrow and bit her lip, smirking.
"Oh no, don't you give me that look." he panicked, watching her classic Ellie face. "I'm not slurping down shots for you all night."
"Pleaseeeee" she begged flirtatiously.
After taking one look at her he broke "Ugh fine, you win." Nick scoffed, knowing the painful hangover that would curse him the next morning.
They pulled up to the bar, seeing the other's cars already in the lot. Ellie shut off the engine and carefully climbed out of the car.
The bell on the door jingled as they walked in, instantly spotting their friends, with two orders of tequila shots. Nick groaned. Tonight was going to be a long night.
Three shots and Nick was already at his drunk babbling stage. Ellie watched him, clearly entertained. Mcgee bent over the bar and loudly ordered another round. They all reached for the shots, Ellie grabbed hers and pretended to drink it and then passed it to Nick who slurped it down. At this point the rest of the team was too drunk to notice. Buzzed, Nick yelled, and made his way to the dance floor, Kasie, Jimmy, and Mcgee following him.
Gibbs scooted closer to Ellie, smirking at the younger agents.
"You're not drunk either huh?" Gibbs asked, swirling a scotch around in his hand.
Right. She thought, he's Gibbs, he doesn't get drunk.
"Nope, remember, alcohol has virtually no effect on me." This was true, Ellie made a great deal of flaunting her immunity to alcohol amongst her friends.
Over on the dance floor, their coworkers had begun a round of self started karaoke, catching the looks of everyone else in the bar. Ellie giggled and exchanged looks with Gibbs.
That's how the night went on, Ellie and Gibbs at the bar, talking and exchanging occasional looks regarding their fellow agents behaviour on the dance floor. Until it was time to leave and the two sober agents helped Nick, Kasie, and Jimmy out of the bar and into Ellie and Gibbs' cars.
Halfway through the car ride, Nick stirred awake and began talking gibberish.
"You're pretty." he mumbled "We're gonna make one cute baby." he giggled
"NICK!" Ellie hissed. Her eyes shot to the backseat where Kasie was, thankfully, still fast asleep.
