"Ughh." Nick groaned "Someone turn off the sun." he was sitting at his desk, shades on, head down.
Mcgee threw an empty coffee cup in Nick's direction and groaned softly. Ellie sat at her desk happily humming and sipping her coffee.
"Someone give me your coffee," Palmer yelled, briskly slumping into the bullpen. He grabbed the coffee off Ellie's desk and chugged it down. He placed the half-empty cup back on her desk.
"What is this, decaf?" he hissed
Ellie nodded and smirked playfully. "Hey, how's Kasie?"
"Down in her lab, which by the way I need to get down to my nice, cool, dark, lab." Palmer smiled, eyeing Mcgee and Torres. All he got in return was a groan. He saw Gibbs on his way and quickly left the room.
"Good morning team," Gibbs spoke a little too loud.
Nick and Mcgee stayed silent and Ellie stifled a giggle. Torres silently prayed for a slow day and almost as if Gibbs had heard him he announced that there had been no new cases and that the morning would be nice and quiet.
However, it didn't last long. Three hours into their morning the team got a call about a lead on a previous case.
"We got a new lead. Guy named Dalton Rank. Bishop, get the van, let's go." Gibbs ordered
In sync, Torres and Mcgee picked up their heads and got their gear ready.
"Mr. Rank?" Bishop leaned against the door. They had stood here knocking until they stopped and heard shuffling inside.
Ellie slid the gun out of her holster, her team right behind her, and got in position to kick open the door. As soon as she got the door open and her team snuck inside shots flew through the house.
"Everybody get down!" Gibbs yelled, crouching behind a counter. He signaled and the team advanced, turning the corner and staying low to the ground.
All of a sudden shots zipped past Mcgee and Bishop, hitting a vase and the wall behind them. Ellie felt a small pang in the lower half of her body but decided it wasn't bad enough to be a bullet and in a fit of adrenaline continued on.
Mcgee pushed into Ellie and the two retreated behind the corner. Mcgee turned around to check on the rest of his team. His eyes landed on Ellie's leg.
"Ellie you're bleeding!" he panicked, catching the attention of Gibbs and Torres.
She looked down, the room coming in and out of focus, her feet stumbled and she fell back. The room went dark and all she heard were the screams of her teammates. She felt warm liquid oozing from her thigh, she blinked her eyes, once, twice, and then it was black, just black.
