Kasie practically sprinted out of the bathroom yelling frantically for Nick. She even ran down to the morgue before bumping into Gibbs in the bullpen.
"Kasie where's the fire?" He chuckled
"NICK! Nick, where's Nick?" she asked, stumbling over her words.
"He went out to the place across the street for lunch. Kasie what's going on?"
"It's Ellie, we need Nick here now."
Gibbs raced out of the bullpen and out into the street, going straight for the restaurant. The bell jingled as he flung open the door and everyone turned to stare at him. Nick locked eyes with him from across the room.
"It's Ellie." He yelled
Kasie was back in the bathroom comforting Ellie when the door burst open and a panicked Nick came running over. Ellie barely acknowledged his presence as she sat on the floor, tears streaming down her face.
"El, honey what's wrong?" Nick asked, trying to hide the panic in his voice.
"Nick, I don't feel good." she choked out before turning back and vomiting again, her back ached in pain and she rested her head on Nick's shoulder.
"Ellie, I think we should go to the hospital," Nick whispered
Ellie didn't even try to offer a rebuttal, she got back onto her feet and walked with Nick out of the stall.
Ellie laid back on the seat, Nick standing at her side. The door opened and their OB walked in, with a bottle of water and a clipboard. At the sight, Ellie scooted up and Nick tensed up anxiously.
"Ellie," the doctor started, "You have a medical condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. It's the most severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. It can cause you to be sick a couple of times a day and is accompanied by large amounts of weight loss."
Ellie and Nick just stared, not entirely understanding the words she was saying.
"There are ways of managing it. We can prescribe you antihistamines and vitamin supplements, but the most important thing is that you need to be on bed rest, which means no more work until we get this baby out."
"Got it, thanks, Torres." Mcgee finished up a phone call with Nick and set the phone down at his desk. Three worried faces watching him intently.
"So?" Gibbs asked, breaking the silence
"Nick says she's got Hyperemesis Gravidarum, apparently it's some severe form of morning sickness. She's on bed rest for a few weeks, maybe a month, and then after that, they aren't sure if she can come back to work in any capacity until after she has the baby." Mcgee sighed
Gibbs, Palmer, and Kasie all seemed to ease up after hearing it was nothing extreme. They all sat already imagining how stir crazy Bishop had gone after being shot, not to mention this being stacked on. Then they thought about how much it would impact their team dynamic, no matter how many times they expressed it, Bishop was a valuable member of this team and it wouldn't function without her.
Back at the apartment, Nick had finished helping Ellie into bed, positioning a trash can next to her side in case she got sick again. He turned off the lights and climbed in next to her, careful not to move her too much. This isn't fair, he thought. She was already carrying a child for the two and now this would make it ten times more complicated. He felt helpless and frustrated with the world for piling this onto her list of worries. Next to him, Ellie squirmed restlessly and he snuggled in closer, stroking her hair until she stopped squirming and the two fell deeper into sleep.
lmaooo not me posting for the third time today. I was really bored today as you can imagine and so I wrote a lot of fanfiction including the start of a few new fanfictions I'm working on. I'm so sorry for this chapter, it's incredibly rushed but I'm anxious to get to a few bigger surprises so we are gonna have to deal with it. I was thinking of maybe bringing Jake back for a few chapters but first I want to hear if you guys think it's a good idea or not. Hope you enjoy this and I just want to say that while writing this I was eating massive amounts of icecream and blasting music. So this is a reminder that you deserve a break for all the hard work you do, so take one, whether it be blasting music and eating icecream or bingeing a good show or whatever makes you happy. :)
