Hello.
Been a whole moment hasn't it, but don't fear as a new update is here!
Also I'd like to thank everyone who told me just what they think on this story, it honestly means a lot since I've been pretty busy with stuff.
But hey, I'm here and you are too.
Thanks!
"I'm going to fix you right up!" Looking to Steven I couldn't help but wonder what he had meant, but Looking down to my bandaged arm I was somewhat annoyed at the thought of several weeks of hindered movement.
"Okay, and how will you do so?" Looking to him then to Pearl who still sat next to me, she could only give me an uneasy smile as if she knew what Steven had meant.
"My spit." He answered simply as a still motionless look was all that was left on my face, a single blink was all I could let out as I looked to Steven as he stood there beaming with confidence.
"Uhh, will that really work?" I said hoping against it, but the confident air that Steven held told me otherwise.
"Well Steven you should really ask Matthew if he's okay with this before throwing your spit around." Pearl said leaning forward, hands held out as if wanting to stop Steven herself but having enough control to stop and ask instead.
"Oh? Good idea Pearl!" Steven chimed while looking back to me as Pearl had calmed down and had taken her seat next to me.
"Well Matthew, do you want to be fixed up with some spit-polish?" Sitting in place I couldn't help but feel the unease rising between both Pearl and I, and the thought of my wounds having to be covered in spit sent a shiver down my spine.
"I-I'm okay really..." I waved off as I couldn't help but feel a little bad for not letting Steven help out, even in such a strange way.
"Oh okay..." He said dejectedly, looking down with great thought as he began to rub his fingers across his chin leaving me both confusion and worry.
"If only we could heal you another way..." His face contorted into that of deep thought as he began to look around the house quizzically as if some piece of information kept evading his thoughts.
Looking to Pearl as she sat to my left she also held a befuddled look that Steven was stuck with, but after several moments her face began to exclaim with realization as she figured out what Steven was thinking on.
"Rose's Fountain!" She screamed leaving me to scream as well with surprise, shooting up from her seat once more with hands clapped together as if excited at the thought of what was coming next.
"Yeah!" Steven shouted along causing me to jump back one more, the shared excitement from both of them leaving me befuddled.
"Wha-?" I blurted out, my face becoming twisted with confusion at what they could possibly be talking about.
"My mom's magical fountain, that will definitely heal you right up!" Looking down to his hand without a thought a sudden realization took him.
"Oh! And it will be less strange then spit...hehe sorry." Other then the apology I was confused at what was happening with these two as I looked over to Garnet for any clarification, all I got back was a playful shrug as she grinned at my obvious confusion.
"Its okay really, it's just that the last thing you'd think when someone got hurt was just to 'spit on it'..." Explaining my side of the conversation Steven could only look to both my arm and leg then to his hand, realization struck as an apologetic goofy smile took hold.
"Yeah, that does sound weird when you think about it." The unease between us quickly dissipated as I sat there waiting for something else to happen.
"So...?" I chimed out causing both Pearl and Steven to shuffle awkwardly as they continued on with what was coming next.
"Okay then, let's get going!" Steven cheered as Garnet looked towards both him and I with an amused look.
"Steven, as nice as your trying to be I can't help but think you should be, slowing down a little, for someone's sake." Looking up to Garnet with a scrunched look of confusion, then with a tilt of her head she motion to me causing him to realize what she meant.
"Oops, sorry...again." Giving me a quick look over you would instantly see the troubles I would have moving anywhere, my arm and leg shooting with pain with any form of strain put on them.
"Well how are we going to get you there comfortably?" Steven said aloud, trying to think up some solution to this apparent problem.
"I know!" Pearl shouted proudly as excitement took her over as she readied her hand out as if waiting to catch something. Then with a flash of light from her forehead a bubble appeared above her as it held a blurred object in place.
"Well then," Pearl chimed as the bubble above her 'popped' as she caught the item effortlessly as it fell, "ready to go?"
Looking down to me with a caring look she opened up the object and it became obvious as what she held.
"A wheelchair?" Looking down to where it sat I was confused as to where she held it, and secondly, taken aback by her level of readiness at any moment and was quite impressed.
"Of course, since you'll find it troublesome to walk I thought the best solution would be this. That way you won't have to take a single step on the way there, isn't that great!" Looking up to her and the genuine smile she held I couldn't but smile back, the thought that these people would try so much to make me feel better causing me even tear up slightly, noticing this Pearl's face changed to that of concern.
"Are you alright Matthew? Are your injuries acting up? Oh my stars we're losing him!" Panicked Pearl solely, seeing this both Amethyst and Steven could only look to her with mild confusion leaving both Garnet and I to lightly chuckle.
'No no, I'm fine really it's just that," pausing and taking a look around at each person around me, the thought of what I could have possibly done to deserve such kindness evading me.
