Hey everyone, hows it going?
Hope everyone's enjoying themselves, and I hope that you'll en joy this new chapter.
I'd like to thank everyone who have been trying to keep in contact with me through the PM's and just leaving a review, its all really awesome how great you all are.
Thanks!
The rush was overwhelming.
"..." Silence took me over as what looked to be stars rushed past us, a wall of light surrounding us as pure light stupefied me while both Steven and Pearl just stood there with soft smiles.
As the feeling of splendour took over while my mouth was left open all I heard was a cheerful chuckle from Steven, this causing my shaking hand to take a stronger hold on both armrests.
Continuing on for what felt like forever the high pitch sound of the vortex of light began to deepen, despite the slowness of the deepening tone it was still fairly noticeable, which was finally noticed by Pearl as she also heard after I did.
"Oh, almost there!" She said with excitement which was strange for me, considering the usual dutiful tone she held this must be some fountain that we were going to.
"Hear that Matthew, we're almost there!" Steven cheered beside me, looking up to me I stayed still in the wheelchair as my empty wide eyed stare was all he saw.
"Matthew?" He asked again curiously.
Just then, the tone began to deepen considerably quick as even the stars around us started to take a more solid describable form, then just like that it was all gone.
Around the three of us was a fairly undiscerning landscape that held rows of winding hills, but none of this caught my eye as I sat stiff in my seat.
"Uhh, Matthew?" Steven checked to see if I was okay, seeing if I was still awake or at the least 'all there', but to his surprise I replied with a loud unhinged cheer.
"Woohoo!" I yelled swaying side to side as my mind was still processing the trip we just took, this however causing Pearl, who by this point was standing concerned for me, rushed to my side ready to catch me in case I fell.
"Hahaha...ha, err..." I sputtered out laughing, but as I began to notice the worrying looks on both Pearl and Steven I quickly began to get a hold of myself.
"Uhhh, yeah...that was cool." I tried to say as nonchalantly as much as I could, but the stifled laugh they both were holding back told me that my efforts weren't needed as I began to slink back into my seat.
"Ohh Matthew..." Pearl spoke up, seeing my unease she placed a hand my shoulder and looked to me with amusement.
"Every humans first time warping always has this effect, actually I find rather humbling seeing that the warp pads still have that awe inspiring touch to it." She cheered as she clapped her hands together with a smile following right along with it.
"Yeah! You should have seen Connie's first trip through!" Looking to Steven I couldn't help but let my head turn just a little, the confused look that I held told both Steven and Pearl that I was lost.
"Oh, uhh Connie is one of Steven's human friends." Pearl chimes in, leaning forward to make sure she could tell me face to face.
"And..." Pearl pauses with pride as she took a step in front of me.
"She's the first official human member of the Crystal Gem, personally trained by myself and is exceeding expectations." Taking this in I could only imagine how she could be doing what they did routinely, as my imagination started up the image of a tall athletic woman popped up as she fought off the Crystal mutant from last night with ease.
"Yeah!" Cheered proudly before finishing his thought.
"And she's the same age as me!"
"..." Looking down to Steven dumbstruck, the thought of a child fighting one of those monsters left me uneasy.
"Cool..." I said raggedly, worrying about the thought of either her or Steven getting injured.
Looking at both Pearl and Steven I couldn't but notice their confused looks, the obvious concerning look shining on my face telling them my inner thoughts.
"Oh Matthew, I know that might sound a little disconcerting but theirs no need to worry, Connie hasn't been in any battles yet and if she were to get into one her training would be more than useful in any situation."
Sitting in place I couldn't help but think about what could happen, plenty of 'If's' and 'But's', then I thought of my own situation.
"I guess I really shouldn't be as bothered by that, considering your literally strolling me around in this wheelchair." Letting my head drop and hang staring down, the sight of me getting involved in danger ran through my head as I lifted my head back up with a goofy and relaxed smile shining proudly.
"Like just look at me." I motioned to myself, looking to both Steven and Pearl I continued on.
"This could have gotten so much worse, I was honestly unprepared for last night and couldn't do anything but panic." Letting out my thoughts I couldn't help but smile at myself, the thought of the day running from literal flames flowing though my mind shining just as brightly as yesterday.
"But considering where I am right now..." Trailing off I looked to them both, my smile not letting up as I let out a soft chuckle.
"I should seriously let you guys handle all of this, not me. I shouldn't be getting in your way if all I'll be doing is getting hurt." I just wasn't useful.
Looking to both of them they both held an unhappy look on their face's as I held back my true feeling, sorrowful regret on my part as a familiar weight formed in my chest.
"It's okay, really." Letting my smile stay I knew my situation all too well, all the while instinctively reaching up with my good arm I began to rub the back of my neck.
As both Steven and Pearl stood there they wouldn't let whatever was on their mind go for now, as each of them looked to me with a somber gaze that was left silent.
"I-if you say so Matthew." He said trying to not draw any attention the heaviness of the trip. "We should really get a move on to the fountain to fix you up though."
"Yeah..." I tried to chime up, trying my hardest to mimic a genuine smile.
With the three of us heading on our way silently, our minds to addled by the air left by my confession none of of us noticed the hill to our side.
Unusual movements took over a wide hedge as it sunk behind the hill unnoticed.