"I'm just happy that you'd all go so far for me, I'm happy that I'm able to see each of you as a friend." The room becoming lighter as each Gem was taken back, each processing this information in their own way leaving me waiting anxiously wondering what they thought with Amethyst speaking up first.
"Aww Matty, of course your our friend!" She said excitedly, fists clutched as if to show her own resolve.
"Anytime Matthew." Chimed in Garnet with a stoic smile giving me a thumbs up while doing so, which in turn I flashed her my own thumbs up.
"Ohh Matthew, anyone who are willing to jump headfirst into dangerous situations for the well being of others will always be friends to us." Pearl chimed I'm in a rather wordy way, but by the look she held I knew that she meant well as a positivity took over each one of us.
After a few short seconds I composed myself and looked up to Pearl as she stood next to me.
"Well, I'm ready to go if you are." I said cheerily as Pearl looked down to me and then smiled.
"Okay then!" She bubbled as the high spirits in the room not letting go at all, she helped me onto the wheelchair making sure to keep as little pressure as possible on both my injured leg and arm.
Making my way on the wheelchair I looked to both Amethyst and Garnet as I expected both of them to follow us out of the door, but then just as quickly confusion took over as I was spun around as Pearl began to stroll us both to the platform that sat in the middle of the house.
"Uhh, Pearl?" I called out to Pearl, this causing her to stop moving and looking down at me with a perplexed look on her face.
"Yes Matthew?" She replied with just as much confusion as me, both of sharing the look on both of our faces.
"Aren't we going the wrong way? The door is over there..." I asked as I peeled back feeling uneasy as I tried to avoid any possibility of insulting her.
"Ho ho, Matthew walking there would take far too long." She corrected me with an all too cheery smile.
"It is much more faster to take the warp pad to get to Rose's Fountain." Looking to her blankly as I began to try digest what she had just told me I couldn't grasp what exactly she meant.
"Warp pad?" I questioned simply, Steven though who was standing to our side began to hop quickly with excitement, a smile shown proudly on his face as if anxiously waiting for something.
"Yes! Taking the warp pad will get us there in just mere seconds, when compared to the day or so to get there this is the more logical way of getting there." Looking to her then to the raised platform in front of us I began to connect what she was telling me, then with as much energy as he could hold Steven finally exploded and began to rush ahead of both Pearl and I jumping onto the platform.
"This is going to be amazing! Matthew never got to see the warp pad in action, but now he'll be going to try his first trip!" Jumping in place Steven's excitement was beginning to get wondering what exactly was about to happen, at the same time though my stomach began to feel heavy as the though of the unknown began to take hold and twist at my organ.
Letting out one strong gulp I looked up to Pearl with a crooked smile. As unsure as I could ever feel I let out one shaky laugh, her face becoming blank as if rethinking what we were about to do.
"Ready when you are Pearl." I said roughly, giving a thumbs up as she eased up from her worry.
"Alright guys, lets get going!" Steven shouted out as he ran up to the 'warp pad' with both Pearl and I following just behind him, looking back I saw that both Garnet and Amethyst stood in place not taking a step forwards.
"Come on you guys, aren't you two coming along?" Steven questioned both Gems, this in turn made Garnet smile half heartedly which in turn just confused Steven even more.
"Sorry Steven but, we can't." With confusion twisting his face he looked to both Amethyst and Garnet wondering what was stopping them.
"Wha-? Why not?" He asked genuinely, both Gems giving him a sympathetic smile Garnet looked to Amethyst then back to Steven.
"It would far too risky to leave the city alone especially after such a close call like last night." After saying this I felt her gaze fall on me even through her tinted glasses, the feeling of unease rose up for just a moment but just as quickly left.
"It would be safer for the entire city if both Amethyst and I were to stay and keep watch for any Gem mutants." Looking to both Garnet and Steven as the realization took him and the unease that both Garnet Amethyst held as if they both were just about to apologize, they instead were cut off prematurely as Steven spoke up.
"That makes sense." He said simply as he stroke his chin deep in thought.
"Well okay then, see you guys soon!" He cheered as both Gems just let out sigh of relief seeing Steven go along with both Pearl and I, strolling up the rest of the way I was placed square in the middle of the pad with Pearl behind me and Steven to my left.
"Okay Steven, if you'd do the honours." Pearl suggested, Steven looking up to her giving a single nod as he knew what was about to happen.
"Okay Matthew, get ready." He said excitedly, his face getting just the slight more serious as he concentrated on something, curiosity taking hold for just a moment as light quickly surrounded us and the forms of both Garnet and Amethyst drowned behind the sudden brightness as a wall surrounded us.
Looking to Steven and then to Pearl as each held a slight excitement, yet both were still and calm as everything around us faded as a high pitch sound lifted us off, with just my beating heart as the only thing I could focus on.
